@@lukerk49 sick, me too, i wonder if i could ask you some questions about the 7m? if i could talk to you on facebook that would be nice. Facebook is same as youtube
you want to apply the lube to the top side of the stud, nut and washer so when you torque the studs you get a more accurate torque. the idea is that you really don't want the stud to rotate while they are being torqued. hope this helps.
Just a couple observations. Plasti gauge needs to be laid across the bearing not in the direction of rotation. I notice that the block and especially the head have been really cut back. Toyota allows 0.010" total deviation from factory specs. When you see a head that has a flat where it should be rounded at the place where the thermostat standpipe connects, it's been cut back a lot. To compensate, you need to measure how much is been removed from the block and the head and replace it with a thicker gasket . In my case I used a 0.020 solid metal shim gasket sprayed on the bottom with Permatex copper and laid it on the block surface then I put a standard Toyota gasket on top of that. No issues after 35K miles and 5 years. Not compensating for the material removed from the head and the block can result in a higher compression ratio and the timing being off.
Looking good. Note that you will have issues with your throttle cable with the na valve covers and the cable bracket if you are using stock intake manifold. The pcv exit tubes are in the way.
I have nothing but praise for these vid's. Thank you (I am a little jealous that you have a friend so skilled) .? How bout red enamel / metal flake to POP those lines on the valve covers?
D really dude thank you man! Its pretty kool to know that people are watching and are appreciating the vids lol. And by the way i had color scheme in mind fron the beginning of the build and i have already done it. Stay tuned for how sweet they came out 😍😍
It all depends on how much torque the drill was set to ... i have an adjustable dewalt impact that will tighten until the bolt stops and wont go anymore. Its like finger tight at level 1
Sorry to say but you will need to remove the manifold again to modify the manifold cuz the oil filter housing will not fit I had to cop and change my manifold
Sean Petersen thank you man! And im not too sure yet, but for sure standalone. There is a couple im looking at that are plug and play. It will all depend on what my local tuner will work with better
Looking good! Hey are you doing the EGR delete? If so, from where? I’m also doing my 7m and thinking of doing the delete but I have no idea where to get it from.
Hey mate, Just got a 7m too on Spain. Just read somewhere that ARP studs are torqueted on more nm, Is that right ?. The Toyota manual i got says 76nm or 58lb. Is that correct value or is the original / wrong spec. Btw, Nice channel i learn one or two thinks here like that think on the timing cover. ill never guessed that for sure.
first of all congrats on your car, and yes people do aftermarket METAL HEAD GASKET from HKS or TITAN or a few others. i have mine torqued down to 90ftlbs
new to this 7m game but are the cylinder heads on gte and ge the same? cause someone is selling a gte block and ik that's different from the ge but idk if I could reuse the ge cylinder head on mine.
the cylinder heads are slightly different. GE has slightly bigger cams on intake side i believe, and also it flows better then the gte head.. so you can use the GE head on the GTE block
@@-LFATV Another question i'll probably be going GTE-T route but what other things would you upgrade or change out from factory? I know the about head gasket changing to metal one. and ARP head studs. but are there anything else I can change to make it more reliable.
max soria no, talves piensas que es un 7mge porque yo use los 7mge covertores de la cavesa. Si te das cuenta los GE tienen “Toyota Twin cam” y los GTE no tienen letras. Pues yo los use simplemente porque me gustaron las letras.

LFATV .. haha no way man. I myself am starting to save up for a mk3 Supra. Been looking at em since i was about 16 and now i can actually afford to start building a car. I want to make around 500hp with the 7mgte. Your videos will be a MASSIVE help. (about to leave for work haha) Cheers.
Well to be honest the mk3 supra was my first love. It was my first car. Back then i didnt work and couldnt do the things i wish im doing to it now. After that came a 93 sc300.. but trust me im not done with my SC. I still have to paint it, add exhaust, and change my tire setup. But other then that thats all thats left to the SC

Good to see you did not forget that sealant on the front lower timing cover between the head gasket. Soo many people forget that step.

looking good. just a note to future builders. headstuds should go in dry on the block side with roughly 5nm of torque applied.
Michael Malloy im not an expert by all means but why would arp provide lubricant if they didn’t recommend to put them on the studs.

is it true you have to machine the timing cover deck too with the block deck?
yessss!!! that is a HUGE part of the decking process with the 7Ms and one of the main issues to what causes the 7m head gaskets to blow
