Why this album?
Life is a battle. From the first cry for breath in the human body to the tumultuous storms raging in our minds, existence is a relentless journey. Spirituality, misconstrued as a passive retreat into silence, is, in truth, an active and dynamic pursuit of something greater. It is the resolve to unveil our highest selves, and overcome obstacles with grace and resilience. This is the essence of "Warriors of Light," an album born from the crucible of struggle and illuminated by the celestial sound of ancient mantras.
For many, the battles we face are evident. For others, they are hidden, gnawing away at our spirit from within. My personal struggle has always been with my voice. From childhood, I have wrestled with a speech impediment, a relentless adversary that for years, silenced me and kept me locked in a cage of quietude. The world became a battlefield where words failed me, and silence was both my prison and my tormentor.
In my darkest moments, when words abandoned me, I discovered the transformative power of ancient sounds. The resonance of Sanskrit and Tamil mantras became my allies, their vibrations a bridge to a deeper truth and state of being. These were not just words but potent sounds imbued with the wisdom and strength of millennia. They became my warriors, each chant a beacon of light piercing through the darkness. The silence finally began to release me.
"Warriors of Light" is a testament to this journey. Each track is a celebration of divine energies and manifestations that embody the warrior spirit. The album opens with "Asato Ma Sadgamaya," a plea to be led from untruth to truth, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality, encapsulating the essence of our journey.
Next, "Liberate (Maha Mritjunjaya)" extends a call for liberation, its powerful mantra reverberating through the soul. "Kali" follows, embodying the fierce goddess who dances through the darkness, her power a reminder of the strength within us all.
"Release Your Fears (Jaya Jaya Durga Ma)" offers a mantra of courage and protection, urging us to confront and release our fears. "Aganitha Thaara (The Dance of Countless Stars)" takes us on a cosmic journey of realizing the infinite beauty and mystery of the universe.
The "Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra (The Warrior’s Version)" serves as a brief yet potent prayer to surrender, preparing us for the spoken word piece, "Warriors of Light." Here, the journey is articulated in a reminder to embrace our struggles with grace and resilience.
"Raghupati Raghava" follows, an Indian anthem for peace and unity, leading us into "Hanuman Chalisa," a powerful chant invoking the boundless strength and devotion of Hanuman. The album culminates with "Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu," a heartfelt prayer for universal peace and happiness.
Using a blend of Sanskrit, Tamil, and English, I sought to create a sonic tapestry that resonates with the power and beauty of these Vedic and Dravidian sounds. Each language adds its own unique vibration, creating a rich, immersive experience that transcends time and space.
"Warriors of Light" is more than music; it is a call to action, an invitation to embrace our struggles and keep leading with the Soul’s dharma. It is a reminder that we are not alone in our battles. We have a team of divine manifestations that guide and empower us, leading us to the light.
In sharing this album, I offer a piece of my heart, a chronicle of my own battles and triumphs. I invite you to listen, to let the ancient sounds wash over you, to find strength in their resonance.
