Hello dear friends. I have exciting news. In 2015 I'm going to produce a new drama on the first African American priest, Father Augustus Tolton. You’ll be inspired and motivated by his courageous story.
It's Missouri, 1864. Martha Tolton is a slave whose children are being whipped daily as they labor in the fields. Escape is the only way to save her family from a life of cruel bondage. In the dead of night, they steal away and make the twenty mile trek to the Illinois border. On the bank of the Mississippi River she finds a dilapidated row boat and pushes out across the dark waters, while bullets from angry Confederate soldiers whiz by. Miraculously, Martha and her children make it to freedom.
God had a mission for this heroic mother. Through Martha Tolton's courage, determination, and unshaken faith, and despite overwhelming adversity and prejudice, her son Augustus Tolton finally became a priest of God.
