Thanks for this very unique view of my youth. Though I left almost 35 years ago in my early 20's, I grew up there. Lots of fond memories. A few changes now of course. Kilmory has expanded (lots more houses) and the high school is...different (I went to the old high school, now demolished for houses). My mum & dad (me too for a couple of summers) worked in the big A&B psychiatric hospital - now a ghost town.
The abandoned primary school just got demolished this year in 2023 (16 years after it became abandoned) There might be some housing development planned because why would they leave it all those 16 years and just decide now to go and demolish it, I think it’s to create space for more housing, which will help create more available rent in the area. Whitegates ( former learning centre ) might be demolished in the future but nothing confirmed yet
Croatian guy and Lochgilphead, now there's a story to be told with a glass of Jura. All the way to Ardrishaig and Oban, this part of Scotland will stay engraved in my heart. Thank you Paul for the video. p.s. I hope that rabbits and midges arent giving you much problems in summer :)

@@bremnersghost948 yes, I agree. The new front green is really lovely, but the only thing I really miss about the old front green is that it had a swimming pool and they allowed the funfair to come to town every year, now this new front green has no swimming pool and now they don’t allow the funfair to come to the town because they want to ‘protect the ground’ I don’t know why. And they even hold other events there, but it’s the council’s land so they decide. It’s still quite nice though in terms of the new cycling path but the raised ground levels won’t stop the tide from flooding as it’s reached the area where the sweetie shops and chemists are and that was in the 80s and 90s, even after that going up to recent times, they still have to go around on quad bikes removing all the seaweed that has been beached up onto the grass by the waves. What really annoys me is that the new play park is only for ages 13 and under The old play park was for ages 16 and under and it never go vandalised so I don’t know why they changed the age limit I still see older children using the park though, obviously I’m not the only one unhappy about the age restriction. There have been some changes in the town like. The Elf’s Nursery that got permanently shut down around 2013 which then became a community centre A youth club which is in private ownership Future plans to make safer cycle routes to school Future plans to expand the youth club into a BMX and skatepark + activity club The library has now relocated from their own building into the community centre, the library’s used to have their own building and parking until last year it shut and moved into the community centre building.
