Get ready to witness the greatest cinematic masterpiece of our time. Join me as I delve deep into the psyche of the iconic character, Clara, as she embarks on a magical journey through the dreamlike world of the Nutcracker. From the stunning visuals to the mesmerizing soundtrack, we'll be dissecting every element that makes this movie an absolute masterpiece.
the nutcracker version of the prince was hotter than the human version, my younger self was obsessed
You are so right
Same I was so upset when he transformed at the end and looked completely different
YOU SPOKE THE LANGUAGE OF FACTS
Its the same in beauty and the beast for me. I thing the problam is actuali human man suck same times :/
You’re not wrong bestie
I feel like the flower trail in Clara's footsteps is a lil foreshadow to her being the sugar plum princess cause its like the kingdom is already healing with her presence!!
we are indeed Tim curry stans in this house
I fullyyyyyyyyy believe that captain candy and major mint are 💅🏼💅🏼 the lil feather on captain candy's turban is rainbow
YESSSS LOVE THIS
Fun Fact: this is the only Barbie movie where the phrase “I love you” is said
omg this really is a fun fact!!! thats so cute!!
@@jordyscomputer IKR?! I love it!
Whaaaa?!?!?!?!
You're right!
Mother Gothel and Prince Stefan's Dad have an argument in the finale about their relationship being platonic vs romantic. "You loved me!" "No I didn't."
Prince Daniel confesses his love for Odette in Swan Lake on two occasions, but never uses the specific phrase "I love you." His specific words are "It's you I love, if you'll have me."'
Brietta in Magic of Pegasus says "I love them" about her parents as her reason for sacrificing something precious to her.
And then my memory of barbie movie scripts fizzles out. But you are correct! This is the first, last, and only time "I love you" is used.
Not me asking my mom for a nutcracker for Christmas and me hoping he'd turn into a prince, just like this movie.
you were so real for that
@@jordyscomputer this movie is the whole reason for my atheistic. I just purchased a Clara doll recently and she is so pretty.
@@prowlandsasuke omg that is incredible
@@prowlandsasukeClara doll? Which brand? Is it just a Barbie doll from 2001?
My sis was the EXACT same way!
To me, this was cinema. This was the greatest Barbie film.
you are so correct for this
princess and the pauper was also pretty good. and barbie in Rapunzel , and swan lake.
I liked this movie growing up but hearing you explain it reminds me of trying to explain a dream you had to somebody, trying to justify how it was really cool and made so much sense but the person listening will never understand because they weren't there. I think that's how I feel about all barbie movies and the general public: They will never understand how awesome it was because they weren't there.
This is the most incredible analysis of my video ive ever seen. Thank you 🫶
true tho!! Also love your Chao pfp XD
Even as a kid I thought the nutcracker dude looked hotter before becoming human again 🫣
correct!
It’s like when Beast from Beauty and the beast turns into a person😂
@@annikkirahko6714who tf thought beast was hotter? My dude.. my duuuude,.. come on… the man looked like a Swedish Greek sculpted model with long and luscious hair
@@Puppy_Puppington his human form is kind of disappointing
“He completely reverses the spell onto the rat king and he jumps into some water and that is the beginning of Ratatouille”😂😂😂 Loved this!!!!
Thank mom 😂😂😂💓
I really loved how this film played with light. A lot of the edges of character models weren't very crisp, but blurring it with the light was successful in making it feel dreamy, almost lulling. They even took the time to put in the shadows and really bring depth to the more dim scenes. And as for the brighter scenes, they just put in so much color! especially when they dappled the green hill sides with flowers - they didn't just use a variety of pinks, practically every patch is a condensed pastel rainbow of flowers. And at the very end when we see the castle is healed, they put in a rainbow fade all around the edge of the screen, which made the landscape feel very intense for a moment. This film is honestly one of the most gorgeous animated films to come out of the early 2000's.
This was such an amazing interpretation! I agree, despite the lack of detail it looks so dreamy!!
@@jordyscomputer maybe the lack of detail helped with that as well, I often can't remember my dreams in much detail but it's all a little hazy and blurry, I think the film captures that very well with the ways it plays with light and color and blurriness
Tell me why this movie had more plot than the actual Nutcracker ballet
this is literally so true
Depends on the interpretation, because some of the later renditions are jam-packed with cool characters and plots
The older Barbie movies had so much detail and facial expressions that were very noticeable. Plus Barbie’s roles were voiced by the queen, Kelly Sheridan. Such a shame she stopped after Great Puppy Adventure.
AGREED, so simple but still so pretty 💖
she deserved a cameo in barbie :((
Mattel did Kelly *SO* dirty and I will never forget that ;-; you’ll think voicing the most iconic doll in history for over a decade straight meant something in the professional relationship. Not to forget that Mattel fired her once BEFORE in 2010 and she only came back because fans were upset 👀
Only Tim Curry can make you thirst for any villain, even literal anthropomorphic smog.
prince Eric being a physics major is my new favourite headcanon
rise up
I had the dolls of Clara and Prince Eric when I was a kid, and Eric's outfit was a nightmare to get on and off. I have the music from the whole ballet memorized since I was a kid, and whenever I rewatch the movie, I have to stop myself from just closing my eyes and listening to the soundtrack, which is so faithful to the ballet. My mom also got me a ballerina ornament like the one Clara puts on the tree because I was so obsessed with this movie.
This "boy Kelly" is actually no Kelly, but Tommy (Ken's younger brother). The brown haired flower fairy isn't played by Kelly, but Jenny (Kelly's friend).
I think that's the joke.
My favourite part from this movie exactly was that the Nutcracker was ready to fight the Mouse King. "Sugar Plum Princess or no Sugar Plum Princess, that rat has got to be stopped!" And the way that he jumped on the balcony, he was ready to stand for him. "Is this anyway to run a kingdom, Mouse?" I think that was actually funny!😄🙂
i love when the mouse king said "i obviously didnt shrink you small enough for your mouth is still much too big" he is BURNING barbie with that phrase. LOVED IT.🤣
in the original ballet, drosselmeir is the one who made the nutcracker and some life size clockwork dolls that do a little dance at the party.
the is some CRITICAL lore
@@jordyscomputer theres also like. a ton more Candy People with a bunch of cool outfits and dance routine. One of my personal favorites who isn’t in the Barbie movie is Mother Ginger and her kids. Mother Ginger’s dance is mostly arm movements, as the dancer playing her is always on a stool with wheels surrounded by a massive skirt. The dancers playing her kids come out of the skirt and also dance for Clara. Theres always one kid who’s supposed to be trying to show off and has to get dragged back in the skirt after the dance is over. I played that one when I was younger, my mom played Mother Ginger that year :)
@twideslauriers7875 actually my ballet school has mother ginger on stilts in a big skirt
Thats really the only difference though just wanted to say ig
A lot of interpretations have Drosselmeir summon all the magic to bring the Nutcracker to life and shrink Clara. He's a clockwork wizard who makes all the cool stuff happen.
My aunt actually did gift me a nutcracker when I was around ten-ish, then I wasn't allowed to keep it because my father at the time took it as an insult that she gave me a fancy nutcracker, I kid you not lol
You are a real life clara omg
wtf lol. Those little guys are cool. Why did he take offense lol!?
I find it funny that arguably the best version of the nutcracker is from Barbie. There is no better version or adaptstion.
i know! its the most interesting version of the nutcracker that really has a plot and plot twist good foreshadowing and boy the voice casting is AMAZING! i dont know if you know the tv show NINJAGO but the nutcracker is voiced by the earth ninja coles OG voice actor. its really cool!
Major Mint is kinda my favorite, his voice lines are top tier tbh even though he's a little arrogant at times. Also HIS DANCING. A whole ass meal.
LITERALLY I live for his entire aesthetic
My brother LOVED this movie he’d ask to watch it and aquamarine. I asked him if he remembered that and he said “fuck yea it banged”
TASTE
THESE 2 MOVIES (along with Barbie as Rapunzel) are my TOP 3 MOVIES EVER!!!! AAAAAAA 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔 Aquamarine specifically is my #1 favorite movie and hyperfixation!!!!
I love how when she lists off the accomplishments of Tim Curry, his surely most significant role of Pennywise the clown wasn't even mentioned lol this man literally has the biggest range of any actor ever
Tim Curry voices the villain Forte in Beauty and The Beast Enchanted Christmas and I thought that was where you were going with that lol
Honestly I can't believe this is only your second video on this channel, you seem so comfortable on camera and I also love your humor :)
Thank you !!! Means so much
Tommy in 10 years is going to be in court as Claire takes the stand saying, “my brother would never do such a thing those people are lying!”
LMAOOO
Please talk about Aiden from the Barbie Pegasus movie. The second best male love interest of any Barbie movie. Behind Julian from the Princess and Pauper movie ofc 💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽
oh I WILL
Wait are you forgetting King Dominick ? Blessed man with humor, appreciation for the arts, and respectfully let’s Erika live her dream because he loves her
@jordysyoutubechannel still waiting for it ❤
YES this film is so iconic thank you for giving me an excuse to watch it!!
its time for its resurgence!!
The way prince Eric entered the room is so hot 😂🥵🔥
No cuz my best friend jokes that I’m a grandma when I say I love classical music but he would never get it. This and Barbie in Swan Lake altered my brain chemistry!!!!
This movie is ICONIC. It was an imagination wonderland as a kid. The only thing that doesn't absolutely hold up is the animation. I wish they would take all the motion capture data and voice performances and just remaster the animation. What a treasure
i know! it waas a 2001 animation but the story and voice acting is so good i can look past the arguably bad animation. and im very perticular how a movie looks. kirby morrow as the nutcracker is such a amazing voice casting hes a great voice actor.
No one on UA-cam has done a review on Barbie Mariposa! Girl I would love if you were the first one to do a review on it!❤ loving your videos, keep up the awesome work!
Adding it to my list RIGHT NOW
I had this on vhs and my mom sold it when I was a kid.
Literally the only one she sold. Kept the veggie tales, literally every irrelevant vhs.
It broke my heart
that is genuinely so heartbreaking
The *most* unbelievable part of the entire story is that a rock drowns
It might still be alive, since i doubt it needs to breathe. Dude was just too thick and the frozen lake couldn't handle his bakery
My favorite fun fact is that the voice actors for the nutcracker and Clara are the VA's for Songo and Miroku from Inuyasha
the barbie movie love to anime enjoyer pipeline is real
I knew about kelly being the va to both barbie and sango but i had NO IDEA it was the same va for the nutcracker/prince eric and miroku😭 that makes me so happy awww💞
Apparently there are multiple VAs in this who were also in Inuyasha as well
I really love that part of the Barbie movie when the Nutcracker told Clara that he was just wood! But Clara knew that he was much more than wood. "Prince Eric"! she said when she kissed the Nutcracker on the cheek. That was just so sweet! ❤🤴💂♂️💖💖💖💖💖❤
i know the nutcrackers personality is so likable not to mention his voice actor kirby morrow is such a talented guy.
THE VHS TAPE. I also had this on VHS and i watched it ONCE before accidentally destroying the film 😭😭
in the nutcracker performance i grew up watching, clara and her friends try to beat up her brother and his friends but it's a ballet and they're surrounded by parents
That’s some DRAMA i love it
Watching this video reminded me that captain candy and major mint were my fave characters, and also there’s definitely a lot of romantic tension there
I don't know how i found your channel, but congrats, wish you the best x
omg thank you SO MUCH
so this is why everytime there are talk about Nutcracker movie, so many mention this version. I guess i underestimate this movie popularity because this is a barbie retelling of classic stories. it is interesting that this becomes almost a definitive version of Nutcracker movie. Also why the ballet is Russian, the story is written by German author amd set in Nuremberg, Germany.
Drosselmayer must be actually German as well as Clara. Tchaikovsky was Russian, right, but the Nutcracker ballet is based on a German fairytale.
oooooo INTERESTING thank you for the knowledge legend !!!
I got siblings (half, but siblings nonetheless). Can confirm, the sibling rivalry can be that silly sometimes. However, our preferred method includes calling each other obscene names unknown to God's language before hugging each other.
As for the toy stuff? Yeah, I'd throw either or both of my bros off the roof of my house if they dare break my stuff. Batista bomb their asses. Love 'em, though, wouldn't trade them for the world.
*I'm not surprised if that white sugar on his nose turns in to something else when he's older* Why do I feel the same way-
HAHAHAHA
This is the first video I’ve ever seen from you, and since yesterday I’ve been on a binge of your channel. I’m a year older than you (if I remember correctly) and only got to see a lot of the movies you review bc my mom cleaned for people who had cable 😂 I never saw some of the movies you’ve covered, but it still feels cozy listening to you 😊 so thanks for being good companionship for this woman who lives alone 🩵
The lightings in this one is immaculate
I’m listening while I work and as soon as you said Captain Candy and Mick were eating everyone up at the end for the post movie dancing, and without looking a memory was unlocked and I could already see them in my head. Yes indeed they ate DOWNNNNNN😂
You have NO IDEA how OBSESSED my eleven year old self was with this movie
Oh snap it’s the one Barbie movie (vhs) I had as a kid. I remember I’d curli up with a cup of Cocoa on the couch downstairs watching it during the cold, dark winter months. One of those movies that looks so fugly now but the nostalgia gives me such warm fuzzies.
Congrats, you just became my FAVORITE female commentator!!!! I love you humor and personality sm! And you editing is really really good :)
I am HONORED Emma!!!
You are so right about the nutcracker being hotter in his nutcracker form vs. his human form. They did him so dirty??
@@jordyscomputer AWwww Thank you XD!!! And they really did such a pity but the movie makes up for it for being so amazing!
The nutcracker transformation is the biggest downgrade in history, my young self was so disappointed :(
I really adore how you did a deep dive on barbie but didn't know who Tim Curry was or Lord of the Rings. Unironically, it's truly a breath of fresh air, I feel like we're besties now.
I had the dolls for this movie! I rewatched it every Christmas. Such an incredible masterpiece
absolutely who is the best in this movie? my fav is absolutely the nutcracker his voice his personality are both peak.
Tim Curry is also in the Beauty and the Beast Christmas movie
OMG????
He also voices Hexus in Ferngully 🥰
As someone who's danced both Snow and Flowers multiple times, they're both... exhausting and difficult, but wonderful to watch and perform. And the dance Mint and Candy perform is Russian Trepak from Land of Sweets, which is actually really fun to perform.
i loved when they did the coffee grinder move. and the nutcrakers voice and personality are so GOOD
my favorite Tim Curry role was Hexxus from Ferngully
I have never heard of that but it sounds incredible and I must watch
@@jordyscomputer omg you never seen Ferngully?! It's such a good environmental awareness movie imho
yah periodt definitely a must watch
This is one of my top 3 favorite Barbie movies. The other ones are 12 Dancing Princess and Swan Lake. I loved the ballet themed ones
what did you think of the princess and the pauper? also wasnt the nutcrackers character was great?
@ It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. I do remember enjoying it a lot. My parents got my sister’s and I the dolls from the movie that sang. I remembered the song I’m Just Like You from it more than anything
@@maem7462 samee that song and the song cats meow with woofie was my favs
woofie is such a adorable animated cat!
@@maem7462 its really cool you got the dolls!
@@TomTheCat29 Yes woofie is adorable
i never saw this movie all the way thru as a kid (my disk didnt work), but i remember thinking the Nutcracker was particularly handsome. glad to know im not alone in that line of thinking
Bro, watching movies on VHS in my bedroom on repeat bro. Like I had a McDonald's movie, a few Arthur episodes, and a Gundam movie 😭
Tim curry has played some of the best kids movies villians like hw has voice acted in 200+ kids movies
this movie started my ballet era
thats so iconic
this was my favourite favourite movie growing up and this was one of the best videos i have ever seen !!! you are so funny i was literally cry laughing this entire video ily queen and thank you for this such a nostalgia trip with the perfect amount of hilarious commentary
also would you consider doing a commentary on any other barbie movies because i would watch all of them i am your no1 fan now
YES I will be watching more!!
“You wanna know who ruins it?” * extremely loud ad for Mufasa *. Yeah, remembering that movie’s going to exist ruins a lot of stuff for me, too. 😂
Tim Curry was also in IT, Worst Witch, Beauty and the Beast's Christmas special, Fern Gully, a television show adaptation of Peter Pan. Basically, he is in everything. 😂
I google a review of the Barbie nutcracker bc I remembered it being a fever dream and you did not disappoint, thank you so much❤
dawg i haven't seen this movie in 15 years, but it's my fav barbie movie and also... since then, i've loved rocky horror & other tim curry films. the way i SCREAMED when the mouse king started speaking on his throne & i was like "IS THAT TIM CURRY???" and immediately was validated... incredible. this film is oscar worthy just for the presence of tim curry. thank you. god bless.
so when i was super young like 5 i watched this movie repeatedly i was so OBSESSED WITH IT and the nutcracker. on christmas my parents bought me a nutcracker that came in a box and wrapped it up, and knocked on the door outside (so i thought it was actually him knocking lol) 23 now and i still have that nutcracker (and yes i definitely preferred his nutcracker self its so much more interesting and hes a silver fox yes please)
THIS is so CUTE
Tim curry lives rent free in my mind, IT was one of the first movies that actually scared me
Finally people talking about how this movie is literally perfection-it will forever be my favorite Barbie movie and one of my all time favorite movies ever it is a huge hyperfixation of mine LMAO
It's one of the main reasons ballet and Tchaikovsky's music are CORE interests of mine, this movie shaped my childhood and me basically
the way i RESONATE with this
I first watched this movie on a VHS tape when I was 6 years old and fell madly in love with the nutcracker.
I’m 28 years old now and still madly in love with him no man will ever compare in my eyes.
And yes I’m talking about the giant wooden nutcracker not the human man prince. Judge me all you want I said what I said.
i am with you all the way the wooden nutcracker version of eric i always thought was handsomer also his voice actor kirby morrow is so good i always thought the nutrackers voice was so good and pure. also how they changed the story while making it MORE interesting than the OG is hard but a great accomplishment this movie is AMAZING

OMG locket necklace?!?!?1 THAT IS INCREDIBLE
When I watched this movie as a little

HAHHAHHAHA they had TASTE
Not me getting chills at the sugar plum princess reveal

Oh, I whatched only this two videos of yours. And you know what? I like you. I definitely need more of this content about Bratz and Barbie in my life. Thank you!
This means so much!! MORE VIDEOS COMING
this movie caused the big bang and its about time scientists acknowledged it >:(
Ive been in the actual ballet of the nutcracker 3 times. And in one of the performances days the nutcracker we used, its arm actually broke. So it was actually broken. I was a maid that year. This most recent year i was a polka dancer. The hit with the shoe is an actual thing from the ballet. After watching this it was my childhood dream to be in this ballet. I achieved that. (I also did a version of the 12 dancing princesses and now i get to do swan lake. Childhood coming true in my 20s)
I mean I understand that the animation of this movie doesn’t look all that great now but for the time this was peak animation and changed everything in new age movies and shows
I treasure this movie even more after Kirby Morrow’s passing… He played one of my favorite characters in Ninjago AND The Nutcracker himself! I loved this movie before, but after Kirby passed a few years ago I now TREASURE it because of him ❤️🖤
im with you all the way!!! i watched it again and emediatly relized he had the voice of cole from ninjago!! it made me love this film so much more i always when i was younger perticurly liked the nutcrackers voice but hadnt watch ninjago and didnt know who voiced him. when i found out i was going crazy such a good casting to such a talented man. rip kirby morrow he made so many great characters truly come to life.
Fun Fact: Bats actually have good eyesight! They can actually see in pitch black but cannot see in sharp colorful vision humans have.
my second favorite movie of all time,, and i still,, everytime without a fail,, cry my eyes out at the end when the rat king takes away her necklace and she starts disappearing 😭💔
OMG LITERALLY that part was so emotional
My mom bought me a beautiful ballerina ornament as a kid just so i could have my Clara moment every year because something about that scene had me obsessed
Tell me why Pim looks exactly like Legoshi from Beastars… their faces are identical, I’m going to cry myself to sleep 💀
I love Barbie in the Nutcracker, it's my favorite Barbie movie I've watched so far!
Taste!
"is Tchaikovsky russian?" is the most american thing I've ever heard lmao
Literally my favorite Barbie movie, like I LOVED watching it growing up and I'm going to rewatch this december
YESSSSSS
The fan cam of major mint had me dead.
thanks for this everyone who was responsible to make this movie & thanks to the nature for having me in a era where these kind of things used to be existed ....
there's definitely some chemistry between major mint and captain candy
I find it highly unethical that Preminger’s villain origin story is one of your least viewed videos. I watched that video awhile back and it absolutely ate. Im glad to be back to watch this amongst other videos of yours!
I was trying to remember if I had seen this specific movie before and was waiting til the faux castle trap was mentioned and while it's not looking exactly the way i rememberred it from when I was younger I'm now pretty sure old me has seen this film! Barbie movies were my chilldhood. I'm glad people still talk about them.
Edit: Yep! I have seen this! I for some reason remembered Clara encountering the Rat guards in the castle to have been inside the trap somehow but that was ofc not the case. Some vague memories were just getting mixed up! I'm actually really glad because it feels so cool to have this be my childhood.
Obvi, a physics major would b a terrible leader. That headcanon 100% makes sense.
Also this was the start of Barbie purposely propagandisationing the youth. Tchaikovsky? Male lovers Candy & Mint? Very on-the-nose, Barbie.
Not you still having the Barbie VHS!! Now that’s a flex! 🫡
Lol wtf did a double take when I saw u didn’t have at least 50k subscribers I love this channel I want more of my nostalgia talked about NOW
its on the WAY
See I was always under the impression that Barbie is or was the headliner for a prestigious Ballet company whenever they do a production of The Nutcracker and The Mouse King. This is why she's constructed this elaborate story about Clara, the character she's supposed to play, and Eric.
She teaches Ballet to children as a side hustle or she'd opened her own studio at some point.
That's also why she looks like Clara, it's because she kinda sorta is Clara. Loved this one as a kid, thanks for actually doing a video about it. Love that they motion captured the dancers and had choreographies.
I like the night gown, but I don't think Mattel ever made that look into a doll.
This movie set my brain chemistry as a kid. I watched it on repeat for years on vhs... today i find my work has influence behind it and it was completely unintentional, but its absolutely there.
Also I am so gay for Eric... The Nutcracker Eric, not the human one. And high agree. Captain Candy and Major Mint are just funny lil husbands to me. I adore this movie 😭
The nutcracker and Major Mint was my silver fox awakening lmao
Tommy and Clara are a bit like me and my sisters. They’d get into my stuff and I’d jokingly threaten to tell our dad on them.
I could be the only one that thinks the human Eric is just as hot as the wooden version 😂💜
You should review the adventures of tom thumb and thumbelina. It was my favorite movie growing up and i used to watch it every day.
