Have owned this knife (blackout edition) for many years and it’s my go-to for edc. Have use to process some kindling as well as campsite utility and it’s performed flawlessly.
Now that's a knife! Waited a full year of EDC of this outstanding tool, and I do mean extremely rugged and useful tool. In the year EDC, this knife fully caped, gutted, back strapped and haunched two deer harvested by bow and rifle. Even removed the skull cap, to retain the antlers of the 8 pointer. This tool and a folding hack saw were the only wood processing implements I needed to set up 7 different camps for hunting and fishing. The CUT batoned through 4-5" hardwood firewood like a much longer blade. Kindling, no problem, shaving, no problem, pegs for the rain fly, no problem, wading staff for fly fishing, no problem, filleting fish, no problem, cutting tenderloin venison steaks, no problem. What a knife!! Only needed to touch up the blade twice in a year, and accepted beautifully. Highly recommend this CUT 4.0, short of a zombie apocalypse, there is no reason to carry any other blade.
Wingman, I went ahead and bought this knife based on your review. ZERO regrets! I'm EDC'n this bad boy every chance I get. Total preformer and rockin some serious cool factor. Absolutely 5 stars! Thanks for the review Sir!
Incredible review I watched it 4 times!!’ CUT 4.0 is an amazing knife!! Truly a leap forward compared to typical designs! This seems a versatile EDC & self defense & having the toughness for bush craft!!! Love it
Yeah, you got me. Just ordered it. I have always loved the karambit ring, but wasn’t into the lack of utility use. This is an all around every day blade that fits every task. My kind of knife. Can’t wait to carry and use it.
I like it. I am used to Karambits for fighting, so this might be take a little bit of getting used to, but I could definitly see me carrying this. I am impressed by how well it held up to your testing.
I love my CUT 4.0. I also have a medium hand and it fits perfectly. I carry it on my pack or belt when I take it hiking. It's great in food prep when I camp. So far it has done everything I ask of a Utility knife. I highly recommend it.
This was the first Tops I purchased. Actually, I bought two...I'm a sucker for karambits though, particularly ones with more multi-purpose blade profiles than the traditional hawkbill. To paraphrase Beyoncé, I really like it if they thought to put a ring on it! It's a 5+ from me, and fantastic review sir
Been looking for a good karambit/survival, fixed blade to carry for my L.E. sniper kit. Just happened to find this at a gun show today and was able to pick it up at a crazy good price. Pictures and video don't do it justice. You gotta get your hands on it to truly appreciate the quality... And a lifetime warranty! I love it, and can't wait to be told I'm not allowed to carry it. 😂 Awesome review of a very qualified knife👍👍👍 5
great video! I give it a 5/5!...was going to buy either the Tops Skinat or Boker Fairbairn dagger or the Tops Mil-Spie 3...for EDC & daily defensive...but now I'm sold on the 4.5...more substantial than the Tops Baja, just as good penetration as the Tops Bootlegger--and maybe even better 'purchase point' with the Ring. Also, the carry kydex is better than the one w/the huge metal clip...again, GREAT VIDEO!!! :)
Hey Jon, First and foremost, you've got a great channel! I've been a subscriber for about 18 months. I don't have a TOPS C.U.T. 4.0 yet, as the only item that I would be concerned about is the grip as I have extra large hands. Other than that, I'd give this knife 5 stars. Keep up the great work Jon!
I would love Tops to do this knife in the stone wash that they do. just like the silent hero. All around a great EDC !Great review!First person to test this blade the way you did!Great job chief!!
Just picked up this knife and wow. This is my new edc blade its pretty light easy to index and conceleals pretty well. Its probably the perfect all in one knife 🔪
'Merica! haha that was great! Ok Jon you just sold me on this now, I am glad I got to hold the blade because now seeing your test I'm 110% sure I want to carry this EDC! Awesome review! Yeah! 'MERICA!
BIG 5.... My favorite hunting knife is the CRKT Carcajou which is a Russ Kromer design...this is like the Kromer knife on steroids... Will be purchasing one of these shortly....
I like the design, the tests you put it through showed the performance, based on what you did I would give it a 4.5. I would have to hold it to know if I would want one, and I do want to get a hold of one!
haha Merica! Merica! great review as always bro and the knife id give 5 if they offer different blade shapes... if not then 4. id really like to see this in a clip point design
I'd give it a 4 from your review, only cuz I'd prefer about one more inch in a defense knife. AND I'd prefer they dropped the blade thickness down to 0.13 like some of their other blades. We need to get away from the way-overlong fashion of making EDC blades in crowbar thickness. A blade designed for edc defense should not have to be thicker than a mora, which is more than enough to use against assailants. I'm a HUGE fan of karambit rings in defensive knives, and rocked the old stubby benchmade utility karambit folder for the last ten years before I retired. I confirmed through knife classes that people often fail to retain training blades when facing off against actual assailants (in force on force). The karambit ring solves that crucial yet underrated problem. And it also helps with foolproof draws. Under stress, even many fixed blades are missed by drawers' hands. Good review.
Outstanding bro! Great test! I really liked the pork roast test. ANERICA!! Lol, I give that knife a 5 out of 5. It's like a knife that I would design. The designer hit the nail on the head with making a knife for every use. The perfect knife to take anywhere. I have a question for you Jon, what are the restrictions on carrying a fixed blade in California? I'm gonna be in the LA area Memorial Day weekend, I'm wanting to carry my knife and I hope not to stir the legality pot. Have a great weekend yourself. Thanks for sharing.
***** It says I can't carry a knife or dagger in plain view. Does that mean I can have it under my shirt like how you had the CUT 4.0 in a cross draw position but with my shirt over it? Or do I need a CCW permit?
it's a total 5! I always carry a karambit & my friends give me a lot of stuff abt it. they say it's just a self defense blade. actually I do a lot w it . but this one I could do EVERYTHING with. I will be saving up for this knife as I'd rather carry one that can do it all instead of 2 that I always have to find creative places to carry...lol. thank you so much for the info intensive vid. be safe, stay sharp & be Blessed HAPPY& BOUNTIFUL THANKSGIVING
Say Heah John, Sitting back before the Banks open up in England, I just lit a nice cigar and see if I could find a breakout, I trade the GBP/USD I don't know if you think the 4X is my size or I'm bragging heh heh heh, But it stands for Forex a market I trade. Usually I don't get into Tac't, But I do have a few. I do like my Meyerco CQB-1 it's a Bob Terzola design, I like carving with it because of its slender pointy tip and it's a good steel CM 154. This one you have can be used out of the box for the out of doors, a two fold design.
late to the video and knife i don't wear a belt, but found the Ulticlip 3 perfect for IWB, or outside behind hip with knife tucked into back pocket, great blade
Just snagged this knife. This confirmed my choice haha Should make for a great all around knife... ready to slice some apples or some bad guys. Overpaid, but it's worth it still
