4 Levels Of Defending A Cannon Rush - Is M2 Really BETTER Than GM?!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 гру 2021
- In "4 Levels of..." we get 4 players of different skill levels to execute or defend a certain strategy. We then pick apart their responses, excecution and game knowledge, point out the good and point out the bad and analyze the sometime very different approaches to the same problem.
In the end Harstem will give some input on what he believes to be the best way to win the given scenatio.
In todays very first episode we got an unranked, a diamond, a masters and a grandmaster player defending a cannonrush on Berlingrad.

Good luck, komrad friendo :)
glood game
good luck kaf fun
sorry about the mothership with ground army idea it did truly suck... try it again with blink stalkers... i don't think anyone would ever see it coming.... not even you...
Hamster's editing is getting crispier and crispier. 10/10 content.
Those cinematic drone shots from a low angle! :D
@@schubertludwig spot on, so damn cool.
Editor dif
Chicken!
How on earth is Harstem and Hamster consistently pumping out completely new content concepts at a top notch productional level for a 10 year old game without even breaking a sweat... this is actually a bit insane
couldn't have said it any better than that!
How, copying other genres/communities, but not said with disrespect, i loved this episode and hope they can utilize this idea in the future.
@@christhurston728 The correct word is "artistic inspiration" :P
On the one hand, I wish he played more games because I love his style and humor.
On the other, he's quickly become my favorite sc2 caster/coach ever. Including the currents like Lowko and even the day9's of the past. Wouldn't want him to ever leave too.
It's because Hamster is tapped underground with hostages to have him work 20 hours per video per day. Like WHAT were those camera angles on the probes, Ive never seen that in my life.
I appreciate you teaching everyone how to work on tactics that most people will have to deal with on the ladder. None of us will have to deal with the super high level that you compete at.
Gotta love how Harstem pronounces Cognite as "Cocknight".
Very good mix of documentary and tutorial. I don't even play this game, and I feel like watching this was a good use of 15 minutes of my life that I'll never get back :)
Hope we see more of these in the future :D
This is the best SC2 video I've watched so far. Including that one where local Finnish minigolf amateur is roasting Lowko.
I main zerg but still this was a VERY interesting watch! I'd love to see more "4 Levels of..." as it's both fascinating and educational to see how people of different skill levels deals with different situations - bonus points if T and Z is also represented.
This was some VERY creative content H&H! This series/format has potential to be extremely popular I think (especially if you include the two other races), keep up the good work!
This series would 100% also include Zerg and Terran perspectives, if it becomes regular.
I am loving these new creative series. Keep it up mate!
no such thing as pressux or etc
@@zes3813 not sure I follow.
Holy shit the editing is actually so good
Do the same but in the reverse, defending a cannon rush (from multiple skills levels) but as a terran or zerg :)
that would be awesome if you collaborate with pros (& their main race) and give extra tips/insights to the community
Outside of Void Rays or maybe Oracles there is any other viable PvT cheese? Securing cannon rush vs marines is not really a thing, too easy to snipe a probe and depower a cannon with ranged attacks.
@@gemsofsteel3648 There is proxy zealots, and also proxy forge + proxy zealots.
I assume the element of surprise is necessary, though. If you announce "get ready for my cannon rush!" it's not the same as playing a regular opponent.
@@gemsofsteel3648 I get wrecked by DTs pretty often.
A few minutes in and this is already top-tier! Don't even play SCII, but I appreciate a well-structured teaching approach, that can help a person of *any* experience-level learn. It is just satisfying to watch!
i love how much more professional this video is, it's a really neat and fun way to learn pretty hard stuff
Really nice content. And give your editor a damn raise - he did an incredible job here. He easily doubled the value of this video.
Also your in-depth analysis as a experienced pro-gamer made this video really enjoyable to watch to begin with.
With this video I am able to compare myself to various other players on different levels. What is my usual response? How does it fit into these defenders? What do you say about those peoples responses that I'm comparing myself with and how can I reach the next level of defending a cannon rush? And since you are the one cannon rushing them, I can assume that the mechanics and gameplay of the attacker is on a top-notch level - meaning these are the kinds of cannon rushes I could expect playing on the ladder.
The commentating and editing made it very easy to follow theories about things would work out if scenario x happened instead. The approach of not only having 4 different players on very different skill-levels doing their thing, but also including consequences of potential variations and outcomes, makes this whole video insanely educative.
I feel like this is the first step into reaching the masters-league of youtube and content-creation in general. Please keep up this incredible work; both you and your editor!
Glad you guys enjoy it so much! ^^
0:15 - I love how the only time Harstem greeted "gl hf" on TWO separate lines, his opponent also messed up the greeting! ahahahah :D
The editing in this was sick! Overlaying ghost structures, b-roll, awesome job Harstem!
Hamster is Harstem’s editor, and heck yeah he did amazing on this one!
@@ConstructMorePylons ah, I thought Hamster was an intentional misspelling/anagram of Harstem.
Honestly, this was among the best tutorial content ever made for SC II. I would rank it above the various Bronze to GM series by various content creators in terms of educational value, mostly because it is concise, and precisely focused on a particular scenario with which almost all players are at least passably familiar with. I love the format, and your presentation and editing was excellent. Really well done, and I hope this is the first of many in this series.
Holy crap the editing the insane. Props to Hamster!
Critics have noted in awe that, even while writing guides at the utmost technical level, our Author indulges still in flourished metaphors to convey his message. These metaphors are concise, to abide by the formal restrictions of professional documents, but they remain precious, nevertheless.
In the present work, for instance, a group of pylons used to wall a photon cannon is called a “flower of pylons”, and, when the opponent does not contrast adequately the pugnacious probe, he “grants it the true American freedom”.
In the first expression, pylons are represented by the petals of the flower, which are often the most beautiful part but only accomplish a secondary role, while the photon cannon, at the centre, is represented by the stamen and the stigma of the flower. The metaphor is strengthened by the contrast between the role of stamen and stigma, which are needed to generate new life, and the role of the cannon, which generates shiny balls of death instead.
The second expression is unfortunately so obscure and witty that critics did not manage to reach a consensus about its meaning. In particular, it was impossible to determine what the words “American freedom” are supposed to mean when used together. It has been recognized that the continent known as America features vast planes and beautiful forests and mountains, which could inspire a sense of freedom in the reader. Some critics have audaciously proposed that this expression may refer to historical or contemporary facts, but most of them are not concerned with such frivolous subjects as history, politics, or economics so that the mystery will most likely remain unsolved.
This is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time! The editing is so beautiful, especially the close up shots. And the writing is really engaging and well paced. I haven't been able to tune into your streams for a few months ever since I moved, but this youtube channel has kept up my passion in Starcraft II. Thank you for all the content!
This video was actually extremely helpful. Some weaknesses are obvious, some are not, but here are very well distinguished and differentiated by coparation. Thank you Harstem!
This is nothing less of a masterpiece of educational SC2 content.
This video was extremely high quality. Both concept and commentary as well as editing and presenting.
Gj you two!
Amazing quality. Animated clips of recommended response is next level. wow.
this sounds like an awesome new series! really appreciate the teaching aspect and pointing out the things all the different levels did well (in respect to their skill level) and were they could approve. also editing is top-notch as always!
Excellent quality and great content. Wouldn't expect anything less from the H&H Co. Also, love the new idea. Would love to see more of this against other cheese plays (even if unorthodox IE rax rush vs toss or something). Keep up the good work Cowboy ❤️
hamster harstem combo out here turning my nightmares into content
ggs cap, i wont trust a probe ever again
But are they just one person, meaning harstem 🐭
Now I want to see the Terran and Zerg responses!
Also- GM had the best tech in case of a low ground pylon...
M- dont need that if there aint no low ground pylons XD
14:20 Idk why but that announcer jumpscared me! xD
I have to admit, he has an intimidating voice xD
Awesome tips Captain! Cannon rush become more and more popular on my games now like 40% are trying to photon me. But 3 racks terran is more painful, as much as early roach ravager push.
The script was so well written! Really high quality content. Thank you for making this.
This is such a great concept for a series. Looking forward to seeing more :)
The production quality here is insane. Great work Captain and Hamster
LOVE this new content 💗💗
Great job Kevin, and great editing Hamster!
Amazing editing, I enjoyed it to the fullest, great job wow
So what do you do against unwanted members of your extended family coming into your natural at Christmas?
Love these types of videos; just recently I was thinking it would be nice to see some tutorial type content again since its been a while since you have done it. I also think there is a lot of potential for this format, like countering all types of different builds that people tend to get tilted about. Maybe just a little sad all the cheeses are gonna be exposed but if anything it will force us cheesy players to improve our ability to adapt our builds.
Harstem, please dont take this comment lightly, but you are one of my favorite gaming youtubers, for more reasons than one. You have really progressed over the years, and im proud to have seen your journey. Well done, harstem!
Please continue this series! It could also be executing a timing attack, such as an early roach push, proxy 3 rax or Zest's "50 shades with glaives" timing. Please also with the other two races :)
Awesome video captain! Also congrats on solid performance today (or yesterday?) at the WTL
glood game! love your vids, this one is especially informative, thank you! keep up the good work, have a nice christmas and a happy new year! :)
Very nice editing showing potential scenarios!!!
8:59 i love the analogies to real world events that dont last forever where people dont really prepare for the longterm
Dude, your content is so creative, and fun to watch! The real MVP. Hope your channel keeps growing man! Amazing player and content creator! Hamster is really cool too ^^
^^
Damn it Kevin you've done it again! Re-inventing the youtube meta with these type of challenges.
Nice format. Thumbs up for your creative content!
Hamster, you are the beast! These animations and are insane!
This is a wonderful idea, I hope to see more videos like it.
Just starting the video: "A well executed cannon rush". Oh so you've got a guest on the episode? Who's helping you out?
the production value keeps going up and up through the roof
Harmstem is the real protoss ambassador, this video makes justice on one of the most common hated and oldest chesse of our beloved strategy game.
The only thing I would change next time is marketing: This serves as an awesome tutorial but might be missed by people looking for "PVP canon rush defense tutorial"
or maybe "deep analysis" or something. This is great content and you'd hate to see it not get the publicity it well deserves!
Nice vid, good change of pace 10/10
best edited video on youtube right here.
This was awesome. Thank you so much. Makes me want to get back to playing
This was brilliant. More please!
Top notch editing
whoever does the editing for these videos is a god.
Thanks mere mortal
Really amazing kind of contents. Thanks!
Hamster, that is amazing editing actually. No idea how you did the layering and the visualisations of the alternatives
another fantastic idea from the cowboy captain
Convincing with enthusiasm is IMBA
12:58 - "pinal walls" :D
Oh god I am unranked never played multiplayer game I am so slow been 2 years I listen to sc2 content I've tried like last week to play a game result after my first push I knew I was too slow and too bad, but I won't do a imba complaint cause I know I suck hard
Thanks for the content on new player unranked it's a lot refreshing !!!
Have a real nice Christmas and a happy new year healthy and wealthy !
Dankie Harstem, your videos are really informative, please keep posting.
Love the format and content, best video so far! Hope you make this a series and include some T&Z content!
It will!
fun video. the cinematic probe shots were my favorite though
Great content. Very enjoyable
wow. great concept for a video and great execution
Awesome idea for a video I hope to see more of these!
Woooow what high quality, is sc2 actually a live game !?
Also: Insanely good editing, I'm highly impressed. Are there more harstems+hamster ckmbos for all other games? Excellent video!
fantastic video thanks Kev
Great visuals!!
Feeling better about loosing to cannon rushes already, thank you Harstem
Reiswald truly is a hero to be respected
That production quality is sensational
This is all well and good, Kevin, but where is my Christmas song?
You keep hitting home-run with these videos :-)
Always love your content harstem, i dont play sc2 actively but still watch every video you post. This is a great video and reminds me of some of the old day9 videos expect your humour is better and you have more creative ideas.
When are we seeing you doing another cover of a sc2 parody song!
8:00 I'm starting to think this was an episode of Cheesiest man alive that went badly for The Cowboy so they pretended it was a new show.
Mad can(n)on story xD
super good editing:)
great experiment captain.
fun vid, worthy a like!
This was great!
awesome, and very helpful. MORE of that please. Thanks - How to defend Proxy Void and 4Rax, best way against Mass Carrier (when not scouted ^^,)
Berlingrad (the name of the map) literally translates as ,,City of Berlin" in Bulgarian language.
Grad = City.
This was great content!
From a peruvian toss who never dealt properly to a cannon rush. Thank you
Amazing video! Me encantó!!!
great series
This is the best thing I have ever seen 100/10
Very nice.
Wow editing is very good
Music is just on point.
Great insight
That was a very nice exercise / experiment, but I feel like only 1 game per each skill bracket is very inconclusive, and even inaccurate.
Why not play THREE games at EACH skill bracket? That way you have more data points from which to extract tendencies and overall conclusions.
To be fair the master 2, C0gnite, plays on NA while arrogfire plays on EU soooo....
Great Idea for a video Headstone.
best video you did so far! glood game hastem.
I hope this concept isn't restricted to PvPs only, as tosses are the easier players for you to find.
It definetely isn't. But we kinda had to start with a cannon rush and as you said, Protoss players were the easiest and fastest to find ^^ But if this becomes a series it will include all matchups! (at least longterm ^^)
@@hamster_designs we need proxy voidray defense in tvp
