How are the pallets attached to the foundation?
Answer: Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor, and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete.

It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.
Hey, it is up to you to know and decide how to do it, I made a stone parquet on top of the gravel area and poured concrete around it.
And it has held up very well in three years ;)
Thank you!
Amazing! Now I have to explain to my wife why I'm collecting pallets. Great video
Thanks, I'm sure you'll find a good explanation, thanks again!
Yeah, but you better start building 🤣
I put thick plastic bags in between and braced them between Trees. Made several Deer blinds that are insulated with dirt and leaves covered with vines and shrubs. Never complained about how cold it was until I had to go outside!
Been there
Hahaha!
Here I'm the one who is always having to explain the "why"! 😅😅😅
Very informative. We have a lot of pallets in Houston that gets thrown away. I could easily build a barn out of these pallets. Thank you for the video. You are a genius Sir. Keep up the great work. God Bless.
Thank you very much, nice to like you. all the best to you. Please watch other videos of this build too, Thanks again!
Very nice build. I'm planning on building a tractor shed the same way once I can scrounge up enough pallets of the same size. I like how you used full length studs between the pallets for rigidity and using headers to tie them together at the top. Watching videos like this only gives me more ideas for when I build mine, thanks. :)
.
Thank you very much! Glad you like my construction and ideas.
I’ve seen a lot of crappy pallet builds before as a carpenter but this one isn’t like that at all. I like the studs thrown between the pallets for vertical rigidity and the header plate to tie it all together. Great job 👍
Thank you, thank you very much, I am grateful that you appreciate my work skill. Thank you again.
@@normalguydoesitall how big are these studs between the pallets? I was difficult to determine how you fastened them to the pallets and the floor beams. I would like to do this someday. do you have any plans you followed of can you give some basic instructions? Thanks.
@@deniseignatowski5302 you mean beams? 2"x 4". I fastened them with long screws diagonally to the pallet blocks, corner and center blocks. No plans sorry, I followed my instinct and built as I could on an ongoing basis. Sorry the camera was so far away, didn't think the video would be so popular, I filmed it for myself so it would be good to watch the building rise. Hope there was help, if there are any questions then ask, i will try to answer. Thank you!
@@normalguydoesitall I am planning to build a 2 story one as a vacation cabin will this same method work for that?
@@normalguydoesitall how did you get the bottom beam secured to the concrete floor?
It’s so good to have somebody who’s competent to help you do things.
Hey, yes it is. Most of the time my brother helps me, but my dear wife is also very helpful. Thank you!
Amazing how relatively quickly you can build using pallets & once they are all tied together how strong the walls are. Definitely a way of moving forward, I guess it's just a matter of how difficult it is to accumulate pallets of the same size. Excellent floor you laid as well. Thanks, Don from South Aust.
Thank you! the walls are really strong and yes I have good pallets. gratings from Estonia.
Very ingenious and a decent strength building too. Thanks for this.
Thank you! I'm thankful ;) be sure to watch other videos of this build as well. Thank you!

I am very impressed!! I used to find donated pallets lots of places and have made small things with them (sidewalks, small bins for holding fence posts and stones, stall panels for sheep). I could never see the point of perfectly good wood going to waste. There is now a place about 30 miles from us that seems to have moved in on my resources. They put the pallets through wood chippers to make the bags of coloured wood people use to place around their yard structures. Trees, flower beds etc. Still an excellent recycling of pallets but sad for me. Having said that, I would love to have the ability to make such a wonderful barn. You have my complete admiration and kudos on your recycling and on your accomplishment!!
Thank you very much!
You made a sidewalk out of pallets?
My local building inspector may not be impressed but I really like what have done here. Thanks.
Probably, but thank you anyway!
THE VIDEO WAS GREAT! SCREW THE HATERS! THEY ARE JEALOUS THEY CANT BUILD A BARN THAT LOOKS THIS GOOD.. NOT EVEN OUT OF BRAND NEW WOOD!! 🤣
A FANTASTIC JOB YOU HAVE DONE!
CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT JOB!
Thank you!
I liked the fast build...The Music..The tree tops..The clouds passing by..and you all having fun in the build.
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Hell yes, it looks good, way to go.
Thank you, I hope you have looked at all three parts.

I am doing the same thing now. With heavy pallets. I thought I was the only one that saw such enormous usefulness in the pallets "as-is". Awesome.
Hey. thanks! I got the idea from the man whom I got these pallets, he built a similar shed for himself. The Pallets are very good building material, I just got a new load of 70 pallets. i have also a video about it. All the best to you!
I built a barn back in 2011 that was 32ft long x 45ft wide and when I moved back to TN in 2016 I built a chicken coop both with pallets and as soon as I get more I'm going to add on to the coop so I can get goats again
Estonia ingenuity ! Way to go ! 👍🏼🇺🇸👍🏼
Thank you!
And just to think many would burn those pallets. Great to see them go to use. Great job👍

How many pallets
Muito legal está casa muito chique e fácil de fazer parabéns
muito obrigado. bom que você gostou
dificil ta e de achr pallets kkkkkkkk
Super project. Stylish and awesome. Appreciate your skill to adjust the pallets which are mostly not so perfect for easy assembling the rectangular construction. I wonder how you had made such a correct planning of the concrete belt to fit the future pallet perimeter, keeping in mind the size differences. Even small. Great vision and proper hands!!! Nothing but the great respect! Do not ming the bloody stupid useless haters!
During pandemia the wood went up 4 times even in Russia. And the project that size would cost a fortune. Rough indication at 15 KEuro (based on you latest video). So your idea encourages me a lot for the same doing. For my garage and sauna buildings.
All the best for Estonia. Had a good friend Kaido from Tallinn in Soviet Army times...
Hey, thank you for your comment i really enjoy such comments from all over the world. The pallets that I use are good and I get them through a friend and I have already laid the foundation according to their dimensions. I don't notice the haters, i have thick skin ;) In Estonia, too, the prices of wood and other construction materials have increased several times. It's nice to hear that you have a friend in Tallinn, it's like the saying "the world is small" Please watch my other videos too, there are more videos from this barn build, this barn is almost ready and the animals are already using it. Thank you again and I wish you all the best, greetings from Estonia ;)

@@normalguydoesitall 👍👍👍
Soooo awesome. I love this. Thank you. I have the opportunity to get my hands on some used, only used once or just made pallets and they’re heat treated. Are those ok to use after being heat treated? I thought it was better that they are rather then not? I’ve always wondered how strong they are if I were to build something like this? Hopefully it’s going well and serves its purpose. Turned out exactly how I imagined it should be “in my mind lol when thinking of gathering pallets and building something”. I think that everything turned out great. I just found your channel and absolutely had to subscribe. I can’t wait to start watching all of the videos you’ve made. I’ll have to get caught up. Maybe binge watch videos till I’m caught up lol. Thank you again for the inspiration!
Hey, Thank you for your very kind words! Heat treated pallets are good. The most important thing is that the pallets are made of strong material and that they are all the same size ;) I get my pallets from a motor oil reseller, all pallets are strong and all are the same sizes. Certainly watch my channel's other videos as well, there you will find a variety of construction, build and other videos, the channel is as the name says "Normal guy does it all" Thank you again!
I watched it all from beginning to end, and it is awesome job. I'm going to see if I'm allowed to do it in my property and if so I'm doing it. Thanks for the videos and ideal.
Thank you for everything, I hope your plans succeed.
Brilliant 👍👍😍😍

Love the build. The music...GACK....about killed me. hahaha Such a good reuse of pallets. I want to do this now. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, the music does not change :))) I am also satisfied with the build myself, the material is also good, such pallets are difficult to find, strong and all in one size.
Thank you so much showing your barn project *Genious; like to try for

starting mine this week got about 200 pallets hoping for a 25x30 ish
Nice, good luck to you😉
Glad you put some upright through studs between some of the stacked pallets. They should have been between every pair of pallets and doubled at the corners. Also I wouldn’t have used those weak slat and block style pallets instead of the stronger slat on stringer type
Thank you! yes the upright beams are necessary to make the walls stronger. You may have misunderstood, but these are not weak pallets, these are the strongest pallets ever available here. The blocks are made of wood and not sawdust, and the boarding is made of strong thick boards. These pallets are designed to transport four 200L oil barrels ;) Thank you, see the following videos as well.
That load is on the top slats which is how the forks lift it. On end they aren’t load bearing. I would have
doubled your top plate to lap the corners and long laps for the intermediate butt joints to strengthen the ‘beam’ between uprights. you know like a regular stud wall.
Smart, low cost build.
Thank you! yes it is.
Got me thinking
OK, that's good, about what?
Thanks for leaving the camera blow over in the edit. LOL Perfect
Thank you! of course, things have to be shown as they are ;)
It's so funny to see people guess at ridge height/roof pitch dimensions and just mark it with a pencil. It works, don't get me wrong, but it's so much easier to just work out some math with a napkin and a piece of charcoal. Great build though...the sturdiest I've ever seen with pallets.
Hey, yes i know, i am smarter now. When I made this video, I couldn't expect such popularity :) But if you liked it, please also see the videos 2, 3, 4 of this build and interior build parts 1 and 2 Thank you for watching!
Hi there. This is incredible!!
Can I ask, did you fix the pallets to the ground at all or are they just standing on the raised concrete piece?
Amazing work - subscribed - looking forward to watching your other films. Hi from Ireland. Say hello to my Irish friend Ian Pettersson :)
Thank you! I will try to answer you. this higher part is not concrete but impregnated wooden beam which is anchored to the concrete, and the pallets are screwed to this beam. so yes the pallets are fixed to the concrete. Thank you again and be sure to check out my other videos as well. And greetings to Ireland my friends ;)
Ah yes - understood. Looks like a concrete lintel from the camera's perspective.
Another question then - when you say impregnated wood, I wonder is that the same as 'treated wood' as we would say here, or is that another level of treatment?
Maybe it's a different term for the same thing..
No problem if you can't answer that.
Many thanks for the reply!!
Nice
Thank you!
Гениально!!!

Thanks! impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete, And the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete.
Very nice.
My only concern would be having the door openings in the corners of the building. Standard practice is to have "sheer walls" to prevent racking and failure. I have seen build fail in that way.
Thank you! no need to worry the building is strong and decent. the building has also survived some storms and is still standing ;) Thanks!
What are sheer walls and its purpose?
@@chinabrown2933 a narrow section of wall that helps reinforce the corner to prevent the building from racking.
A very nice build. B-Strong, B n Christ.

Прикольно. Из чего только не строят люди. Думаю этот дом не хуже каркасных

Hey, if properly insulated it would make a great house ;)
I just love this barn idea. I thought of this idea before but wasn't sure if it would be doable for structured reasons. But your build has changed my mind. I did have a question on the green paint on the bottom of your 2x4s is it a protective barrier of some kind?
Thank you! of course this idea works I have had this barn for over three years and everything is still in good condition.
This green liquid is a wood preservative, it protects the wood from moisture and rotting.

thanks!

What’s the exact size of these pallets? They look to be the same as the pallets I can get from my job and I’m about to attempt building a shed
Pallet size is 1.2m X1.2m and they are 15 cm thick.
What a great idea! Could you be able to wrap and insulated the outside to keep it warmer? Roughly how much did it cost you in materiel? Thank you for your time in posting this video
Hey. Thank you! Of course, it can also be insulated and even a house can be built like this. Go see my channel has more videos of this build, roof, board and doors. So far total cost for me after all the build is about 600 eur, a lot of material is obtained for free. Thank you again!
What type of materials are used for the floor

Super
Thank you!
That was nice. Can i ask how many pallets and what size the building is?? Looks pretty sturdy too.
Hi, it is sturdy. Pallets are 1.2m x 1.2m. building is 7.2m x 5.2m. total off pallets 32pc.
@RealestRealist about so yes, but I got them for free ;)
@@normalguydoesitall i am doing one of these in my garden so its good to learn from others.what are the measurments for the roof peices ?ive got cement for free and the pallets for free and im up to 27 so far but havent built it yet.why are you putting planks inbetween them ?
@@bigs31uk Hey, Thanks. roof pieces are 2,5m X 1,25m. My construction was needed 32 pallets. Planks are needed to gain more strength to the building.
Hi what are those metal plates called that you use to attached onto the woods? Thanks! Love the videos!
Hey, Thank you! don't know exactly, here we have such assertions quite common to fasten the wood together. some angles of wood fastening, or something like that. Sorry for the poor answer :)
Vertical posts had to be installed in the corners as well. The angle of the structure is the main element of rigidity.
Amazing... Can you explain how tou have builded the base ?
Hey, I made the base surface, laid the paving stone and poured a concrete belt around it
Nice build. Can you tell me how you joined the pallets? Have you used nails or screws, what size, how many per pallet?
Thank you. I used screws to connect pallets together. The amount of screws on one pallet could be about 15 pcs, and the length of the screws was about 120cm (about 5 inches)
I’m thinking about building a pallet out of a coffee table. 🤓🤓
I'm sure you can handle it. ;)
Pinterest has some great ideas for that.
Did you guys anchor to the floor. This is awesome
Hey, yes impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor, and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. Thank you!
Code enforcement would love this lol
Hey, what do you mean by that? the building has a building permit and is also on the building register. Pleas see other episodes where the barn will be completed ;) thank you!
Снежные нагрузки, расчёт не делался. Приготовьте столбы подпорки для середины, пусть зимой стоят, погода последнее время шалит.
