With all respect to the preacher, I like to share few thoughts. Being a believer, I understand there is a need to understand Bible and how it impacts the world. But I struggle hearing prophecy’s and assertions about biblical prophecy. What it does is a) fill our head with knowledge and yearning for more knowledge b) puffs up pride of knowing everything c) constant speculations d) unnecessary hatred to communities (Palestine, Muslims, people groups). These are contrary to Jesus’s heart and mission for believers. God is the one who knows all things and when will end come. He will bring justice and judge people in his time. The mission Jesus gives his disciples (including us) in Matthew 28:19-20 is to go and preach and spread word (good news) faithfully, it isn’t to fill our heads with knowledge. Ultimately God through his spirit brings conviction and turns hearts (even Muslims and those who hate Jesus now) to Christ, it’s not man’s works. I strongly believe sermons should focus on personal holiness, fighting sin, what it means to be Christ like, exalting Christ and the redemption he brings to all (including believers). These topics will soften our hearts, build our faith, focus on heart transformation (not head knowledge), Jesus exalters (not preacher exalters) and makes us bold to proclaim Christ to others in love. In 2 Thessalonians 1-4, Paul tells not to be upset about prophecy. In the same chapter v13-17 Paul encourages us to stand firm in the word.
Brother I came to know Jesus through brother John p Thomas . He put in me the fear of lord through the enlighting of word of God specially the prophecies . Not the hatred against anyone. He helped me to know the Bible more . Praise the lord .
