Dude. In the 1990's this was my daily driver. It will sweep very well as you can see. That is a tiny directional coupler. It will do Amazing things with 1 5/8 coaxial too. LOL With the proper software it could check a base station channel by channel pretty quickly. The problem we had, most cell techs didn't know how to use them or how to run the software. We should have fired all those guys because all they did know how to do was sweep the floors of the shelters and check a clipboard. The real techs knew how the use this device. I slept next to this thing more than I did my wife in the 90's. Just a shout out to all those cell techs that never learned this thing and hated those of us who did... you weren't RF guys then... and you aren't RF guys now.

Hi ,where did you get your memory card from as I have been looking for them to upgrade my 89220m ,I was hoping a different type would work or use a adapter and a micro sd card but again not sure what will fit as I can not see memory card pin out any help would be appreciated. Stay healthy
I watched the whole video! You connect the RF output to the OUT of the coupler. Bit surprised. I have a reflection bridge with IN OUT and DUT .... i am wrong connecting the antenne to DUT and INPUT of this bridge to RF output and the OUTPUT ( SWR ) to the INPUT of the analyzer?
I think I owned one once. Hard to remember. I think it is for cell phone use and is limited but does have a RF generator and Power meter. If I remember right there are several options. One of the options adds a spectrum analyzer which makes it more valuable.
@@IMSAIGuy Yes, I saw a M demoed, it had the spectrum analyzer option. Seemed as capable as a 8920a for radio work. But, all that was demoed was the spectrum analyzer. They are pretty reasonable...
@@californiakayaker Yes you can find deals on them. I remember the 8920/8921 being much better when I got it. More flexible as a general instrument if I remember right. Not to slight the 8922 it is nice for the right price. The spectrum analyzers are pretty basic in all of these and I wish I had a $1000 siglent with tracking generator for most things. I've owned several analog spectrum analyzers. a 22ghz and 40ghz but never needed anything above 1ghz so sold them. I got my 8921 for $100 so hard to justify spending on anything else.
Have a hp8920a a few weeks ago...and did the following test, take a handic and measure the output power in the rf input port and set "tx test" the value was 1.92W, then probe in spectrum analyzer and the value 30.18 dbm = aprox 1.191w why are differences between this modules, need calibrated the equipament? or I'm doing something wrong, please help!!
Hmm. not sure. I would only trust the power measurement circuit as it is a true power meter. The spectrum analyzer is not a great tool to measure absolute power levels. I used to design power meters and scalar network analyzers. They both use a true 50ohm power sensor detector on the front end. A spectrum analyzer does not have this. Having said that there might be a calibration of the 8920 that would make your two measurements more accurate. I don't know enough. I only use the spectrum analyzer for relative measurements.

I used to have a HP8922S but your device can do much more! Judging the number you would assume the 8922 was more enhanced ....

Have you seen a 8922g ? I noticed it has a 75w input port. Other than that, I know little about it.

If you have the scheme of the HP8920 because I have a difference in the measurement of 0 dBm, I -3.53 dBm.
