GEAR USED: In this episode, I was swinging a Shimano Premium T Curve 722 light spin rod matched to a Shimano 1000 Stradic reel spooled with 6 pound PowerPro braid and attached to a metre or two of 8 pound Ocea FC leader. Catching 40 yr old bream is a treat to remember, hence these breeders need to be returned to the water. We, Aussies, excel in that habit, judging by many YT videos...we care for the future fishing enjoyment, so well done.
Adding an extra split ring to allow the hook to hang a bit lower has definitely increased my hook up rate when using cicadas for bream. I can't wait until the cicada bite in the Basin fires up. Some very nice Bream in your vid Starlo 👌🏽
Thanks for that! Yes, I agree. The downside is that the hook will also foul up more often on the leader when casting with the extra split ring added... swings and roundabouts.
Awesome Steve, there going off on the Manning river as well. there good fun on the smaller size Zman frogs too. Glad to see you released them to fight another day.
We don’t get those bugs here in the Uk but when I went on holiday to Cyprus you couldn’t here anything but them they were buzzing there hearts out there brilliant reminds me of being on holiday! Some cracking fish Steve looked like a lotta fun 👍
I tend to not name locations if there’s no reason to. This one is more about a technique and a time of year than a location and there’s fishing like that on tap from Queensland to Victoria at the moment. 👍

That take on the second fish was so sick Starlo!!!

Cheers for that. 👍
LOVE the excitement & joy you have with every hookup & landed bream! :)
@@robertapearce5924 thanks! Yes, hopefully I’ll never lose that! 👍
2 quality bream on surface now that is my idea of fun. Looking forward to the next instalment 💜🎣
You and me both! Might have to wait until after the rain now. 🫤
What a great stretch of water, I always loved fishing Moruya when I lived down south
It really is!
Great stuff! Thanks Steve
@@pigsandapples no worries!

I love surface fishing! All I could think was "well Bugga" where were those beasts when you fished the Pirtek Challenge :)
You and me both!
Beautiful fish. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Hi do you have an email address?
Wow, those are GREAT yellowfin mate! Would be fun to try that on some of my little bass cicada patterns....😃
They’ll work for sure Peachy. Just need the vote to crank up a bit more first I think… current weather not helping. 🫤
I wonder if Mangrove Jack might savage these also ?? That would be awesome fun
@@davidcarlisle6560 I’m sure they would!
@ I’ll have a rip in this summer 👍
Great stuff, worth having a lure or two in the tackle box
For sure! 👍
Love it mate!
Im heading into a local creek tomorrow to film the exactly the same thing!
Bream, EPs and Bass on Cicadas, nothing beats it!
Sounds great! Have fun!

Thanks 👍 Yes, it’s a fun way to fish, that’s for sure.
Gday steve, how do you think a surface popper would work? thanks for the upload!
Yep, popper works well in that situation too. I just like “matching the hatch” and fishing cicada patterns when the cicadas are thick.
Cod season tomorrow I always take cicada lures
Thanks
Thank YOU! 👍👍👍
A bream feast from above Cicadian Rythm Cycle synchronised. lol. Cheers Starlo.🍻
Spot on.
Crackin bream.
I wonder if you can skip cast those lures in to entice a hookup
You can indeed. I'm not great at it, but I have a crack sometimes. It works!

Yes, it sure was a lot of fun. Seems cicadas occur in one form or another in lots of regions, but clearly not everywhere. Thanks for watching! 👍
Just asking if the new 24 poison adrena rods in the 610UL will be good for Bream fishing and light finesse
Perfect I reckon! 👍
Have you tried the Tiemco tricky trout Cicadas yet?
No, But I think I've got one in my collection... must give it a run!
You could of popped a harness on those bream and tow your boat back to the ramp
@@Chrismoore-qx3zq 🤣👍
MORUYA! I live there
