Goosebumps experience!... Chord progression, improvisation, patch design, reverb choice... everything is superb, on its own! You transported me to another galaxy. Thanks for the fantastic joy ride!
WulfCry almost like the beginning of horror movie or thriller with a camera following a long windy lake road to a remote vacation home or cabin on the edge of a lake! Where a mysterious entity resides in the cabin, or a serial killer is lurking in the woods and ends up entering the home! Also could be a great start to a thriller that has a long haul trucker who is deranged trying to run people off a rural highway it be kinda like the movie joyride!
Google "monarch butterfly'' and you might have a better understanding of where the patch name came from and why it should sound ominous and intimidating.
A bit of reverb, delay or chorus (or all three) really does allow a synth to take on another dimension sonically. They suddenly sound a bit sweeter or more 3D with the right treatment.
I love the wet versions of those beautiful OB-Xa patches for sure. The rich sound is awesome and I would love to have this synth. However, I do have the OB-Xd software synth but I may look into an OB-Xa version as well.
Its amazing the reverbs available these days....Polara, MXR M300, Nuenaber Immerse, Boss RV-6, and several others, all studio quality for $200 and less.
Now, I remember why I pine for an Oberheim of some kind (doesn't really matter which one), even though they're smartly emulated in my digital synthesizer collection. I'm sure the best virtual analog can't beat a rackmount Matrix.
thanks for posting this vid! The strenght of an OB-Xa is generating lush pads and you displayed some good examples. I don't know exactly why synth nerds need to hear all these sounds without EFX: vintage synths were never be meant to be played without (see various examples from Klaus Schulze to Chick Corea, Japan to George Duke, and of course Master Zawinul !). Btw: my OB-Xa needs a mere 10-20 minutes to be stable in terms of tuning....I suggest retuning before recording :-)
Hello, I've noticed some auto panning here: 1:37. But, apparently is some setting from the synth, not the pedal, because it happens even before you press the pedal button. How do you get that stereo effect? Thanks in advance for your answer.
I’m just curious as to what modification was done to the OBXa. I see a few extra screws and it perhaps a button on the right side of the control panel above the Oberheim logo. Ethereal sounds ... thanks in advance.
The previous owner had mounted a small gooseneck lamp there (I assume to see the patch buttons on dark stages). I removed it and put a grommet to cover the hole where it was mounted.
I've got the Polara and the OBXA. If only the Obie was working, anyone have any idea what it might cost to do a full refurbish even worse case scenario? I'm dying to finally play and hear it, I bought it already needing repairs.
the polara is one of my favorite reverbs along with the eventide I'm trying to find out what kind of reverb this man here has used ua-cam.com/video/bKsxnBOl_S0/v-deo.html
Amazing what a bit of reverb does. There's endless fun to be had with a synth, a delay and a reverb.
Besides the demo, beautiful sounds and themes. A synth like Obx-a can be a lifetime joy.
Amazing what a bit of reverb does aaand amazing what an OB-Xa in a skilled set of hands does. P.S. Thank you so much for not playing "Jump".
Goosebumps experience!...

Wow, thanks!
Nice demo. That's why I like DAWs so much, it is so easy to add effects, to take a simple sound and make it really atmospheric or out of this world .
Thank you
Great to see the polara being used to such great effect. I have one and i love it
The dry signal is INCREDIBLE, then add a touch of Polara and voila
That Monarch Butterfly sounds so ominous and intimidating.

WulfCry It's like a beautiful omninous sound. It sounds amazing!
MisAnnThorpe mk ultra
It sounds so twin peak-ish
Lexicon is the secret sauce that makes me cry and smile - Happy weekend brother!
I suddenly have a need for a reverb pedal
Your videos are perfect... everything is perfect.
absolutely beautiful

8:08 Those filter sweeps ... 🤩
This synth is what home studio musicians call "unobtainium" class of synth.
Where can I listen to music like this? Never found anything that made me feel so weightless in my whole life. Literally sounds like a dream.
bladerunner soundtrack.
Brian Eno - Ambient 1/Music for airports
have you thought about a diet too ?
Oberheim.The best pad sounds
There are thousands of amazing vintage synths but....there’s only one Pablo from SynthMania!!! Amazing!
*Paolo

Sounds so sweet.
It blows my mind how many bad ass synths you have. This sounds amazing even without the reverb
love it OB XA forever
Soooo beautiful!
Also got the polara. Great sounding reverb. Great value for the money!
Polara is truly heavenly.
Its amazing the reverbs available these days....Polara, MXR M300, Nuenaber Immerse, Boss RV-6, and several others, all studio quality for $200 and less.
We do live in great times for technology!
tc's "hall of fame 2" is another cheap wonder
Great pads! You've made me want one!
Behringer is working on cloning one so you're in luck
lovely lush sounds :)
Very nice sounding OBXa :-)
This is bumping the UB-Xa up my wish list.
Beautiful

so they know what they're buying.
You may be surprised to hear that Japan used their OBX dry for the most part on Tin Drum, according to none other than Richard Barbieri.
thanks for the interesting insight! The percussive sounds on tin drum are for the most part dry, that's right

Yes, you can pan individual voices on the OB series
'Constellation' with the reverb reminds me of the video game 'Fez'.
Amazing!
Classic sounding patches! :-D
Excellent.
Thank you! Cheers!
Just loved it!
This is superb!

Thanks for your videos. So damn inspiring.
Hope you don't mind me having totally ripped off that Monarch Butterfly patch. It's incredible
thank you for this
Great Video!!
😍😍😍
very tasteful, to make an OBXa sound both tiny and solemn takes some playing en editing skills
Wow! It's great, and suprisingly cheap!
In the beginning of the video is this theme a song from somewhere?
It's just my improvisation.
What is the 'Constellation' tune? It's lovely!
My improvisation
@@SynthManiaDotCom Nice work! I'm going to learn that one.
Dreamy... me likey
Hello, beautiful demo. Can I ask you what preset did you use of the Digitech Polara? Halo?
Thank you, IIRC I circled through modulated, halo, and hall
There is so much pitch drift in this synth. Is that because its old or did you detune it or add some lfo mod?
what a boss reberb
Actually, it's a Digitech, not a Boss. Ba-dump, crash....
I meant boss like BAWSE lol!!
I know, that's why I added the drum fill at the end :-) ua-cam.com/video/bcYppAs6ZdI/v-deo.html
The OBXa is marvelous unto itself, but with that Dogitech -
Of course, most of it has to do with Mr. Paolo, does it not?
Impressive sound, wow! OB-Xa sound heavenly!
SynthMania, I can't afford OB-Xa (except to sell my car :)), is there some good VST emulation of it?
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
You also have OBXD and its free google it. Op X its pretty dope though.
It is really good for a free plugin. :)
OP-X PRO-II is great, you can DL free demo to try
or wait for behringer to release their clone. They are on their way!
Anyone know how many presets has this synthesizer
I have an OB-Xa, but mine doesn't have those 3 bumps under the Write Record button. What are those for?
I've got the Polara and the OBXA. If only the Obie was working, anyone have any idea what it might cost to do a full refurbish even worse case scenario? I'm dying to finally play and hear it, I bought it already needing repairs.
foggydrifty I think Behringer has answered your request. I bet the new OB-X will be half the cost of repairing the old one.
Just a spoon full of reverb helps the analog go down
Ever tried a Strymon Big Sky?
Yup
the polara is one of my favorite reverbs along with the eventide
I'm trying to find out what kind of reverb this man here has used
ua-cam.com/video/bKsxnBOl_S0/v-deo.html
Secondo me il tuo OB-Xa aveva bisogno di calibrazione... c'è una voce che è molto più brillante delle altre. Bellissimo video comunque.
These are presets?
No, manual mode.
Beautiful
