there is n o t h i n g about Mikayla that says "KVD" so off the bat a jarring choice for the campaign but also having her be the face of a "fuck the rules" bit isn't tongue in cheek it's just tone deaf.
I always love your videos! Something about this whole thing that rubs me the wrong way, besides all the mikayla stuff, is the concept of this campaign in general? I mean I understand doing far out makeup isnt trendy, but saying its f-ing the rules? It's still conforming entirely to beauty standards? It always gives me ick when makeup companies try to make using their products somehow anti-establishment and nonconformist and empowering.
I wonder why no one told her that you are allowed to not like a few products from the brand and still take a sponsorship with them... just don't talk about the ones you don't want to talk about, still get the cash and retain your integrity.
Love how the “fuck the rules” side 6:59 is literally just 2016 makeup all over again 🙄 you’re not breaking rules babes, you’re going back to a different style of makeup that isn’t on trend anymore (thats not to say ppl aren’t allowed to do 2016-style makeup! I’m saying it’s not rule-breaking makeup).
Unconventional makeup, or makeup with a more high-fashion/editorial style. Excessive blush draping, color on only the under eyes, color on the eyes bleeding into the forehead/cheeks, color contour. Also, I think using makeup w.o covering blemishes is pretty rule breaking! But “breaking makeup rules” is a really tough concept to work with, I’m surprised a mainstream brand was trying to work with that concept because I don’t think the average makeup consumer is looking to break the rules (but maybe kvd isn’t marketing to the average consumer). TLDR: Rule breaking makeup is actually a difficult thing to pull off so I was expecting to see something pretty out there, not a return to a makeup style that was on trend less than a decade ago
@@qwerkywriter7134mikayla just seems like the type of person to make fun of an alt kid for caking tons of blush on the nose, or doing doodles with the eyeliner pen on their cheeks

You see lately people who don’t do clean makeup or use a matte finish are called cakey and bad bc rn it’s in to be dewy and minimal. The promo is to go against those rules cuz it essentially is. It isn’t written but everyone conforms.
The FTC is making a mockery of their own system, people will continue to not disclose unless they affect their bag. Why have this system if you're not going to hold them accountable
Lying vibes from the first second I saw her. Never understood why she fakes her voice and accent. It's so blatantly contrived. How can we trust someone who is not even sincere about their own voice?
I did after noticing how she loved everything she used. Every single item was life changing, and I swear her voice got more and more obnoxious over time
The lying in general is so unserious bc her followers will buy into whatever products she uses regardless, she has enough of a personality to sell things based off that alone, shes literally just lying for no reason, we already know she has no integrity but that’s really the biggest thing for me, like she will literally take a paycheck from ANYBODY 😭
There actually is a big lawsuit with a BUNCH of tiktok influencers in court right bow with the FTC. Currently theyre trying to blame their sponsors for the way they structure the contracts.
Remembering the time I commented under a video that it wad disgusting how she keeps scamming her viewers and how she portrayed her job as being “harder than a 9-5” and I got attacked by dozens of people (who weren’t even fans of her so idk why they decided to defend her with their LIVES) 🥴 Wonder how those people are feeling now…
I'm not tired of hearing about her regarding FTC violations, mostly because I never want to forget how bad she and a lot of others are at false advertising. Keep doing the lords work Angelika! 🙏
How did we EVER buy anything before social media came along? How did I dress myself and do my hair and my face without 4,000 people telling me what to buy and how to do it??? This is all just so ridiculous I don't even know what else to say- the fact that these companies see how she shit talks them and they still choose to work with her is disgusting. They know that they'll make enough money off the people that didn't see the first videos, that they don't care what she said about them 6 months ago. Does no one have any standards anymore?
pet peeve of mine but the f the rules looks were still kinda normal, just colorful. like where are the tear tracks, eyeliner doodles, any weird lip color, hell even purple blush. like go kvd give us nothing (but after that rebrand when kat sold the whole operation went dowhill so what was i really expecting) edit: okay the winners looks on the poster are more like it, but that filmed advert was the most basic stuff ive ever seen
EARLY! I will never trust what Mikayla reviews again but idk if it will cause me to totally distrust a brand because if someone reputable says its good I will still check it out. It is nice that she did the flying out smaller influencers but doesn't take away from the bad she's done. I really hope the FTC get their tiktok team up to par to catch all these ppl like Mikayla who can't disclose properly.
there’s been an FTC crackdown recently in the food space i think, where they’ve made it very clear you cannot hide disclosure in the hashtags and you need to be clear if you’re sponsored and who by. i’m hoping this comes over to the beauty industry too, it’s making it impossible to trust ANYONE
Is it not a little naive to think that companies will stop working with Mikayla as a result of her constant non disclosement of ads Most of these big companies have also been accused of or called out for shady business practices too and they benefit when consumers believe she’s giving a heartfelt recommendation rather than fulfilling a contractual obligation
I don't understand why she acts like there's a huge difference between her follow the rules look vs. not following the rules? It kinda just looks like basic makeup vs. A bold look?
You don’t have to put her entire post in your video girl, that was like - it was a struggle finishing this video lmfaooo. It was like - draining seeing so much of her AND hear her voice this much.
I used to watch mikaylas content and seeing the old clip of her talking about essence made me so sad. She used to me go to for in depth, reliable reviews. Now it just feels like she’s constantly selling something.
You know what's crazy, at the end of the day those people will keep their platform no matter what. At this time cancelling someone will get them some hate but so far I've not seen a true cancellation. Those people are still multimillionaires ✔️✔️✔️
i just wrote a college application essay about cancel culture relating to mikayla. at the end of the day, no matter what she does, she still has a massive following and all her bills paid
i didn't have a problem with her voice and accent when i thought it was hers lmao. and then those videos of her from a few years ago somehow got leaked and i was like oh suddenly this is really grating to listen to
its crazy to me that after doing makeup for so long Mikayla doesn't know that foundations can come in different undertones and that the essence shades were definitely different.
I don’t take makeup recommendations from influencers so it doesn’t affect my life either way but to those that do, I suggest holding onto that receipt because it might not look the same on you lol.
People are saying the FTC is planning on cracking down on tiktokers since it’s become such a problem to get any of them to disclose properly, so I suppose we’ll see if any of the big ones get hit by them
I don’t mean to be rude, but I’ve noticed your videos over the past couple of months have the footage you’re critiquing in full rather than snippets. In this case, it feels like I’m watching Mikayla’s tik tok page rather than watching you discuss and critique the content. It makes me nervous that you’re not transforming the content enough to avoid a strike. The footage you’re critiquing should be shown but, like writing an essay, the source mustn’t be the content. The source is a supportive example of your argument. Keep up the good work, but be careful.
I honestly do not mind because I wasn't gonna watch the original tiktoks on the first place, but also I'd like to point out that Angelika has an editor (Lily from DWKT) and I believe those decisions might be coming not directly from her.
Not sure why anyone finds Mikayla’s content appealing but to each their own I guess. The FTC moves at a glacial pace just like any other government entity, unfortunately.
I grew up and live in New England, and her fake accent drives me crazy. NO one has an accent like hers, it’s a caricature, and some and kind of insulting. Her thing is to lie to fill her bank account, and refuses to even talk about her mistakes. I have a lot of respect when people decide admit they’ve made a bad choice, apologize and move forward- but she has done nothing of the sort. The US has become rotten from our top government and richest citizens getting away with anything they choose, while the normal citizens pay the bills. I completely agree she should be heavily fined, but unless they decide make her an example, I doubt they will.
With essence - you'd assume the brand would do it's due diligence and tell her to take down negative reviews.... especially when she's now reviewing the exact same product. She's just ick. These brands are ick.
when during that essence ad she said "the skin is skinning" and "seriously essence did that" that felt so fake like shes reading from a fcking prompter 😭😭😭😭😭 does she get these from a brand to say or does someone write scripts for TIKTOKS??? thats so riddiculous to me like yeah i understand youre making money on this platform and theres a bunch of ppl working there but for me a definition of tiktok is that bc the videos are short theyre just nonscripted and genuine like that
Bahaha the KVD ad for the campaign was like a spoof 😂 it was so unintentionally funny 😅 Mikayla does as she pleases and lies all the time, cuz she knows at the end of it shes still rich and has followers so she acts like she almost revels in this.
Okay but they did the follower with the yellow eye shadow DIRTY with that look all the other ones were fine but the yellow eye shadow and clown blush was horrific. That gal didn't deserve that!!
Speaking about her just curious, who else thought she was way older than she is? Bc idk if that's the voice or the way her filler looks but I originally assumed that she was at least 10 years older than me (I'm 28) and I recently learned that she was actually younger, kinda shocked me Now that I know and looking at her properly I can kinda see it but I wanna know if others were confused or if I'm just that bad at guessing people's age 😅😬
mikayla acting like she somehow broke the rules by applying slightly darker colors than usual has the same energy as "ugly" girls in movies taking off their glasses and suddenly becoming hot idk
That review of essence pisses me off. I don’t know what their actual shade range is but acting like “three” light foundations which would clearly be in different UNDERTONES is a huge issue drives me nuts.
Her accent too. Started off mild, like it was obvious her American accent wasn’t super neutral. But now it’s so thick it’s almost cartoonish. If you talk about her again, her last name is Portuguese, you don’t pronounce the U, it’s read kinda like noo-gay-ruh. Not that she pronounces it correctly herself, but beside the point.
Why do every makeup influencers look like either James Charles or Jeffery Star now? Like almost every male makeup artists do their makeups like James Charles and almost every female makeup artists have done so much works, they look like Jeffery Star. Mikayla looks almost a carbon copy of JS during that Maybelline lipsticks ad.
her outfit in that ad was atrocious and as embarrassing as the ad itself. and you can tell she is over exaggerating her accent bc it goes in and out… but on a positive note, i’m obsessed with the bookshelf and books behind Angelika, love her - huge Hpot fan 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

it’s so baffling that people have to work so hard every single day working such crazy schedules just trying to pay rent or basic living expenses. and someone who was lucky enough, due to the work they were doing at the time, to get internet famous and get to live a life of luxury can’t even be honest??? i’m not surprised it’s just very insulting and tiring tbh😭
as long as it keeps paying her bills and keeps her expensive lifestyle going, am I right? 😂
there is n o t h i n g about Mikayla that says "KVD" so off the bat a jarring choice for the campaign but also having her be the face of a "fuck the rules" bit isn't tongue in cheek it's just tone deaf.
That’s what I thought too, the whole KVD aesthetic just looked goofy on her? Idk she looked uncomfortable too lol
ITS SO WEIRD!! Why her?? Did she pester them until they agreed?? The P Louise collab I get it, but this is.. ehhhh
Exactly! Like if it’s alt, genuine makeup art, or even just guys doing creative makeup, then it is. Just glam makeup tho, totally normal
Example of rule breaking makeup?
@@qwerkywriter7134 the make up rule I was thought was. If I go dramatic on the eyes, I have to be subtle on the lips. But thanks for reply.
@@qwerkywriter7134mikayla just seems like the type of person to make fun of an alt kid for caking tons of blush on the nose, or doing doodles with the eyeliner pen on their cheeks
I see ur point but you missed THE point. She explained the thing of trends and what the standard is in current times.
To punish poor people
PLSSSS THE AD…they rlly thought they ate…😭😭
Honestly, I had to look away 🤣
Anyone who also always got bad vibes from her? From the very start?
Or just me?
she started getting recommended to me a ton and I immediately knew she was crazy. nothing about her seems truthful at all!
Yes
Currently theyre trying to blame their sponsors for the way they structure the contracts.
there are a bunch of alt makeup beauty creators and they decided to do it with mikayla 😭 that’s so embarrassing
i refuse to ever use pearly white deluxe bc so many snapchatters promote it and not one ever says it’s an ad. EVER.
“Mikayla told me to, so obviously I’m going to” 🤮🤮🤮
How did we EVER buy anything before social media came along? How did I dress myself and do my hair and my face without 4,000 people telling me what to buy and how to do it???
This is all just so ridiculous I don't even know what else to say- the fact that these companies see how she shit talks them and they still choose to work with her is disgusting. They know that they'll make enough money off the people that didn't see the first videos, that they don't care what she said about them 6 months ago. Does no one have any standards anymore?
pet peeve of mine but the f the rules looks were still kinda normal, just colorful. like where are the tear tracks, eyeliner doodles, any weird lip color, hell even purple blush. like go kvd give us nothing (but after that rebrand when kat sold the whole operation went dowhill so what was i really expecting)
edit: okay the winners looks on the poster are more like it, but that filmed advert was the most basic stuff ive ever seen
“Fuck the rules” and they chose like 5 of the most conventional people I’ve ever seen
Her actual voice is coming through so much in these recent videos 😁
the ad made no sense and the sound effects and music were jarring
"the skin is SKINNING" absolutely killed me
I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if when she’s doing reviews of certain products, she doesn’t even use the actual product. 🤣
Her accent changes in each video lmao
Is it not a little naive to think that companies will stop working with Mikayla as a result of her constant non disclosement of ads
Most of these big companies have also been accused of or called out for shady business practices too and they benefit when consumers believe she’s giving a heartfelt recommendation rather than fulfilling a contractual obligation
Everything she says is painfully fake 😂
The way she talks in her sponsorship literally sounds like an add not a review. You can immediately tell it's sponsored.
Those people are still multimillionaires ✔️✔️✔️
i just wrote a college application essay about cancel culture relating to mikayla. at the end of the day, no matter what she does, she still has a massive following and all her bills paid
i had to block her on tiktok lmao, i couldn't handle her anymore
i didn't have a problem with her voice and accent when i thought it was hers lmao. and then those videos of her from a few years ago somehow got leaked and i was like oh suddenly this is really grating to listen to
“Break the rules” campaign featuring a girl who uses heavy filters in photos just to look hella conventionally attractive😂
The irony 💀
the ad would've slayed way more if it was just the other four people lmao
Okay but why did the ad feel like it came straight out of Riverdale? The dialogue, the camera angles... It feels so cringey 😭
*The KVD
I just scroll instantly when she comes up on shorts.. I feel like she lies with every breath..
We all know that what she truly loves is the money and she doesn't see past those dollar signs therefore her "opinion" is null and void
why are ppl still trusting big influencers like what, it’s on u at some point
its crazy to me that after doing makeup for so long Mikayla doesn't know that foundations can come in different undertones and that the essence shades were definitely different.
I don’t take makeup recommendations from influencers so it doesn’t affect my life either way but to those that do, I suggest holding onto that receipt because it might not look the same on you lol.
She did a full face of sheglam disguised as a story time last week or so. Sponsored. Not labeled properly
People are saying the FTC is planning on cracking down on tiktokers since it’s become such a problem to get any of them to disclose properly, so I suppose we’ll see if any of the big ones get hit by them
Mikayla just reminds me of Ursula the Sea Witch. Especially in full makeup.
the audio mixing in the KVD Beauty ad reel was soooooo bad
I don’t mean to be rude, but I’ve noticed your videos over the past couple of months have the footage you’re critiquing in full rather than snippets.
In this case, it feels like I’m watching Mikayla’s tik tok page rather than watching you discuss and critique the content. It makes me nervous that you’re not transforming the content enough to avoid a strike.
The footage you’re critiquing should be shown but, like writing an essay, the source mustn’t be the content. The source is a supportive example of your argument.
Keep up the good work, but be careful.
i agree!
I was thinking the same.
It's okay to show the full thing as long as she is adding her own two cents; and it's handy having the whole videos for those without tiktok like me
I honestly do not mind because I wasn't gonna watch the original tiktoks on the first place, but also I'd like to point out that Angelika has an editor (Lily from DWKT) and I believe those decisions might be coming not directly from her.
Agreed, I couldn’t even care about her argument because it just felt like 80% of the video was Mikayla’s tik toks and her summarizing it
I'll be back for the next video. At 1:17 when she says "that's not even the best 👹PAAAAT" I had to stop. I cant stand her anymore. LOVE YOU THO!!
"you guys seriously inspire me"
Well how do we inspire her to disclose her partnerships and be honest in her reviews???
I completely agree she should be heavily fined, but unless they decide make her an example, I doubt they will.
the way she shows the essence eyeshadow palette with the little spots in it as if thats not one of the faulty palettes that we damaged out at ulta 😛
With essence - you'd assume the brand would do it's due diligence and tell her to take down negative reviews.... especially when she's now reviewing the exact same product. She's just ick. These brands are ick.
I've grown to only listen to makeup reviews from people I know IRL.
The STARK difference between the Essence reviews…I just…😂😅
when during that essence ad she said "the skin is skinning" and "seriously essence did that" that felt so fake like shes reading from a fcking prompter 😭😭😭😭😭 does she get these from a brand to say or does someone write scripts for TIKTOKS???
thats so riddiculous to me like yeah i understand youre making money on this platform and theres a bunch of ppl working there but for me a definition of tiktok is that bc the videos are short theyre just nonscripted and genuine like that
Bahaha the KVD ad for the campaign was like a spoof 😂 it was so unintentionally funny 😅 Mikayla does as she pleases and lies all the time, cuz she knows at the end of it shes still rich and has followers so she acts like she almost revels in this.
Ngl, that KVD advert spot would be pretty great if it goes anyone other than Mikayla.
In regards to essence they are pretty good affordable products. I really love their blushes
Okay but they did the follower with the yellow eye shadow DIRTY with that look all the other ones were fine but the yellow eye shadow and clown blush was horrific. That gal didn't deserve that!!
Speaking about her just curious, who else thought she was way older than she is?
Bc idk if that's the voice or the way her filler looks but I originally assumed that she was at least 10 years older than me (I'm 28) and I recently learned that she was actually younger, kinda shocked me
Now that I know and looking at her properly I can kinda see it but I wanna know if others were confused or if I'm just that bad at guessing people's age 😅😬
No, I agree with you. Filler can really age a face.
wow shes only in her 20s? i thought for sure she was in her mid 30s
Thank you I feel less crazy 😅
@@rkoncenasupporter yeah apparently she's only 25
@@Hetalea wow
mikayla acting like she somehow broke the rules by applying slightly darker colors than usual has the same energy as "ugly" girls in movies taking off their glasses and suddenly becoming hot idk
That review of essence pisses me off. I don’t know what their actual shade range is but acting like “three” light foundations which would clearly be in different UNDERTONES is a huge issue drives me nuts.
"thank you for letting me be myself"......Now girlllll bffr rn! 😂
I listening to this video while in the shower and I mocked her accent in the shower PAAAART
The amount of cringe I feel with how she forces her accent to be more thick by exaggerating the vowels 😅
I don’t trust anyone that purposefully does that to their eyebrows. I don’t care if it’s trendy and in style it’s not flattering
😂😂😂
Mikayla? Lying? Say it ain't so!
