  • Before Jack Higgins walked across the stage at his high school graduation, his principal made a special request: for the crowd to keep silent, as Jack has autism and is sensitive to loud noises. “It was the most moving moment of my life,” his dad says.

Awesome. Brought tears to the eyes of this old goat. Great kids, growing up to be great adults. 🤩

I'm just going to assume that the one dislike was someone in a hurry who thought they hit the Like button but logged off too quickly to notice their error.

Sadly, there are five dislikes now ... Five people with fat fingers, ADD, or just don't give a 💩!

I worked with high school students who had ASD. I think about those kids every day. What a beautiful thing. I love it. God bless everyone

Seriously, this is really unbelievable! I am a man with autism who is verbal and independent - I already graduated from a different High School back in 2006, and graduate from a different college in 2013. I haven't had any problems at all people rooting and cheering and applauding for me, which does helped me feel more good and positive, and not all loud noises bother me. But as time as, I feel bad and disappoint that none of my schoolmates and educators of both my High School and College years haven't been keenly really aware enough that, it should have been no secret of me being a student with autism would have been a big matter deal, especially to show what most other autistic students can't do. I have been a student with autism, and back in my own days of school graduation with knowing that autism is a big matter dealing everyday.
By the way... I graduated High School at the are of 19, and graduate College at the age of 26.

It would've been cool if they'd all done the sign language waving motion instead of applauding. It would've been a great way to visibly show support while remaining silent.

I beg to differ...It was a moving , perhaps spontaneous, tribute.
Frankly, a contrived flash mob display would amount to a cacophony in contrast to the loving silence and reflection evidenced by these students.

Wayne Brinker - That's true, if it were planned. It would've been a powerful gesture, though, if it happened spontaneously.
