Someone has worked hard on the Coronation, a lot of effort to lengthen it. I wonder if some Hornby Railroad traction tyres would fit the class 31, perhaps a dealer would know. Cliff.
Yeah - it's impressive! It was apparently done over 30 years ago as well! And I think I've found the problem with the traction tyres, if you look at that type of motor (eg ringfield) you see that the top of the wheels are exposed to the gears of the motor - after servicing, fresh oil from the gears gets coated onto the traction tyres/wheels as she runs! My solution is to connect such locos up to a power supply after servicing, running them on the bench, and keep cleaning the wheels until no grease appears on them! Cheers, Sam
This video is uncannily short. Until it gets to about the seventh minute, you show what's going on. After that, all you get is a black silent screen until the last minute and seconds tick by. What went on with this, Sam? By the way, I think I've developed an Ooey, Ooey, Ooey, Allergy to your stinky diesels. I don't know why that is, other than the fact that I'm starting to sneeze over them.
