- In a troubling trend for Bihar, a portion of a bridge over Gandaki river in Siwan district collapsed on Wednesday morning, marking the ninth such incident in the state within the past 12 days. The small bridge, situated in the district's Deoria block, connects several villages with Mahrajganj. No casualties have been reported so far. This is the second incident of bridge collapse in Siwan in the last 11 days.

Stupid you. Bridges collapsing one by one means it's not a central govt problem. State govt must investigate. This is not a common thing. So there must be some group of people behind it!! OR If this is a quality issue, it has again nothing to do with central. It is the contractor, state govt and what does FUND have to do with construction. If anything happens blaming on Modi or Rahul who have nothing to do with individual state issue or leadership is pathetic!

Oh pls 9 bridges all fall due to soil erosion. How come such things doesnt happen in otther states which recieve high rainfall. Removing of mud happens in all states during monsoon. Bihar is the most corrupt and least develped state and still people make excuses.

Day by day, things are made in use and throw technology. In our place, the new bridge constructed 5 years back bent its back and not in use, but the old bridge built,70 years back helping in need and strong as a rock.

The reporter has correctly said about the dredging. Most of the cases sunken of a single pier or Abument led to sliding down of the deck slab.This may be because of poor designing in working out the linear water way rainfall,scour depth,foundation design,maintenance etc. Without proper investigation one can't come to conclusion.

An MP has to devise various means ti appropriate Local Area Development Fund for himself. In Kerala, the generally accepted method is to construct trivial structures at exhorbitant costs.. like a bus shelter (just a small roof on 2 supports) for rs 20 lakhs. Laughable.. but thats what it is. In Bihar, I presume they build bridges where one bill itself can be crores. More clever. 😎
