Lightning strikes causes most of the fires in a region that doesn't generally get lightning and when it's been nothing but sunny weather for the last 2 weeks? Doesn't add up.

The BC interior regularly gets lightning... And dry lightning during heat waves. This isn't some new phenomenon, it's the extremely dry forests that are the problem

@@Jessev741 The interior, yes, but the coast doesn't. Lightning here is very rare, and usually occurs in winter when it's wet.

Looking at a lightning map online I count about 50 in the past 24 hours between Kelowna, Revelstoke and Nelson.

@@albane2885 I have worked in the forest industry for 19 years and have yet to run into someone who was paid to “rake the forest”. Perhaps this could be a small scale strategy to protect urban areas, but is ludicrous/impossible to adopt over the entire forest.

Why not train and pay more property-tax part-time fire-fighters instead of the higher cost of non-domestic fire-fighters?!?
Why have I still not, as a person living in a motorhome, seen any information about communities seeking to help support relocations for the long-term willing firefighters who would sign a contract to move there - and not because their last homes burned down, but because BC does not offer housing for them, or the housing support to pay for anything that they find!?!

Much of the province is technically a desert. Dry conditions are perfectly normal.
Technically only a tiny part of BC is a desert. Although the interior is significantly more dry than the coast. But the most important thing is that the climate is changing.
