Sir IT is different from IS. IT branch focuses on support for hardware, network and server maintenance. IT branch doesn't deal with programming languages and software engineering but might teach some shell scripting and commands. Good for careers related to DataCenters, Cloud configuration, VPNs, Server monitoring, System Imaging, Network troubleshooting, Support Ticket management etc...Should be ready to work in shifts. Technical career path offers slow and marginal growth. Ofcourse there are odd cases of great success at early stages but not many. ISE (Information Science Engineering) branch focuses on SDLC management, in addition to software engineering and is closer to CSE. Covers programming languages and software delivery process. Even non-it companies like banks, insurance, transport, hotels, government offices, Fmcg manufacturing companies have IT department that supports their employees with installation, hardware assets, network etc.. however their main purpose is NOT software DEVELOPMENT. Hope this explains why IT branch is mediocre compared to CS/IS/AIML/DataScience/CyberSecurity etc...branches.

Isliye best college+branch combo banane ki koshish kar rha hu. Koi aur college+branch ka accha combo ban sakta hai to bataye
Ek cheez jo maine observe kari hai wo batana chahta hu. Kuch Colleges shuruat me boht tezi se grow karte hai aur ek time baad unki growth rate boht slow ho jaati hai. Boht slow matlab boht hi slow. dtu/nsut acche college hai but unki growth ab boht slow hai. cs ka avg package 16-17 lakh se 20-21 lakh Tak pahucha hai pichle 4-5 saalo main. On the other hand aap IIIT delhi/allahabad/lucknow ka avg package compare kariye pichle 4-5 saalo mein. dtu/nsut se bhi zyada hai aur ye continuously grow karte jaa rhe hai. Boht high possibility hai ki IIIT delhi dtu/nsut ko aaram se beat karde. Aur iska brand value dtu/nsut se bhi zyada ho jaega agle 8-9 years mein agar aise chalta rha. Boht confusion hai muje kyuki ho sakta hai 4 saal baad IIIT delhi/allahabad , dtu/nsut se bhi aage nikal jaaye aur fir mai regret karu dtu/nsut join karke

Go for IIITs and take education loan if possible. Edited If you're getting good NITs then go fir it, branch can be improved within 1 year depending upon your academic performance. You can perform good and improve your branch to ECE. So just go for NITs.

You need to learn coding + side by side syllabus of computer science but if you learn 1-2 language then you can sit in there coding rounds !

Reservation nhi hai na isliye dtu/nsut me cs nhi mil rha. Isliye best college+branch combo banane ki koshish kar rha hu. Koi aur college+branch ka accha combo ban sakta hai to bataye
Ek cheez jo maine observe kari hai wo batana chahta hu. Kuch Colleges shuruat me boht tezi se grow karte hai aur ek time baad unki growth rate boht slow ho jaati hai. Boht slow matlab boht hi slow.
dtu/nsut acche college hai but unki growth ab boht slow hai. cs ka avg package 16-17 lakh se 20-21 lakh Tak pahucha hai pichle 4-5 saalo main. On the other hand aap IIIT delhi/allahabad/lucknow ka avg package compare kariye pichle 4-5 saalo mein. dtu/nsut se bhi zyada hai aur ye continuously grow karte jaa rhe hai. Boht high possibility hai ki IIIT delhi dtu/nsut ko aaram se beat karde. Aur iska brand value dtu/nsut se bhi zyada ho jaega agle 8-9 years mein agar aise chalta rha. Boht confusion hai muje kyuki ho sakta hai 4 saal baad IIIT delhi/allahabad , dtu/nsut se bhi aage nikal jaaye aur fir mai regret karu dtu/nsut join karke

i am getting mechanical is some mediocre nits and cse and ece in low iiits but due to financial constraints i will chose nits , but i also have strong urge to code. so is it a good idea to opt mechanical engineering in nits and then do coding along with my core ??
and also will companies allow mechanical students to sit for placements ?

Go for IIITs and take education loan if possible.
Edited If you're getting good NITs then go fir it, branch can be improved within 1 year depending upon your academic performance. You can perform good and improve your branch to ECE. So just go for NITs.
