Fun fact: Zaccaria versions of original arcade games were not so common even here in Italy back in the golden age era. True. They started to appear more commonly between the 2nd half of the 80s.
Phoenix is one of my all time favourite games.
The best italiano &american video games & flipper broadcast of all the times ,and the design of cabinet graphics was very wonderful 😎🍺👾⚡
The Atari 2600 version of Phoenix is famous, but the arcade original is utterly forgotten.
Kinda interesting how much effort was put in some of the early games to look and play nearly identical (The Invaders) or very similar (Galaxia, Astro Wars) to existing games, but running on *vastly* different hardware? The early color games are pretty much Interton VC4000 hardware on steroids.
Italian pinball machines are commonly seen in America, but not video arcade games. I really wonder who owns the rights to these today.
These games make my eyes and ears sad :(
Other than Astro Wars (a.k.a Astro Fighter), Phoenix and Vanguard I've only experienced most of these through MAME. Not surprising being that most of their games never made it to the U.S.
I've got a soft spot for odd quirky games like these though since I did play similar ones back in the early 80's.
These games have colour clash like the ZX spectrum
Wow, the Dribbling (Model Racing) game 2:30 is unusual and interesting to me! Looking it up, it seems to be a pretty rare game.
I love how it takes inspiration from foosball, but it's different.
Hm there's three sets of (mostly working) circuit boards in storage at my local arcade museum, but yeah, SEGA's N-Sub, you can find circuit boards here and there, but complete machines not so much.
Did Atari license Dodge Em and Circus?
Nope, both Dodge 'em (Atari) and this Dodgem are clones of Sega's Head On (the game that inspired Pac-Man).
Circus was originally by Exidy, Zaccaria licensed it for release in Europe. Atari made their own bootleg and managed not to get sued.
oh ok. Atari and Zaccaria were both fortunate then. I'm assuming the same applies to Galaxia?
lol
