      Bro why (OH) is in bracket...plzz explain 🙏 I didn't get this...

    • @BotBananaYT
      @BotBananaYT 3 роки тому +4

      @@aviedits_in OH is a radical called hydroxide with 1 valency. A radical is an ion consisting of a group of ions with a single charge. Eg: sodium hydroxide NaOH or Ca(OH)2(OH is in bracket because calcium has 2 valency and when you do criss cross valency method, OH will get 2 valency. OH in sodium has only 1 valency hence, no bracket is needed because sodium and hydroxide have 1 valency and doing criss cross method will cancel the 1's) . You can think radicals as elements when writing chemical equation. But, note that they aren't elements. Sorry for late reply.

    When calcium carbonate mix with water in a clear glass and let it rest for few hours, I see clear liquid on top and cloudy liquid at bottom of glass. Someone had told me that clear liquid a form of Ca(OH)2 which is lime water, is it correct? If it's correct, that means the above reaction in this video is reversible reaction, isn't it? Thanks.

    • @wbreslyn

      Let's see. Ca(OH)2 would be a aqueous in this equation for the CO2 to react. The CO2 is a gas. CaCO3 isn't very soluble so most of it would be a solid (see Solubility Rules: ua-cam.com/video/zffVKN6tm7k/v-deo.html ) and H2O is a liquid. --- Dr.B

    • @wbreslyn

      I find that after practice you don't need to write as much and can sometimes do them by just writing coefficients. But to be sure you've got the equation balanced correctly you do need to accurately count. Maybe just do a small table and only write the elements on the left side?
