    Can't thank you enough Tim. Your story brought back a flood of memories from when I lived on a boat. You can't describe the sounds of water lapping against the hull and the sounds the lines make when she's in her slip and the night breezes gently push the boat. Thanks again.

    I just binge watched your whole series on building your boat. What an experience that was and I'm so glad you shared it. I never thought I'd want to sail boats until recently when I started watching boat videos. I happened onto your video when I wanted to see about making a boat and I learned so much watching how you went about making yours. Very inspiring. Tim I have loved your videos. Have sailed since just before my 5 th birthday. And worked on the water for many years even leaving high paid jobs for below minimum wage just to be on boats and near the water again.
    Now at the age of 45 living life for family and love not money and things I am going to start a cat build, a mix of 3 designs and my own flair. But as I have collected memories not money it will be a ply west system. Many hate this idea but as there are Wood design boats still sailing the globe that were never glass 30yrs later I'm sure enough in my skills to know I can make it work. Love your boat and know it's a truly love venture not a cash grab. And hope that one day I have the same satisfied results and emotion. As you do when thinking of you build.
    Well done mate. Hope life has treated you well and you are as happy now as your first day on the water in you girl.

All the best with your project Angus. Cheers Tim

      Thanks Tim will do. There's a few references start with the free CSC30 plan combine with a couple of Woods and Tasmania designers and sprinkle in the stupidity needed to start and beet back all the anti Ply guys and that'll be it.
      Woods has one of his cats still sailing built over 30 years ago out of ply that he never covered in glass, not even the waterline so that and the fact ply is much better now gives us hope.
      All the very best mate Gus.

    Wow! What a beautiful boat! I was lucky enough to build yachts on the Outer Banks, U.S., 42' -85' for 6 years. I helped build 3. And I have to say, you have definitely mastered not only the technical aspects but also the extraordinary craftsmanship! I hope you are still involved with yachts in some way. At the very least a marine architect. I also have to say, I love the Aussie engineering. You need something, you figure it out and just do it. Here in the US, there's a lot of red-tape, permission, permits and money. Thank you for sharing a fantastic story with the world!

      Hi Will. Thanks for your kind words. Yes, still involved and like you say at the moment I am spending more time with plan creation and design. And trying to inspire others to follow their dreams too 😉. I was in the US to pick up a large yacht once and I'm impressed with the workmanship and dedication on your side too.. In a lot of areas Oz its more and more red tape but boat building seems to still one area of freedom.. Cheers Will!

    Wow! Thank you for sharing all of this! That was much more than I was expecting to see from a ‘building your own boat’ video and I felt like I was there along the way with how much you shared and I was rooting for you to launch along the way!
    I honestly don’t think I could have invested that much time and effort into my life and just sell it in the end, but to each their own and I’m glad to see it was still well taken care of after it left your hands!

    Just watched the complete series from start to finish..... All I can say is, EPIC! Your dedication to see a very laborious and difficult task through to fruition and then enjoy the fruits of your labour is inspiring. The sailing part I get - I'm actually a professional sailor and sailing instructor who has lived and sailed all over the planet for over 30 years. To me, cruising the 7 seas is still one of the last true freedoms modern humans can experience. I'll be going again soon......
    I also want to commend you on the way you paced the series and put it together. There is so much shit on UA-cam and it was a pleasure to watch your videos from start to finish. BTW, I now live down the road from Noosa and enjoyed the shots of Tokyo Expresses launch by crane. Again, EPIC!

    • @TimWestonboats
      @TimWestonboats  7 років тому

      Hi Mark, many thanks for your comment. I agree sailing is the last freedom, in so many ways.. 30 years, it sounds like you are well and truly bitten by the bug.. Good on you. I am itching to get back out on the water again too. I'm not there these days but Noosa and the sunshine coast really is a magic place, especially if you have a boat, a lot of fond memories from my time there.. All the best and for your next adventure too! Cheers Tim

    Tim you are a legend. I write to you from my timber factory in China. I have been toying with building a boat here and this was a real inspiration. I have a factory full of kiln dried Australian Cypress material and epoxy is cheap and plentiful here, so it is do-able if I could find the time to supervise it. Cypress is much heavier than your Cedar, but by selecting the right wood I think it would work. I am too long in the tooth to do what you did, but I have a good bunch of workers. I am close to a giant lake the connects to canals and then the Yangtze and then the sea, but getting it out of the factory would be a challenge. After binge watching your videos I can see that planning it everything.
