    I have similar front end.. but I dont like the square shape of it.. thinking to modify it a bit for older look . Thanks for video. cool

      Tc Bros also has repop knuckle and panhead front ends. Might be an easier route to buy one of those and sell your square style one to make up the price difference.

      @@DWchopshop thanks.. I guess price difference is huge and alot of hassle to sell .. if I will do that mod I will pos a video.. but for now I have so many other bike projects.. keep wrenching , bro!

    Finally getting around to doing this on my '73 and have run into a couple issues.
    1. I have about .5 inch more space on my brake side set up. The heim joint even looks to be angled inward from the leg to the caliper mount.
    2. When I installed riser adapters the fall tightened up. As if they some how tightened the neck bearings.
    Any ideas before I take everything off and start over?
    Really appreciate all your videos, they've been very helpful.

      This is really hard without being there. Most of the time it has to do with playing with your alignments and spacers that were included. Also make sure you're using the right type of hub. If you check out TC bros website it says what kind of wheel (some sort of fat boy wheel) that the moto iron kit is based around. If your not using that specific wheel you might need to make some spacers, or snag a spacer kit off of JP cycles. TC bros also sells individual spacers.
      And as far as risers messing with the fall, I've never heard of that unless you have some HEAVY handle bars.

    Just installed this on my 97 spotater. Mine is the narroe flide wheel, so ill need to get the spacers for it. I also noticed the back side of the aliper is hitting the spokes, probably cause its the stock 10.5 rotor.

      @DWchopshop  Рік тому

      The caliper does come close to the spokes, that 11.5" rotor will help with that.

    Awesome video! Do you know what the rocker nut torque spec is? I have the same springer and cannot find the torque spec

      Hey, I apologize for the late reply, I don't know the torque spec for those. Best thing to do would be email TC Bros and ask them. If you find out though let me know!
      I wouldn't be suprised if it's "to feel" some people use that as an adjustment.

    Hey man I see you installing this on a wide glide front end. I am having issues with the caliper rubbing my spokes on a narrow glide. Any advice? Thanks man

    Bought TCS 4 under springer went right together, TCs 16" Rim & tire and same brake set up as yours, Followeed their instructions and no matter what - rim sets 1/4" offset to 1/2" per there schematic & rotor does not align with caliper & bracket ? Only thing different than your is I used there rim. spacers in EXACT same sequence as yours ?

      Is it too close to the hub, or too far from the hub?

  • @PotatoeJoe69
    @PotatoeJoe69 Рік тому +1

    Question. I bought basically the same front end, but a speciifc kit for my bike (shouldnt matter as it just comes with all parts as one package), put everything together 100% correctly, but the brake caliper mount had literally 1 or 2mm of side to side play. I cant figure out wtf fhe deal is. All spacers are correct, all put on correctly, thrust washers are good, I'm at a loss. The wheel itself has 0 play. The spacers are tight, but the caliper mount has side to side play.
    Maybe you got some ideas you could throw at me as to wtf it could be, cause I got nothing. Im hakf tenpted to think the something was just machined too small.

    • @DWchopshop
      @DWchopshop  Рік тому +1

      Well, i have 3 bikes here right now that have moto iron front ends on them, with this brake. None of them have any play. Are you using the thin copper or brass spacers on either side of the brake caliper? They are about 2mm each.

      @@DWchopshop Yes, have the washers on both sides. That's the big reason I'm dumbfounded. Everything is put together exactly like it should be, as far as I can tell.

      @@DWchopshop I did. Ended up taking it apart and putting it back together just to triple check my work, and all the sudden there's no more play. Maybe something wasn't seated right. No idea what it was man. Thank you for your time and replying though
