    I didn’t even know that people bought wild pigs!!! I thought that anyone that caught a wild pig would just butcher it themselves and eat what they wanted and maybe have some to friends!!! I’d definitely say that it would be worth getting a big hog trap and after catching so many to pay for the trap the rest would just be pocket change and help to buy the corn for baiting the pig trap up to get them to come in!!! It could definitely be some fun also but here in Iowa we don’t have any wild pigs running around tearing up are ground either!!!! Awesome view and great info also for every one to know that didn’t have any idea about selling wild pigs!!! It is to bad that the prices aren’t still like they used to be because I’m sure more land owners would be catching pigs and selling them to help get the population down so that they don’t end up taking over everything!!! A buddy of mine that I went to school with his mom goes down to Texas probably a half a dozen different times a year and has dogs that are trained to hunt the pigs down!!! She absolutely loves hunting the pigs with her dogs for sure!!! She alarmed raises dogs to hunt the pigs and sells the dogs!!! By raising the dogs for hunting the pigs helps her fund her to be able to go down every month also!!!!

    Like the info but hard to see the value time you buy traps trailer feed two hundred for 7 hogs with an average weekly even at 10 it’s two years before you recover your investment. 50 lb bag corn run from $10 to $17. You would need a holding pen to corn out under weight. You still would be adding to the debt more time and trouble. 90 days to corn one out that’s lots of corn even purchased by the ton. Then trap savvy hogs by the end of 90 days lucky to catch two a week. Not counting escaping or parish 80 hogs in three months maximum $2400 watering feeding daily.

    Many years ago I met a woman in Medina County who rigged up hog cages on her farm trailer. The hogs could climb up a ramp to get in where she seeded the floor with corn. They had to wind around from cage to cage and finally there was another ramp down for them to get out. After training them to eat the corn on the trailer for a week, she was able to shut the cages front and back and simply drive them to the abattoir.

    Welcome to the world of hog trapping!
    I’ve been delivering them alive for a bit now, and realized it alone won’t pay the bills!
    It’s enough to cover the costs or travel and corn, so it’s worth doing.
    In Palo pinto county they are paying .25 a pound for 70-101
    And .35 a pound for 101 and up.
    They were paying $10 a pop for smaller pigs, but that’s changed here recently.
    The trappers are now letting smaller pigs go and creating a bigger pig problem!

    • @alan30189
      @alan30189 5 днів тому +1

      Do some trappers have a place where they can raise the smaller pigs to a perfect size to sell and not lose money in the process, or is it cost prohibitive.
      The guy in the video mentioned a bonus for 200 pounds or more, but didn’t mention if that bonus is still paid, even if it’s less.

    • @BoarTorn
      @BoarTorn 3 дні тому

      @ a guy near me does raise them until they’re of a good size to sell.
      But it’s a big operation that most people don’t have the time or money for.
      I honestly think the state should pay a price per a head for the smaller ones so they don’t get let go

    If you could butcher and package them yourself you could sell them on a website and charge top dollar for “natural and wild grown pork”. People pay good money to have meat shipped straight to them if it’s all raised natural and wild. Many farmers and ranchers are going that way now, and I even know hunters that are hunting for meat you can’t get in a grocery store to sell online. There is good money in it but you HAVE to be able to butcher, package, and ship yourself.
