The 3M™ Tegaderm™ CHG Chlorhexidine Gluconate Gel Pad (1664) is not a waterproof dressing. The Center for Disease Control CLABSI Guidelines and the Infusion Therapy Standards recommend the application of an additional impermeable dressing to protect the vascular access device and connectors from water exposure during showering, bathing or other related water exposure activities. Also, the 1664 is indicated for use to cover and protect intravascular catheters and percutaneous medical device sites. Warning: The 1664 should be used by healthcare providers and applied over healthy, intact skin, not large wounds or burns.
