  • We acknowledge our children and you are our treasure and seek the valuable source of cultural knowledge and wisdom. The Tokelau Hutt Valley community ran four tupulaga Fatele workshops to explain the story of each Fatele performed.
This video series captures one of the workshops and the performance day at the Wellington Pasifika Festival on 11th February 2023.
The workshops were in the language the youth felt most comfortable with, our gagana Tokelau and English language. The workshops were led and guided by lead tutor/youth worker Henio Koloi and Akenehe Pereira (Tokelau Hutt Valley President).
We thank ACE Aotearoa and Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Pacific Community Languages Fund unit for allowing us to create environments to help maintain and grow our speakers, and strengthen our youth's cultural confidence.
We are looking forward to creating more opportunities, environments, and workshops for our Tokelau Hutt Valley community
We believe that we can all gain insight from these workshops and the documentation of this contributes to the preservation of our gagana Tokelau, our culture and our heritage, thus making it an invaluable resource for future generations. Tokelau ke ola
