  • Amazing primitive Fish that live like Crabs under rocks, or in caves in the bank - hard to find, impossible to film, but we got them on camera!!
We went out to catch some Koura (freshwater Crayfish) on our uncles farm, and while we were there, we stumbled on these amazing endangered Kokopu - Native New Zealand freshwater fish. we couldn't believe our luck, so we decided to catch some to show. It was the most amazing day and sick as fish.
We are pretty sure that these are banded Kokopu - let us know if they are not.
These fish need clean flowing streams with generally high banks. The stream on our uncles farm is up a steep incline and so they have to be great swimmers to get to it. We found them hiding under rocks like an eel or crayfish, just amazing primitive fish like something out of the dinosaur age!!!
