We´re moving our machines to another part of the factory, so the first thing for me and my co-worker - CNC lathe machinists - were to remove the coolant tank and chip conveyor from underneath the machine... It´s two elder Doosan Lynx 220 lathes, so there is nothing like oil separator/skimmer nor there is nothing underneath the conveyor which is right above the coolant tank, suck all the coolant out of there and get all the chips our... If I haven´t got 30 kilos of stainless/brass/steel/aluminuminiuminum chips out I haven´t got a single kilo out of there... Man, it wasn´t a coolant, it was like a fucking yoghurtr when coolant was out and just oil and goo was left in...... Shit, working as CNC machinist for just fourth month I was absolutely gross thing to clean..... I said I´m going to get myself out of bed every two months on Saturday to go and clean the coolant tanks from oil and chips, it´d be worth it to have your hands every day in mostly clean coolant than in gross coolant... Fucking clean this stuff guys, it´s something you´re getting it all over your hands
@@ericschneiter Don't know if this would matter to you, but for the next person, calibrating it to your water source that you will mix the coolant with will let you see the actual concentration of coolant to the water you have, not to something random.
@@ericschneiter if you can't set the socks up in the machine just get a pump and a couple barrels rig the socks up in the barrels and just pump into the barrels through the sock. From 1 barrel to the next then back into the tank. Repeat when nessarcy.
It’s in the works. Trying to decide on one of those separator tanks or a skimmer it shouldn’t ever get that bad again it’s just cause it sat for a year without moving. Super gross though!
I just did an 8 hour cleaning for a mazak that hasn’t been cleaned in two years.
It sucked but she’s as least running blue for now.
Respect ✊
"Nice and easy."
SPLASH ON THE WALL
Hahaha that was the most uncoordinated pour LOL.

@@gregorteply9034 hahaha! Glad I’m not the only one. 😂😂
Now I'm really glad the machines at my work have oil skimmers XD
I need to get a separator tank. This was pretty much from it sitting for so long I think haha!

Haha this is the lesson. And make sure your concentration is right. It’s not always easy with these old machines but if maintained they can run nice.
Where i work the coolant has big black bubles floating on top of coolant without ventilation.... Embaresing for company with 1400 employees....
Did you ever calibrate your refractometer? You should see a line at 0.
Not sure, my rep told me to mix to 7% on the mix line and that’s where I keep my concentration. What does calibrating it do?

Come to my workplace our coolant is worse than that most times lmaoo.
HOW?! Where do you work? This s was so bad I can’t imagine worse.
GREAT! VID Thank you!
Filter socks my man, they work wonders.
Haha nice. Ill look into it. We drained her and topped back up with fresh this summer. I was running it too low on the mix.

Why don't you just buy a skimmer? We added them all to our machines

4:14 chips n dip 🤮
It was so bad. Haha. Never again will I let that happen.
😂😂😂😂😂
Get skimmer
