  • When Bill Cooley first came to Nashville, his specialty was electric guitar, blending all the rock influences he got to take in back in his home state of California. But over the years of being a go-to session and touring musician, and especially in his time in Kathy Mattea's band, acoustic guitar became his primary instrument. Whether playing blues and jazz in standard tuning, or exploring open tunings for Celtic melodies and his own beautiful compositions, Bill's playing combines a strong rhythmic sensibility with a deft, lyrical touch that draws out each guitar's unique voice. His wide-ranging musical experience shines through in his diverse repertoire, and is reflected in his excellent original tunes.
We had a wonderful afternoon with him, as he played his tunes on his own Galloup Northern Light GA as well as a selection of our guitars.
All music performed written by Bill Cooley:
"Stones River Blues" (Turnstone TM Sycamore)
"Bear Claw Blues" (Bill's own Galloup Northern Light)
"Isle of Inishmore" (Traugott Model R Long Scale)
"Prayer for the Providers" (Santa Cruz 000-12 Deep Body)
In addition to having four solo albums, Bill also teaches regularly and is available for online lessons. Learn more at:
