    Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A 1939 Gibson Prewar TG -50 Archtop Tenor Guitar. This is a very rare Guitar. This is the Tenor version of the Gibson L-50 Archtop guitar. This one has been preserved in great shape. One owner with picture providence …All Original Parts and the beautiful Purple interior Lined Softshell Case with the original Leather Handle... This guitar belongs in a Museum….Check those pics!
We verified the date of the guitar from the EG on the back of the headstock indicating 1939, the Pearl Gibson Script Logo as well as two pics of the original owner with a date of 1939. These cool guitars were made from 1934 thru 1958.
The guitar is in incredible shape. All original with the exception of the bridge, it was replaced a long time ago. Original Open Back Kluson Deluxe Tuners, nut, tailpiece, and even the Pickguard. Those are always missing! No curling of the pickguard at all. I am guessing the guitar had been refretted at one time. There is some indication of some tear out in the fret areas. The frets are in excellent shape.
The guitar is 16 inches wide like the Gibson L-50, arched top of beautiful Spruce with what I was told is stained Maple back and sides. It looks mahogany to me but I am not sure. It is hard to see from the pics but it has a beautiful carved and arched back on it. It is definitely not a flat back. The guitar has a 22 ¾ inch scale neck with a 1 1/8 inch nut. A beautiful Brazillian Rosewood fret board... All we did was clean it up and replace the strings with a new set of Dr Ducks 12 gauge light strings. It plays beautifully. The neck is nice and straight but tails off a little at the body. Its attached at the 14th fret and it’s a pleasure to play. Nice low action. The truss rod works as it should and there in room on the bridge to lower and raise the action. Some slight buzzing in the higher register but I have the action set really low.
Check out that beautiful Soft Shell Original Case. All the latches, hinges and original handle are still here and working. The accessory box is still in it and the lid even had the leather opening handle. It’s as nice as the guitar.
Be sure to check out the two pics of the original owner and his band. They are very cool. I don’t usually get picture providence and have permission to include them with this incredible guitar. I am asked all the time where do your guitars come from. This one has a cool picture story!
Sold as is as it’s very vintage and used, however, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they have all loved the guitars I found them. This beautiful Gibson Tenor will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitar.

I think it sounds great in GDAE Tuning w/ John Pearse 450 Tenor Guitar Strings cause it'll mellow out the sound & give you more notes you can play.
