    This question has nothing to do with this video, but how do you have your turtle basking platforms ramp set up at the angle that it looks like it’s at in the video? I have the same basking platform as you for my turtles, but the ramp is at like a 30 degree angle while yours looks like it’s at a 45. The problem with my ramp is that when the water level lowers even a bit, the turtles are unable to climb the ramp onto the basking platform. Thanks!!

      hmmm, I'm not sure, I just have it wedged into the little gap for it. Perhaps yours is not fitted all the way in? Just speculating, since I'm not really sure :)

    I love your setup and especially your explanation about how you set your heat higher to compensate for the floor it has to heat through. Judging by the comments and questions on Facebook a lot of people set up the heat without really checking the actual floor temp itself. Another topic might be explaining how you keep your ambient temps where they need to be. I have the same tank as you and have found it necessary to add heat emitters on top of the screen during Winter with a thermostat. People who question why their pets never come out of their warm hide need to understand just the uth is not always enough.

    • @TheTurtleGirl

    My leopard gecko likes to hide a lot and I see that yours moves around while during the day and mine just kinda stays in her hide all day, I am just kinda worried because she is my first reptile so I wanna make sure she is happy. She also mainly stays in her warm hide I am going to get some new hides to change them out and mix it up and I think she might just really like that hide a lot, I never really see her come out of her hide unless she is getting water or getting a cricket. ❤️❤️❤️🦎

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  4 роки тому +1

      At first mine hid a lot, then as I had him for the first couple months he started becoming more outgoing. Additionally, if the gecko is always on the warm side, perhaps you need to bump the temp up a few degrees, otherwise that might be an indicator that the gecko is only just warm enough when on the warm side, and is uncomfortable moving to the cold side.

      hey it’s completely fine your gecko is not out during the day because they’re nocturnal!!! So they’re most active at night. :) her gecko is most likely out because she’s talking and is in his cage so he’s curious!

  • @malayanay2768

    So leopard geckos don’t actually bask. Because unlike Beardies and some other lizards they don’t absorb heat through their back. They absorb it through their belly. That is because they are nocturnal. And aren’t normally out in the sun anyway. So it would be odd to see it basking. 😂

      While they are babies from ages 1 month to just under a year old, keep them in 10 gallons preferably. So that they will feel secure and not be as stressed. Along with either paper towel, tile, maybe repti-carpet, and eco earth can work when they are a year or older. You want to clutter it a bit so they have many places to hide, a small jar moist hide, one small warm and cool hide, and maybe some artificial cake plants to throw in there. Small water fish and food dish. I would start with mealworms and dust with calcium powder and d3. Make sure you have a heating pad as well. All of this, tank included, shouldn’t be more than $100
