If you don't have a friend like Dr. Bobby, be the Dr. Bobby to one of your friends.
100%, help your buddies out and teach each other so all can enjoy. 👍🏻
Dude, the look on your face at 40:12 was priceless. What an amazing journey. We have all had it at some point…the moment where all the fruit of your work, doing something you have never done before, grappling with all the periodic self doubt culminating in success. The commitment and work was all worth it. Congratulations! Kudos to Bobby also. What an amazing guy, all need a friend like him.
Thank you. I'm very grateful to be in a position to be able to do the project and tell the story. Bobby saw the video for the first time this morning and we are both really glad we'll be able to look back on this someday and bring back all the memories. Actually, there was so much going on that week that I would have forgotten half of it already if I hadn't filmed it!
this is the most relatable build series i've seen , the amount of broken parts and wrong installations is the most relatable to what i've experienced working on cars.
PSA : Bobby is a legend.
Man, that start up got me. How great is that feeling.
The Air filter "bracket" was GOLD* wink wink!
Amazing work gents. The elephant is now off the platter.
I appreciate your putting this engine build series together. Most vid bloggers make this stuff look easy like it can be done in a couple of days. You appeared to be incredibly humbled by the sheer amount of work and effort needed to make this all happen. You have pulled off a monumental task at getting your blown Z06 back on the road. You have incredible friends. Congrats.
This is what he’s about man, the tears in his eyes hit fucking home for me and I truly felt that raw emotion. This is a channel that’s down to earth, and it shows. Congrats on the rebuild im so fuckin happy for you. May more seat time and even more fun mods come in your future my man!
I wish i had a garage buddy like Dr. Bobby
I just went through this in my yellow z06 except mine was a head swap and header install. Lots of work. But worth it and fun. Also a PITA. And I’m also in GA.
Seeing you get emotional when Goldie fired up was so genuine.. I can only imagine how you felt in that moment.. the commitment to this project not just monetarily had to be ridiculously overwhelming. Thank you for taking me along for the experience. I look forward to the next installment and dyno pulls..
Great video! We all need a Bobby to help us with our vettes ! Thank God for Bobby!! 😊
You can't have a better friend than Bobby. You guys are awesome. Can't wait to see the smiles when she's back on the track 👍
Im not aware of Bobbys expertise, but where does his engine knowledge come from?
@427Nut its just a question. Very lucky he has a friend thats knows LS7 engines so well.
You and Bobby killed this project. Good sh@t! Brother!
One of the best car videos I have ever watched. I've been following along the whole time and this video was great! Dr. Bobby is a stud! The magnitude of this project was immense, and obviously you're not just dropping a rebuilt small block Chevy into a Camaro, this is a super complicated and expensive endeavor. I hope everything works out with the tuner, really looking forward to the next video - thanks for the GREAT entertainment and sharing your adventure!
Been here since the beginning, so happy to see it running it again.
I'm in the process of taking the motor out of my C6Z due to a suspected rod bearing. I needed this video to motivate me to get my engine out today. Thanks Josh!
Congrats! I've enjoyed following your build. Hats off to you and Dr. Bobby! Love the reactions of both of you upon first start up -- priceless!
This is the Braveheart or Dances with Wolves episode of the Goldie saga. When she's complete, and you do donuts leaving your neighborhood, that will be the Transformers of the Goldie saga. I'm here for both. Excellent video, my friend!
@@JoshVanVeld I'm not sure having Dr. Bobby around MORE flammable liquid is a good thing... But explosions gotta explosion.
Amazing journey Josh, you and Dr Bobby make a great duo. Love the channel and see the two of you make a bond for life wrenching the iconic C6Z. I can't wait to see her on the track once again. 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks goodness to Dr. Bobby. And Gabe and Andrew who helped. I had tears in my eyes when Bobby said I think that’s the last plug.
Your build series have a rollercoaster ride of emotions; I can so relate to that.
This is not an easy task at all. So proud of everything.
P.s. your organization helped a lot with your build. Like putting fasteners in a bag and labeling them.
What an absolute treat to follow this build. You are killing it, man! I love the C6 Z06 and as a car guy myself, seeing you doing all of your own work is just perfect! Keep it up, my friend!
The Journey Continues! But the thing is, there is light at the end of the tunnel, even with the setback! So amazing to see her rolling again. Thank you for posting your trials and tribulations with this.
39:55 Even I was getting a little emotional watching the first startup. What a great job you two did with this. Like Bobby said, it's a massive undertaking and you guys did an exceptional job. And such a great watch over the last year. Congratulations Josh! And here's to figuring out one last fight from Goldie
Everybody needs a Doctor Bobby in their life. He seems to be so genuine and you two appear to have a great friendship 👍
Goldie would definitely not be up and running by now without Bobby's help. He's a true friend.
You don't know me from Adam. I have been watching your channel since you got Goldie. I am very happy and proud of what you have done! Keep up the good work!
Ooof, I’m the 666 commenter,
Gr8 story man! I hope the next chapter produces astonishing performance numbers beyond your expectations.
Your determination is remarkable and your family’s support is obvious too…with you ability to focus on the project.
Look forward to next posting!
Seriously one of the most underrated channels on youtube.
This series has been so fun to watch! It is so much more engaging when you include all the hiccups in the process; you are truly a blessed man to have a loving family and friends who support your dreams and are willing to get their hands dirty along the way. Can't wait to see you ripping Goldie around the track! Cheers from a BMW guy in California
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bro i know this journey has been hell over many times with literal blood, sweat, and tears. With a butt load of money invested into these legendary machines. But this right of passage here for a z06 owner will rarely ever be gotten these days so take MAJOR pride in this accomplishment truly. Not only do you get your just due reward brother, but you also left a extremely HELPFUL AND DETAILED video for this DIY project. Which you wont find on any channel that thinks like a none trained tech. So many of the questions we have you actually answered them perfectly while being understandable. Again way to go yellow Z brother!!!
Thanks man, feels good to think that somebody else might benefit from the project. 🤝
So happy to see Goldie running. Have watched every episode on your channel. Appreciate the transparency about the challenges you’ve faced. Much more relatable car guy content than the major channels, which admittedly I enjoy, but you make it easier for me to imagine doing something like this myself than the guys with a staff of 15+.
Wow! This is awesome. Congratulations to Josh and Dr Bobby!! You guys did it! This is such a great project. I’m glad to see Goldie up and running. Can’t wait to see some track vids. Have Dr Bobby also bring out the miata to track. 🎉🎉
Beautifully done video bud. Awesome job at finally getting your new Katech LS7 under the hood and running. I honestly shed a tear of happiness for you bro. Very well done. Can't wait till the next video.
I saw the final minute of this video live this morning as I was eating breakfast before heading out to my trackday, so I knew the ending without seeing the chaotic week you guys had leading up to the appointment at Vengeance. Congratulations on getting Goldie running! You did awesome!
I’m going to have a beer for you guys to celebrate. I’ve watched this journey from start to finish and have enjoyed every second.
Congratulations! So awesome to see her come back to life. What a great group around you as well.
Still following! That feeling with the car turns on for the first time is so emotional. I totally understand that. It made me wanna cry just watching it 🥹 Good luck with wrapping up the final touches!
Congratulations on the accomplished work and perseverance. I am glad that you remembered to prime it first!
It lives! This has been an amazing series to watch. All that hard work paid off.
That guy is such a great friend dont ever lose him 🤘🏼❤️
First time cheering to a screen for me haha. Congrats to both of you, hope you had a well deserved rest after that heroic wrenching stint.
Haha thanks! Knowing that people really enjoy the story makes the effort worth it!
Love watching I have a 2006 Yellow Z06 with 19,000 miles not even a stone chip but had it clear coated my car still smell's new really enjoying and watching this and hope that I never have this problem I never take the car over 65 hundred RPM the fuel pump shuts off at 6600 RPM and may be the big problem with value's possible....keep up the great work Ty for sharing from ONTARIO, CANADA.
Man, I smiled so hard when it tried to turn over for first time, I knew it would! Im so happy that the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight! I've really enjoyed watching this build series and I can't wait to see what comes next :) Well done brother!
Congrats Josh. Loved the "F it just try it moment".
I’m feeling so many emotions right now. Tremendous awe at what you have just done, happiness to know that the project is making huge progress and concern not knowing what caused this latest setback.
Thanks for being so open and honest about this journey. I will continue cheering you on from afar and waiting for the day you get to enjoy this labor of love, in the way you envisioned it to be. Thanks Josh!!!!
Thanks dude! Appreciate you for being along for the ride for so long and being so supportive. New video next week will shed light on the issues.
Way to go so far! Amazing to watch. We all feel like we were apart of the build here at the shop!
I really love the fact that this brought tears to your eyes. I'm in a similar boat but 2.5 years down the road with a 944 Turbo.
Josh and Bobby, bravo! What a sense of accomplishment. As a fellow Z06 owner, I can truly appreciate this video. Although I have addressed the heads myself, I was eagerly anticipating watching this. I must admit, it almost brought a tear to my eye. The story was fantastic, and you did an excellent job with the video editing, especially considering the demands of both such a project and daily life.
I came across your channel while I was shopping for a z06. I ended up buying a 2008 with 13k on it. Due to your experience and all the reading I did, I replaced the heads first chance I got after buying the car. With 13k on it, the shop that did the head swap for me told me mine were already out of spec. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the purchase and I’m happy to hear you made wise decision with the heads!
So happy for you Josh! You made it and Bobby is an awesome friend. Wish I was local because I would have helped you guys. Vengeance racing is a great shop! I’m wearing their hat right now as I watched this video. Looking forward to the next one. Great work guys!
Dude the look on your face when it started was priceless! I’m so glad you got her back on the road man!
Genuinely one of the best rebuild series I’ve ever watched. Great job man.
Glad she's going again! Going through an engine swap myself, watching this is good motivation and good reminder to keep organized throughout it. The organization you showed looked real and effective, not the unrealistic, almost cinematic organization, you see on some shows. Good choice on the Crooked River as for all of Dr. Bobby's help too.
Love your videos Josh, Goldie rebuild was awesome - great job. Your track videos are great, especially liked the C7 Z06, sound was so American muscle.
Having Vengeance right down the road is nice.
So glad I stumbled upon this channel! Phenomenal videos. Really enjoy watching the two of you wrenching on stuff!
Awesome! Great job sticking with the rebuild. Vengeance is where I had my C6z tuned.
Bro…..so happy for you to get that engine in! Watching you and Bobby wrench on Goldie has been awesome. Good luck with her the rest of the way. My vette must be related to Goldie, she fights me all way too for EVERYTHING. EXCELLENT CONTENT BROTHER! 👍👍👍
I absolutely love the sincerity of this video! Amazing job my friend on taking on this project. In the last 2 weeks I’ve removed my super charger on my Jag to replace a stupid plastic coolant line and replaced the trans & turbo on my NA Miata.
@@JoshVanVeld with the Miata yes, the Jag not so much as I was at Road Atlanta when I started to smell coolant at the end of my first session, major pain to remove the SC as it is pretty heavy and tough to do alone.
Been here since before the engine let go, loving this series of videos documenting this adventure!
Incredible series. Congrats on getting her back in action, hope they get that ECU situation sorted out soon for you!
Can't wait to see how it turns out. Just found this video via suggestion, and it's a good reminder of the thrill of the first start and agony of the little things that come up along the way. I've built many cars and each has their own challenges. That first start is always a surreal moment.
Nice! Glad to hear the story works even if you haven't watched the previous videos.
When I drain fluids I line the bucket with a garbage bag. I then take it to the oil drum, cut a corner and drain. Then toss the bag. Keeps the bucket clean etc. this was great. Always wanted to do what you did here.
Smart! I wouldn't have volunteered to tackle this but now that it's behind me I'm glad I did it.
@@JoshVanVeld Absolutely. I can see it taking less and less time the more you do it.
@@thereissomecoolstuff I feel like it also opens the door to take on something more ambitious down the road (still a lot more to do with Goldie).
@@JoshVanVeld you definitely took the long and expensive route in this. You know every inch of that engine. Now when the tranny gives up you can learn that as well. This series is saved if I ever go for it.
I'm so glad to see this. My C6 blown GS has been on stands for over a year now due to a bad/stuck lifter and it's just me working on it. Having hours and hours of roots blower removal and reassembly is a lot in the Texas garage heat. I get to it when I can but between starting a new business and being the dad to two kids, it's hard to get time to touch it.
Not sure what I'm trying to say other than thank you for sharing this. Great moments with your daughters too! Hoping to be back on the road soon.
Sounds like we've got a lot in common! One thing that surprised me was just forcing myself out in the garage to do one small task would usually result in several enjoyable hours in the evening or on a weekend morning. Don't try to get it done all at once, just chip away at it. Glad you enjoyed the video. 🤝
I had the same problem in my Texas garage until I insulated it and installed a mini split. Now I have a year round workshop. Not difficult to DIY.
I felt that emotion when first you started Goldie. And that drive in a rain torrent sounded epic. Congrats man
Found your rebuild series about a month ago, but man I’m happy for you! What a great feeling this must be.
Got goosebumps when it fired up great work!
Congratulations on getting Goldie started!! 🎉
Looking forward to the Dyno tune video 😁
40:11 I cried with you man, DAMN. I don't even have a Corvette, hate people with Corvettes! Can't afford one. GOOD JOB MAN!!!!! BTW, I didn't cry, it was eye coolant.
Congratulations on your accomplishment!
Great job and great video!
I hope your programming issue gets resolved quickly and easily!
Keep up the good fight!
Excited for you! I remember the feeling of accomplishment when I started mine after the rebuild. Congrats!
So glad this came up on my feed! A perfect weekend watch 👍
What an awesome journey this has been, seeing you light up on the first start was literally the best. Hopefully the tuning situation gets sorted out and you’re back to ripping on it!
Feels good to know I'm not the only one who had Nankang AR1s in the rain on these Vettes. Lol.
Stickiest tire I have ever had. But rides horrible when they are cold.
Congrats!!! Can't believe its been a whole year. Can't wait to see what the car can do. It was the longer less traveled road. However, when you're passing, lapping, & gapping super cars & professional shop builds with your garage build, decade old platform it literally is 10000x more rewarding and satisfying. Plus splurging on the engine and track goodies already, you cut the build cost in half if not more by doing it yourself. Was well worth the year of downtime!!!
Shout-out to Doc Bobby. I need to find the Dr. B of AZ lol.
Really excited for you seeing your journey. I can only imagine how you felt when it turned on! Awesome series.
This is awesome to see! Keep up the good work, I'm at a similar point in my own build and can really relate to how you are feeling, almost there!
i remember when me and my dad startrd up a motor we had rebuilt for his pontiac lemans for the first time and it was amazing! so happy goldie started hopefully you can get that ecu thing sorted out soon!
Dr. Bobby is da maaaan. Keep on going man love the content.
This definitely hit the feels real hard. So happy for you man! I’m getting ready to embark on similar journey to pull my ls7 out and I know it’s long but doable journey man thanks to you.
Good luck! I think the key to actually getting it done is to recognize that it will take a huge amount of work but chipping away at it will get you there eventually. Indecision paralysis was poisonous for me for a long time.
Awesome build series. It’s cool to see the emotion hit you. I’m about to take this same journey with my 5.9 Cummins. I’m OCD like you and will be cleaning and painting things that need it. Keep us updated on how she’s runs and what they find out.
great work my guy! glad i got to see it!
Pure joy on your face. Awesome job. I was too scared to try that fuel clear method lol. I pulled the fuel pump fuse lol
Good job and perseverance. It reminds me of the work I did on my C4 as I made it into a dedicated track car years ago, always challenges to overcome. Sometimes I found myself asking why do I do this to myself! But then you get it all together and go have fun and you enjoy the results. I look forward to the next installment of your project. I wish you and Dr. Bobby the best.
Oh, I am taking my C6 Z06 to the track soon, always a fun time and such a well balanced and fast car.
11 months cleaning up and 1 month building🤣🤣 bloody hell of an effort mate. Massive project well done👍
Loool. There were a couple of months in there waiting for pushrods. Thanks man!
This makes me happy since I just did my first lifter change on my LS7!
This video was the motivation I needed today. I'm to the point in my clutch replacement and torque tube rebuild where stuff needs to start going back together, and I've been dreading it all week. Thank you! (Yellow C5 Z06, clutch slave quit on me last weekend)
I love to hear that! I punted on my torque tube rebuild because I felt like I just had too much on my plate already and needed to whittle it down to the bare minimum to get it running again.
I've found that even when I'm dreading it, if I just go out into the garage and start working the momentum feeds itself and before I know it I'm having fun and making progress.
Congrats!! Great journey. Btw, torque wrench doesn't have accuracy when you use articulation adapter (motor mounts).
That’s just kinda how these cars go, they’ll fight you every step of the way. If everything isn’t perfect they’re unhappy and they show you quickly. But when they’re running right, 7 liters of raw NA power just hits and sounds different than anything else out there.
Thank you for sharing your epic journey!
Hell yes dude glad you got it started and got it running! Hopefully the ECU issue has been resolved!
As a tech. I say to a diyer congratulations. Determination was key.
Can't wait to see this thing rip! They'll get it sorted out, no doubt.
15:57 Starter - Looks like you didn’t add a starter heat shield. I didn’t on my cam upgrade either and started to get some heat soak. Hope you don’t have the same issues!
You're almost there getting the engine to run and idle is the biggest step
Hey man y'all did a great job and that's the Vette color and all that I would love to have!!!
Sigh of relief when I read the title. It’s been a minute.
I am so grateful to be a part of the Goldie rebuild . I almost have a little PTSD remembering some of the difficult parts but it was all worth it to see how happy it made you.
Docta Bobby u killed it man!
Man, your little pep talk primed me to tear up with Josh when it first started. The look on his face was awesome.

Really cool following your build. Congrats on the startup
@@cslavin4643 I appreciate that so much. Josh and I really had to push through that last day to finish the car.
@@05American I didn’t realize he was going to put that part in the video. I wanted to leave him a little easter egg during the edit.
He really developed so much on the mechanic side over this build. It was amazing to see 1st hand .
