I’ve been a motorcycle enthusiast, owner of dozens of bikes and done my own maintenance/repairs for over 50+ years. Just want to congratulate you on tackling a pretty involved service item never done before and describing steps is a way easily understood for others. You’re a natural mechanic, well done.
I was able to change my coolant on my 2004 Ninja 250r with the help of your video. Took several hours but saved $$$. Thanks for the vid! Got my bike to start!
awesome vid!. I was changing my coolant today cuz it was low. I have the new gen 250's and it was almost the same as mines except that my coolant bottle is located on the right side. everything else was the same. I followed all your instructions and flushing out my coolant was a breeze. thank you!
Wonderful commentating & tutorial, thank you! I have a neglected 2005 with original coolant and need to change it asap. Now I know exactly what to djo. This was so awesome!
Thanks, great tutorial! And as far as getting the air out of the cooling system, the overflow tank does that for you:) On older 'closed' systems that was required, though. :)
So helpfull. I have just did the coolant change and your tutorial was great. I have got a ninja 250r 2008 and the process is the same, only diferent thing is antifreeze deposit and radiator cap is on the right side. I turned on bike and let it get all antifreeze into the system then i full radiator again.I also did the 10-15 mins warm up, for taking out air. I have seen in other videos for a complete clean you need to fill and drain twice with destiled water and one more with antifreeze.
Great video. I need to do this to my Ninja 250 this spring and it was super-helpful. I read somewhere that when emptying the coolant, and then again to get air bubbles out after refilling it, it's a good idea to gently rock the bike from side to side a few times. Just throwing that out there...anybody more knowledgeable than me, feel free to correct me on this.
So clean, it looks like new. I am in the market for an ex250. I found one with overheating problems (and possible burnt pistons). Wondering if it is worth taking that project on
Thank you for uploading this video :) I am going to flush the coolant this week's Saturday. Your video makes it look really easy :) One question. what year is your Ninja? Does it have gas gauge or temp gauge on right hand side ? Thank you :)
Thanks for answer. I just got Ninja 250r /year2012/, I guess the clocks came of the older version haha checked the manual and I should have gas gauge but instead I have temp. hahaha Well anyway, keep on uploading and ride safe :)
50/50 blending when it comes to coolant means 50% coolant and 50% antifreeze which is also clearly printed on the bottle. Unless you ride during the winter, your diluting the effects of 100% coolant and rendering your cooling system less effective. This should still work for you but its better to keep your bike as cool as possible. Your parts last longer.
Great time to replace that shift linkage see that crack on the ball joint leave you stranded if not carry plenty of zip ties and a small spool eh 5 ft is plenty of tie wire like electric fence wire thickness nice bike tho
omg yours uses screws? I always have to take out my 8 and 10 mm sockets to work on my bike. I rarely use a philips screw driver for anything =/ INTERESTING! :)
Bottled water would be fine. Heck, any water is fine, water is water for coplant systems (if clean yes), the only difference between water and antifreeze is that hey, the antifreeze, doesnt freeze and helps prevent rist a tad. Some specific antifreezes are formulated anti corrosive too but thats it. Now, do you want to run water all time? NO, your coolant system will start rusting for sure. But for a temporary deal its fine although antifreeze is cheap.
+Mr.Knuckle Head Ended up flushing my 86 Ninja 250 after having cooling problems, I got a bottle of flushing fluid with water pump lube and ran that for a day with fresh antifreeze and drained the system and refilled again with premixed antifreeze, Worked way better after that, Was surprized by all the nasty crud that came out.. All coolant systems need flushed every now and then lol
+Syphious oh that's so true haha, I'll have to flush mine soon cause I got a 2007 ninja that's sat since 2008... Just got it running today and it needs all fluids flushed basically😭
+Mr.Knuckle Head Yeah haha, Youll want to change all fluids and clean the carbs, its a pain but worth it to ride, EFI is very nice I will say though, I had an R6 for a while and it was nice not worrying about carbeurators
Duh Wrong ! It is very important to run the engine and let the water pump move coolant throughout the engine. This "Burps" the engine. Let engine cool until it is safe to open the cap, and then top up the coolant ! Pouring it in slowly has NOTHING TO DO WITH REMOVING AIR BUBBLES FROM THE SYSTEM !!!!

Thank you! My daughter is working on her first bike. A 2007 250R ninja. You were very helpful
Great video. I loved how you were very descriptive and went slowly. I'm about to go try this for the first time as well. Wish me luck!:)
Good luck! :)

I just changed my oil today and was scared to change my coolet but after this video I feel more confident :)
Great job I just bought a 03 ninja ex250r and need to change all the fluids thanks again you got my sub
Thank you! We need more people like you doing this stuff!
Thanks, great tutorial! And as far as getting the air out of the cooling system, the overflow tank does that for you:)

This tutorial was super helpful! I just got my first bike 08 Ninja 250R.
How often does the liquid refrigerant change in the ninja 250
Your video helped a lot! I have the 2002 version of this bike and I was able to drain the bike with no problem.
So clean, it looks like new. I am in the market for an ex250. I found one with overheating problems (and possible burnt pistons). Wondering if it is worth taking that project on
In regards to the air bubbles, you can get rid of them by running the bike with the cap off for a bit or just tap the radiator and the coolant lines.
That top hose on the coolant reservoir, is it just a vent or does it go on something?
Usually giving the hoses a good squeeze is still often a good idea as it gets much air out
What's that hose coming out of the top of the resovoir??? Mine's missing it.
Thank you for the detail. I just got a Ninja 500, and need to do the same, by chance is the coolant setup/drain bolts the same? Thank you.
I have the exact same bike as you! : D
Great job on the tutotial!
How did the prestone stuff compare to original?
Pretty sure it's the same stuff just brand names
I could be wrong but I bet they would be so similar the differences would be negligible
what year is your bike? I have the same bike and mine is 98. Do you know how to change air filter?
What year is your bike? I am wondering if I have to do the same for my '09?
I have a 2010 ninja 250. Would it be the same as yours? I plan to do this tomorrow lol. Great video by the way
Great video well demonstrated thank you for uploading have a great day!
wht s d reason you change d coolant?.
I have the same exact bike! This should be easy. Thanks!
Also you don't have to wiggle them off, just gently pop each end off at a time ^_^
Thank you for uploading this video :) I am going to flush the coolant this week's Saturday. Your video makes it look really easy :) One question. what year is your Ninja? Does it have gas gauge or temp gauge on right hand side ? Thank you :)
+daro ChaNNeL Hey, glad you liked it and good luck! This ninja is a 2005. It doesn't have a gas gauge but does have a temp gauge.
Thanks for answer. I just got Ninja 250r /year2012/, I guess the clocks came of the older version haha checked the manual and I should have gas gauge but instead I have temp. hahaha Well anyway, keep on uploading and ride safe :)
Hey I have a 07 ninja 250 and my cooling fan stopped working do you know why?
Check fuse
Great video! Very helpful!
Great Tutorial!!! thx
i thought you had to put distilled water and vinegar into the coolant thing for it to wash out the coolant that is still in there
Spray a little WD-40 on those grommets and the pins will slide out easier.
This helped so much!
Awesome bike
Thanks!

Nate Sand coolant is antifreeze. You meant "50/50 is 50% water and 50% antifreeze/coolant"... They're the same thing^
haha im in australia, we use coolant with extra anti-Boil
Coolant is antifreeze when it comes to cars. I learned today performance coolant will freeze in a motorcycle.
Great time to replace that shift linkage see that crack on the ball joint leave you stranded if not carry plenty of zip ties and a small spool eh 5 ft is plenty of tie wire like electric fence wire thickness nice bike tho
@7cakemomma5 I've got a 2005. It should be fairly similar with the '09.
very good
Great vid! Lol im a noob lol if you do any other repairs make a vid!
omg yours uses screws? I always have to take out my 8 and 10 mm sockets to work on my bike. I rarely use a philips screw driver for anything =/ INTERESTING! :)
@mikeyway3210 Thanks, glad it helped! :)
Did your husband/boyfriend go to MMI in Phoenix?
I didn't break it off. The previous owner did. I have yet to break anything on Dusty. :p
ahora ya se como gracias por todo
Ramiro Velazquez De nada!

Also water will evaporate out of your system leaving you dry after a bit.

I don't have a husband or boyfriend, haha.

Coolant is bad for your skin???? Well... Shit...
your a ten millameeter bro'
Gloves NO NO NO !!!!
Not bad for a broad
you man or women?? i like your voice..
Omfg. She's clearly a woman, bro.
Why do so many Indian people say the word "bro" ?
Thank you. Quite informative.
