    Rosemary - did you put a handle on your bag? If so - how?

    • @rose883
      @rose883  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I usually make some cordage out of leather and then attach it. Because of the structure built into the bag ((that's why it's laid out the way it is), you can cut a small hole in the side (wet your finger and quickly rub the inside of the hole to felt it a bit) then tie the handle on. I've had bags for years that never rip out. Felt is very strong.

    Hi this is a wonderful video:) I could not find the follow up video to this one that shows how to put a strap on and how to embellish?

    I like the combination of natural colors of wool! It is a pity that I can not touch the product in the final result!

      That is hard to do over a video. You may have it be tight or spongy...as long as the fibers are well linked. When this occurs, there is almost nothing save a pair of good scissors that can tear that wool apart. When I make a hat (upcoming videos this week on that), I like the brim very stiff and the fibers very close together, so it maintains its shape. When you squeeze it with your fingers there is very little give to the brim. Hope you get to try this. It is a very intuitive art form that takes practice (I've been doing this over 15 years). Let me know if you have questions.

    One other quick question. Approximately how many ounces of wool (I am using alpaca) do I need for the bag? Mine came out way too thin (which is what you said beginners might do!) LOL

      I have never weighed the amount that i have used....to avoid having it too thin in the future, press down on the wool, and carefully feel for the thickness under your fingers. You should be able to feel how close your pan underneath is. There is a lot of air in the wool as you lay it out. It can fool you...

    My god, you’re so cute! I love your positive energy. Does the type of soap you use matter when felting? I’m using dish soap and lets just say that it isn’t going too well, haha. 😅

      The type of Soap is important. Biodegradable works best. I like Dawn or Dr. Bronners (which can get expensive). Also check the kind of wool you are using. I have a whole video on preparing to felt that might help.

    Best video, thanks so much Rosemary. I loved to see the sheep in the other video too. What temperature of water you use?
    Funny after a while taking off the soap out and continuiing I did intuitively too.

      I generally use cool or room temperature water. Heat speeds up the process. My wool is so fast that I want the time to be able to keep control of the fibers as they felt.
