The adventurers are on their last legs, fighting the lich. The undead monstrosity is about to tear the life from the Warlock, one of the strongest spellcasters on the island. I’m their last act of defiance, the Warlock tries to send a magic blast out. The lich crushes it between their fist. Suddenly, the monster’s soulless eyes widen, and the world is plunged into pure darkness. Due to the Warlock’s Elvin ancestry, they can make out vague outlines. The world is collapsing. The lich releases them and stumbles back. As the lich dissolves, they utter the ancient words of a long forgotten prophecy. “There’s nowhere to run when darkness falls”
I envision an anonymous character dashing through this landscape while pitch-black figures swipe and claw at them while singing this song. The final line has the character surrounded while their antagonists tease them before descending on them. "There's nowhere to run." 😨
