How to catch GALJOEN!!! This was filmed last year during GALJOEN season, season is opening 1ste of March!! In this video we join Rean and Boeta Rademeyer targeting kob and galjoen in a view different areas and Jacques Malherbe targeting galjoen in Struisbaai.

The galjoen ( national fish of South Africa ), black bream or blackfish is found in the coasts of southern Africa from Angola to South Africa, and is generally found around reefs at shallow depths around 10 m. This fish can reach a length of 74cm or weight of 6,5kg which is a very big galjoen. Galjoen is very popular fish amongst South African anglers there bag limit is 2 but keep only what you need.They have been aged up to a maximum of 21 years.

howzit Zubair- i have only landed one cracker in cape town (false bay), but i am sure i have hooked into more than a couple! (broken hooks and smashed leaders!) lol- i am planning some exciting content, including a hunt for a Falsebay Cracker... would be awesome!!!
