My grandad's neighbor used to remove the glass from the SoundGard cabs and run them like that. He did not like tractor cabs at all. Tough old buzzard. LOL
Fun Time Friday. Oh boy my favorite era of ag equipment 1930s through early 1980s. Just love the look of John Deeres of that era. So simple to work on making maintenance easier than todays electronics in modern machinery. The tractors are well cared for, likely to be washed after each days use by the operator. Wide open spaces in that part of our great nation look so beautiful. This was a great way to end the week or the start of the weekend, watching farmers doing what they do best, grow crops & livestock. Be well to you your family & staff @ BTP 🚜🇺🇸👍
The 4455 is probably the best tractor John Deere ever made. I can imagine this configuration would be at the top of the mark for such things as planting. I imagine it would handle a 12-row no-till planter quite nicely while giving the operator unmatched visibility and maneuverability.
We were able to pick up one of these rare 4455’s last year and run it on our feed mixer in southern Illinois. We love the thing and wouldn’t trade it for the world! It’s great to have a neat piece of history!
Very cool. I was raised on a farm in eastern Iowa town of dyersville. We had a 4440 with chrome stack and 2 x 4020. One 4020 was narrow row with a scoop on the front and no cab. The other 4020 was cabbed and was for grinding feed and other jobs around the farm. They were awesome and always started right up no matter how cold it was...as long as it was plugged in of course.
God I couldn't have been born in Iowa instead of upstate NY? That drone landscape shot looks so much better than ours. The edges of every field here have houses on them getting closer and closer to the farms every year
At 3:31 I recognized the dealership decal on the blower. Valley Equipment, Hortonville WI. My grandpa got a lot of his equipment there. I remember riding along when I was 3 or 4 to get a brand new 4050. The salesman is still a family friend, and he gave us Packers playoff game tickets in '97 when they won the superbowl. Small world. Wonder how that blower made its way to Iowa....
Wow that tractor looked immaculate look like they just finished redoing it and it sounded really nice too and he was starting it up and rubbing it and the drone footage was great to very very beautiful location
Nice tractor! Wasn’t aware that any 4455’s were built after ‘92. Beautiful farm and I really enjoyed seeing the young men doing what I grew up doing. I didn’t think anybody started them that young anymore. But...!, those ABSOLUTELY ARE NOT the same fenders used on a 4020! You have the film right in front of you. Pay attention. Please.
That was interesting info. I did not know that about the JD 4455 Open Station model being destined for Mexico and having an 8 speed synchro etc. I never did see such a tractor. They all had cabs around here in Saskatchewan.
Do you have any videos showing the tobacco farming that you have mentioned in your other videos? Would be very interested to see how that is done as I'm not familiar with it at all.
Geeze, our new accountant says we have all these spare parts for discontinued tractors sitting in inventory and wants to charge us the scrap cost! Can't we do something with them to make some money instead!?
Total luck. I was driving down the road looking for something to film and spotted the farm running a 780 Hydra Push spreader. I asked if I could film the spreader because you don’t see them everyday. After the 780 I was invited to film the chopping. I was glad I stopped.
The 4455 is a very different"animal".Its the"Frankenstein"of John Deere's tractors."A piece from here,a piece from there,it has a ducks guts."(line from mad max)
Can tell just by looking at it that it doesn't have the same fenders as a 4020. As far as the transmission and rear end, neither a 4020 synchro nor a 4430 rear end would hold up to a 4455 powerplant. They may be the same design but are definitely not "the same".
The rate at which they were feeding the blower seemed huge. And, the silo is very tall. Was the 4455 struggling to keep pace? I saw no smoke, and not enough audio to know how it was handling the load.
150 john deere blower is the same as a 40 new holland. 38" fan that is direct 1000 rpm drive, no reduction. Those blowers will take silage faster than a 10 ' ag bagger will.
I remember when these came out. Someone locally bought one but it had longer axles and hub duals. They only kept if for a few years and traded up to a cob tractor. You could also get that ole syncro range transmission in the 30 series tractors. I ran a 4230 with a syncro range transmission.
Very cool tractor, I love the rare JD’s like that. Do uyoi have any clips of some of they hydraulic front wheel assist 20/30/40 Series JD’s? I’m sure you could make a whole video on them ;-)

@@bigtractorpower We don't use it too much right now because we got newer tractors but when my dad used they put a monosem 6 row precision planter and a John Deere mx425 disk

That's actually a really neat history for a popular model numbered tractor. Awesome job finding this one

The older open station deer’s look amazing
Yeah deer looks amazing:)

Nothing runs like a Deere and that’s a mighty fine example there for you all right there too !
It is a cool tractor.
that 4455 sounded great with the chrome straight pipe and a good looker too.
So great to see young person with a great work ethic. Kudos to you and your parents. Handles those tractors like a boss.

@@bigtractorpower when was the parade? I missed it again!! I was going to put my H in the parade.
One thing i like about open station tractors is the roll bar makes a good easy spot to mount a light bar
That is a unique JD indeed, did not know that, great to learn so much of the past in tractor manufacturing, very nice farm
Nice old Deere... 😍💪👍
It is a stand out.
Beautiful farm!
👍😁
Good video. Nice tractor. Thank you

Very unique tractor! Reminds me of the Johnny cash song "One piece at a time and didnt cost me a dime" Also very clean and well kept farm they have!
It is a little bit different part of John Deere history for sure.

Awesome video! I remember when those tractors came on the market.
I do too. They really stood out with the black trim under the fenders and new decal. My neighbor bought one new and still runs it today.
Great job with the drone footage! It really adds something great to the videos.

I've never seen a open station 4455. I wouldn't have believed it, if I hadn't seen it.
I had not come across one until I found this one.
It’s two tractors put together
The 4020's also had powershift models just the synchro is more popular. Our farm has a powershift model.

That’s a pretty cool tractor, a “limited edition” version of a 4455. Nice find 👍

A few people have pointed out the fenders. To me they look like the 4020 steel fender with plastic end caps for the lights. I guess I was wrong.
(sniffle sniffle) You're in God's country, my friend.
That's quite a John deere blower other than that 55 series tractor. We run the popular case 600 blower with a 2940 deere.
Geeze, our new accountant says we have all these spare parts for discontinued tractors sitting in inventory and wants to charge us the scrap cost! Can't we do something with them to make some money instead!?

bigtractorpower yep, those are my favorite tractors of all time

Jason, great video but how are the fenders on the 4455 the same as the ones on a 4020?
A few people have pointed out the fenders. To me they look like the 4020 steel fender with plastic end caps for the lights. I may be completely wrong.
The 4455 is a great tractor, I'm not a fan of open station......... probably because I ate dust for years growing up..lol
I get allot of requests to feature open station tractors. They look cool but an enclosed air conditioned cab is hard to beat.
I, like all is good.
What an awesome find! I’d like to know the back story of how you found out about it.
Total luck. I was driving down the road looking for something to film and spotted the farm running a 780 Hydra Push spreader. I asked if I could film the spreader because you don’t see them everyday. After the 780 I was invited to film the chopping. I was glad I stopped.

Defiantly a little different than a standard John Deere. The company has been known to keep older designs in production for South America and Mexico.
@@bigtractorpower That's what you were saying in this video.I would by it,as long as it's reliable,I don't see anything wrong with it.
