I'm really going for a dark boho, kind of victorian vibe for our bedroom. I'd love to see something like that. Really dark, romantic, filled with moody florals and gold and brass
Sounds like my kinda thing, Dark and eclectic with more transitional feeling pieces than 'your average boho with cream macrame' but with lots of rich pieces in finishes like brass and velvet.
This is exactly my aesthetic! I’ve been calling in luxe boho industrial because I can’t put it into the right words but I love your description😍
Hey I'm also looking into transforming my living room into a dark boho style il also film and put the video up on my DIY channel Nia SYMPHONY once it's done...I'm really loving the boho looks
@@niareactsYT I'm seeing so many beautiful spaces like this on Pinterest right now. Dark (navy or emerald) wallpapers, rich rugs, book shelves, gold frames, velvet tufted furniture... seems like the perfect room for antique & thrift shopping, however it gives off a formal feel instead of the traditional casual boho. Good luck with your room!
I’m 60 and 40 years ago when we married we had no money so everything came from auctions or secondhand shops we bought various antique bamboo pieces for next to nothing I’ve added to it over years nice to know I’m still fashionable 😀😀
Of course, everything comes back. And now, with marketplace websites online you can reap the benefits of your investments and acquire new vintage/antique items
Most trends come back around eventually. Some decades come around more often than others. And some needs come up and make old trends more appealing (move into a small space = don't want visually heavy furniture = mid century modern couch is perfect) because we can look back and see "oh! They already did this, let's do it again!"
Boho is and always will be in the classic group of styles that are/will always remain current and always relevant.
i would love to see an episode about art deco!!! I feel like a lot of elements have come into style recently and personally I am obsessed with it! 💕
Yes! European Art déco! We just bought a 1930's art deco apartment in Brussels, and would loooove inspiration to decorate!
(also maybe in that same video, introduce the difference with Art Nouveau, so many people mess these two up!)
Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the things I love in a time when the world seems to swallow up my joy lately. ❤️
I spent my 20's in the late 1970's and Bohemian style was all the rage. I think you nailed it. More is more and the more eclectic the better. Plants, plants, plants! Wicker, wood and highly textured materials. Though I think of this style as funky Victorian, and dark/moody it seems the 21st century version is a lot airier, which is beautiful. Love your videos!
Boho and Mid Century Modern styles are my favorite! And I love when you mix and match them! 💕
Please do something 80’s inspired. I feel like that style is coming back and I’m living for it! I also suggest Art Deco and space age design. I feel like they all compliment each other very well.
Coastal / beach house vibe! That’s so rare to find!
I agree im starting to keep an eye out for this kind of stuff because of Christmas
Bohemian is such an interesting style. The "real bohemian" looks like where it came from: Roma caravans.
Think: you're nomadic, you have everything you need in a small space (think RV in modern times) and you have to balance "showing off your wealth" with "you can't afford to get everything custom made all at once so it matches". You got family heirlooms, things you acquired in your travels, things you replaced when they broke. And LOTS of blankets and pillows because you don't have the space to store extra cots and chairs for when you're stationary and want to sprawl out. And your culture is very bright and vibrant, which makes itself obvious in the textiles you wear.
It's easy to see the connection.
that star candle holder is a FIND 😍
I’m only 13 but you are literally my INSPIRATION I love your channel so much Macenna😍
Bohemian is my favorite! My whole house is filled with this style! Love this video! 💜
I would love to see a video on a Victorian/something along the lines of antique style
Bohemian is TOPS to me. Love the bright colors and energy and fullness of everything you want in your space. Thanks for this lovely video, Miss Macenna. (Love your name!)
Do traditional or coastal!! I’m having a heard time finding coastal ideas that aren’t nautical 😫
you should check out california coastal. Rebecca Robeson did an awesome cali coastal that wasn't super boaty lol
She actually did a California costal makeover about a year ago if you want some inspiration, and she recently featured a costal option in a fall decor video not too long ago.
Yes, please do Coastal, but cover all the options. Nautical Coastal, Florida Coastal and California Coastal.
Personally, I like a very chic, not cheesy, toned-down coastal.
If I ever buy home decor on a whim, 9 times out of 10 it's coastal but I'm afraid that my home will start to look nautical, so I try not to lean too hard on coastal stuff haha! It's so hard! I swear I fear the day that I look around my room and realize I'm surrounded by navy stripes, life preservers and starfish 😂
I would love tobsee a Transitional style! It isn't covered very often. Love your channel, and you inspired me to make some plant stands from some old ornate table legs/feet that I had purchased a few years ago at a salvage shop!
I am so thrilled to have found you Macenna!! I have ZERO decorating guru-ness in my entire body and NEED all the help I can get 😂.
I am doing the upstairs bedrooms. Exactly in the Boho chic style and didn’t know what to call it 🤦🏻♀️~ sooo , with you in my head now and THIS... maybe it’ll be a success. Any of your styles you decide to will be watched and appreciated!
in the 70's, bohemian style often included a beautiful wallpaper too... in a small area or extra large area. The wallpaper was normally floral and had shine to it...like metallic threads
This was seriously my favorite that you've ever done!! Such a beautiful style, I can not wait to incorporate it into my LIFE! Thank you for being you and sharing your talent!! God Bless!
I know this isn’t your style, but could you do retro aesthetic? I personally love that style😊 that’s the style I’m going for for my bedroom
I'm going for a old toy shop in my bedroom my husband doesn't have a say 😂😂
It is but it's costing a fortune but I love looking at all the old toys x
Your beautiful water color drawing lives in a beautiful metal frame in my bedroom now. Thank you for that, MaCenna! 😊
I would definitely love to see traditional. Really digging the look of ornate gold frames, beautiful textured books, rich color tones etc. Also, I find I like A LOT of styles mixed so maybe a video or decor dilemma episode on how to mix many different styles together cohesively?
I would love to know about modern farmhouse. Everyone I talk to has a different opinion so I would like to get a pros opinion. Thank you. I loved this video. I love all your videos.
I’m also interested in Modern farmhouse. I’m in the UK and we’ve just purchased an old newly renovated cottage.
Might be a little more different, but I would love to see Spanish Mediterranean style done sometime. :)
Isn't that more of a exterior/architecture? This channel is more about interior
Moody partisan/ vintage would be soooo cute. I’m redesigning my apartment and need more inspiration 😍
Yes!!! Parisian vintage in black and white/ grays with gold metallic details! Lots of mood and wrought iron scrollwork, intricate detailed moldings...
This is my style! So glad you referenced what I think of as the "real" bohemian (I was styling my first home in the 70's) Can't believe all the cool finds in your haul! I think I might attempt the wall hanging!
I like that she is teaching people that this is the true Boho style and that Boho has so many branches and micro trends. I am bored of others repeating that Boho is only that neutral, anemic palette and styling you see on Instagram.
This is my style and you did a great job explaining! We have a Bohemian, Eclectic, Artisan vibe because we are both artists. One of my favorite moments is this large live edge round table my partner made! Plants are also everywhere. I love the pictures you pulled and the format of this video is just SO WELL DONE MAKENNA!
I would love to see your take on cottagecore!!
I love this breakdown because it helps me understand what I’m looking and trying to replicate rather than just trying to buy all the things I see in a room
I love Mid century modern, Scandinavian and a touch of industrial, I also love vintage accessories such as vases, mirrors, book shelves, picture frames etc.
I didn’t know I was bohemian exactly but I am a more is more person. I like all the things but it’s grounded with mid century modern furniture. Wicker, wood, walnut, antigue pieces of my moms. Art pieces I’ve collected, thrift finds, macrame, lots of plants. Lots of color, yellow, coral teal, robins egg blue, wood, I don’t know if it works but I love all my things, so that’s my style.
That‘s how people should all live, though Interior Designs would find it harder to get a job. But to surround yourself with what makes you happy, regardless of trends... you go girl.... 😊.
Would love to see Coastal California style!
The Clay Wall Decoration looks great.
As a lover and doer of Afrocentric-chic boho, thank you for this!! So spot on! 🤍
Would love to see eclectic/vintage. Also a dark academia vibe would be amazing!!!
I want an episode of Scandifornian style 😬 I am currently doing a makeover in my house and im in love with this style, but I have so many doubts 🙈
@@I8AFluffyBunny yeah i know! But Scandifornian is pretty different!
@@candelanaredocosta8370 I really would stick to Scandinavian on this one...
Please bring this series back ! I love it ❤️
I would LOVE to see Art Deco/ modern Parisian styles!!!!
I've been waiting all day for this video! Sundays are my favorite day!
Would love to see Romantic style of design! I'm obsessed with everything you've done, but when showing my bf ideas for our place I've noticed he keeps picking stuff from romantic designs and I don't know much on where to start with that! Lol love your channel!! 💖
I just love the southwestern boho look. It gives me so much energy.
Thank you and have a blessed day
Hey MaCenna! Loved this video on boho/eclectic decor. Thrifting is my superpower and I have decorated almost my entire home with thrifted and hand-me-down vintage family pieces. You made me want to go thrifting asap to add to my growing collection of artfully decorated clutter. lol My daughter and I totally made a wall decor piece like you last one. We used salt dough (thrifty thrifty) and found that straws worked really well as hole punches in case you wanted to forgo the expensive clay. She wanted stars and we just used jute twine to tie them at alternating lengths on a nice-sized stick we found in the park. Thanks for brightening up my Sunday's and inspiring me to keep crafting!
I would love the hear more about eclectic and what an eclectic style/home looks like.
The beauty of eclectic is just finding the right balance and having a good eye. Taking items that you find attractive and love and mixing them in your space in a way that works for you. I love all home decor but its definitely overwhelming sometimes to try and make it all come together. My advice is to buy the things you absolutely will regret not buying and then work them into your space. As long as you love it and its functional for you that's really all that matters. Bonus if others see it all together and find it pretty too. Plus like she said in her last video find a common ground to make it cohesive.
Basically eclectic is Boho as well. Eclectic just means mix of many styles and can be applied to almost any style.
Omg MaCenna!!! I have been waiting for this today- heard your ig last night, know you’re a perfectionist (don’t worry about the 10am) but I literally have my notifications on and I was sooooo waiting for this! Woman, you are good at your gift! Keep shining and teaching us the ways. Side note: more apartment bedroom/house ideas is super needed. How to maximize on wall space and small areas. Please and thank you!! Kk, XO
Yes small places like mine I need help with designing small spaces. Love your chanel.
It's so nice to see Bohemian Style identified beyond the Apartment Therapy California Mid-Mod look.
Yeah Boho is so much more. That is only a fraction of the many sides of boho.
Watching this again today because I just love your style so much ! You really do stand out from all the other UA-camrs decor. I feel like yours is more original and you inspire me !
I did not know what my favorite interior Style was, and now I definitely found it! ❤️
I literally get so excited and happy every time you upload🥰
I'm absolutely in LOVE with that star candle holder! 😍😍😍😍
Just like to say how much I (and i'm sure everyone else would agree) appreciate the originality behind your work.
The wall hanging for example, It would be so easy to become influenced by what other UA-camrs that have similar channels are doing and regurgitate, in the same way other's sometimes do.
Doing your own research and finding something you like from one of your books and putting your own, totally fresh spin on it. Inspired and original as always.
Dark Academia, like other people have mentioned! Think netflix's show: the chilling adventures of sabrina
I thought I was neutral to bohemian style, but turns out its actually my favourite?? Great video, thanks for helping me figure out what bohemian actually is MaCenna! :)
That water color is beautiful! I'm all about having at work that is yours... Even if that means you find art you love at the store. But even better is things you and your family make.
Very pretty decor. Nice job. Lovely water coloring, too .. Can you do a beach cottage decor for your next vid...and an English cottage? They'd be great to see. Ty for sharing. Be well.
Wow! It’s pretty awesome that in the photo on the right of the thumbnail most of that is all thrifted!😊 you inspire me so much to go thrifting even if I don’t have the space!🤣🤣
You should do traditional style next!
I’m going to be a minority but I’d like to see a modern 1920’s Art Deco. Maybe mixed with a little mid century as it has similar shapes in that style.
That sounds beautiful to me. My house was built in 1920, and I would love to get a visual picture in my mind of how it may have originally looked. And then attempt to bring some of those elements back if possible.
I'm super interested in seeing eclectic in particular just because I'm a little confused on what this style actually is and would love to see a very thorough video on it. Then afterwards, I would love to see dark academia :-)
Eclectic means a mix of different styles of decor and/or furniture. Any style can be made eclectic.
First UA-cam decor video that doesn't bore the shit out of me! 👏
Please do ecclectic style next!
(Edit: Although this style does remind me of the ecclectic style)
I don't know if you have ever tried this before... so I would love to see an Indian inspired fusion style. I think you will love it too!
I'd love to see a rustic sort of French cottagecore style :)
The water color you painted looks great.
*me sees notification, clicks immediately* Early squad were you at?
There used to be a style called eclectic, do they still do that or call it something different now. I’d love to see how to do that.
Eclectic is not really a style, but a part of many other styles and one descriptor of such styles, like Boho. Eclectic just means a mix of different styles. You can be Boho eclectic, Traditional eclectic, Country eclectic and so on.
MaCenna, I would love to see your suggestions for a Shabby Chic style! Love your videos!
60’s/70’s style would be cool!
I just wanted to clarify something, what you refer to as Moroccan is actually north African. I see a lot of pattern of the North African traditional carpet included in the modern rugs that you use in your decor ( not just you macenna but a lot of other home decor UA-camrs ) and they never mention that it's actually from the " Amazigh culture of north Africa ", its most certainly not Arab or Persian. I truly hope you would mention this in one of your upcoming videos. but overall I am a huge fan and I love all your work. much love from Algeria
@@Ldawg42069 Yes but Ibtissam Benkhrif is just asking people to be accurate when referring to the origins of a pattern or style. He has pointed out that people often label a pattern "Moroccan" when that pattern is actually from e.g. Algeria, not Morocco, or the pattern might represent the culture of many countries in North Africa, not just Morocco. He also points out that carpets with a pattern from North Africa are sometimes wrongly described as "Arab" or "Persian". It does no harm to do some research to ensure accuracy and that credit is given where it is due.
@@theodorafaux
I thought they were saying that Morocco isn’t Arab or Persian lmao my b. i’m not attacking anyone
@@Ldawg42069 My husband is Moroccan. He said the traditional Amazigh patterns are not Arab as most people mistake them to be. Just to clarify.
@@amarisbelghiti94
omg thank you so much! no one has told me that yet!!!! that you!!!!!!!! 😃😃😃😃
If your dreams don't scare you, they are too small.
From: 🌺 Determined to Rise
Thrilled (not exaggerating) to have a Not Farmhouse style diy video.
It was charming and had a nice place in decor when Fixer Upper was very new. A word I read the other day was Japandi (Scandi + Japanese); it's, also, lovely, as is this one.
I’m definitely bohemian with a mix of mid century modern. My husband and I love to travel around the world and bring goods that are unique. Super colorful and beautiful! Currently working on my accent wall and need to make a painting but it should be done soon.
Omg I love the star candle holder and moon lamp!
What I love about the bohemian style is that it allows you to incorporate more sentimental items. You can still have souvenirs and hand-me-downs, without having to hide those things away. I love how eclectic and colorful it is.
Classic would be nice change.
The magazine rack was an incredible find. The clay art turned out really fun.
I absolutely love your channel! Your style is amazing. Like you seriously should think about being an interior designer on a tv show or something. Amazing and I absolutely love you!
Scandinavian with a splash of nautical. Thanks looking forward to see what you come up with!
I’d love a Boho Mid-Century Modern DIY 😍 for home teleworking (office, chair, bookshelves)
I love this series, especially how you analyze the styles and inspiration pictures and then "deduct" decoration/ shopping tips and DIY ideas. I would love to see more of this kind of analyses or deductions - maybe of brand styles, or "professional" interior projects, or maybe just pictures of inspiring rooms. That would be amazing :D
Next to be Cottage Core please🥺❤️
Love your videos so much!!
Random info - I'll be moving to a new place next month, and I'm planning to add cottage core aesthetic to my room
❤️🎠🧚🏻♀️
So excited! 🙈🦋
Yes please, do modern farmhouse next. Thank you. I watched all of your videos, both in your main channel and vlogs yeeey ☺
Bohemian Chic allll the way!😍😍
I’d love to see a modern minimalist/contemporary and a vintage Victorian
I would throw a couple of silk scarves especially with tassels over those tall lampshades ...looks fabulous and gives colourful light as well I love doing it ..easy to swap out
Definitely still waiting for a modern farmhouse vid, but also would love to see a traditional style one!
Rustic! My current style is a cozy, neutral combo of MCM, boho, and rustic, so you have covered a lot of it already, but I would love to see some rustic/woodsy decor DIYs 🤎 I absolutely love and am so inspired by all of your videos, so I appreciate all you do SO MUCH!
The clay hanging would be nice as a family tree xx
I think my style must be predominantly bohemian because everything in this video really speaks to me. You find the best things when you go thrifting. I will need to travel a bit for better thrift shopping.
I would like to see next Kinkfolk or Tropical style! 🥰
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOHEMIAN GLAM WITH A LOT OF SATINS AND VELVET
I'd love to see Dark Academia and/or Cluttercore please :D
Your laughter is infectious and joyous! :)
Absolutely loved this, thank you so much for sharing! I am obsessed with minimal boho decor and live in a jungle of plants 😂🌿
Bohemian for ever
This is my ideal home decor style !!!! I currently have jewel tones curtains, a mauve accent wall, a crazy patterned Turkish rug, lots and lots of gold accents, baskets, and plants
I'd like to see the "bohemian chic" version of this video ! Thank's a lot for your amazing work !
I'm an afroboho style babe, all the way! I love black, white, silver, and jewel tones! I need lots of color. ❤
I would LOVE to see coastal next 💛✨
I love how much you credit the cultures you're pulling from and the sources for the images you use. Fantastic.
I love your channel, and the fact I can watch it with my twin seven year old girls without worrying about inappropriate material. They love all your diy stuff and say you’re super talented (and I agree ❤️). I’ve gotten so many great tips from you!
Would love to see eclectic, dark academia, Hollywood vintage, 70s/80s!!
Gosh, would LOVE to see dark academia!
YES you are right on the mark! Dark academia! my friends don't get me, think Professor Brown of back to the future, or Merlin house. lots of books.
@@MoonlightSecret1 My style is all over the place and I find it difficult to make it go together and look nice. So it would be nice to see how to incorporate them together
Yeeeeeees 😍😍😍
Yes yes absolutely!!!! Dark Academia would be amazing!!!
