For anyone who was wondering, those "foot undies" are dance shoes. They are worn in dance classes and they basically help the dancers grip the floor while still allowing them to do turns. (From a dancer)
Yes it is kind of like half soles but they don’t look as weird (personal opinion). Personally I prefer to turn barefoot so I can feel the floor better. Sometimes it goes horribly and I regret not having anything on, and sometimes it works in my favor and makes it all the more impressive. I do know a lot of dancers that prefer them though.
