@@philipk917 That's very kind of you to say, thank you, Philip!
I felt uneasy this morning about my awkward wording in what I posted last night. I think I should have said “ just as passionate literarily as he is he is passionate musically.” Thank you. I feel better now.
Haha, James, we'll take it either way!
Just revisiting old favorites. Taking in this beautiful performance once more reminds me that Eric Comstock is just as passionately literary as he is passionately musical. With him the words are every bit as important as the notes and vice versa!
James, without the words we’d just be whistling! Thanks so much!
@@EricComstockBarbaraFasano Some years ago, here in St.Louis, a local critic (unfortunately just as provincial as he was local) had some unpleasant words for the lovely Valerie Lemon and the wonderful show she brought to town entitled “Valerie Lemon sings the music of Marvin Hamlisch.” He took issue with the title of the show, insisting that to his way of thinking, one plays music and sings lyrics. Being not a little miffed, I immediately had to comment on his blog, pointing out that a since a song is a marriage of words and music- the singer sings the lyrics while simultaneously singing the music. It’s not rocket science. I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie after her show (being introduced by my companion of the evening, the great super fan Julie Clark). Valerie was bothered by the negative comments that another critic had written. Comically, when Julie and I heard who it was -a certain dolt who also performs at open mics, we tried to put her mind at ease, saying that she only had to see him perform to be assured that she would never again give him another thought! If you want to be amused by the misguided ramblings of a local critic ( he has other choice comments), look up “Joe Pollack Valerie Lemon sings the music of Marvin Hamlisch scroll all down November until you see Valerie Lemon and then click on the only comment which is mine. I’m rather proud of it.
Just deadly! Dead on and deadly! Leave it to Mr. Comstock to deliver a completely new interpretation of this great classic, making Cole Porter’s genius shine on in a new way.
Very kind, James, thank you.
Great job!
Thank you, Joseph, so glad you enjoyed it.
