Thank you for this video, it was a huge help preparing my husband and I for our first caviar experience and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
I won’t say the best but the most popular top tier Caviar are from Iran and Russia. For let me share where Michelin chef secretly buy their Caviar from which is next level. No one will ever guess it. It is a well kept secret. It Quzhou in China. Super high grade caviar like no other. Try it when you have a chance and you’ll know why top chef hunts Quzhou caviar
Thank you, Johan. When I began my caviar journey, I was very fortunate to taste various caviars and found my favorite from the white sturgeon. After trying them with various fixes, I settled on thin potato toasts with a small bit of creme fraiche and chive tips finished with a deeply chilled very smooth, silky, vodka . I noticed you were careful not to smear it around and mash it into your fixing and crisps. I've seen a lot of that. But I love to build it up, bring the topping into my mouth and take a small nibble of the toast an its edge. I want to taste the chilled buttery firmness of the caviar and then sip the vodka. I love this way!
Thanks for this video. I watched this a few months ago and tried ossetra and Kaluga caviar soon after. Caviar by itself is probably my favorite way to eat because you get to taste it purely. But I found that a lightly salted thin potato chip with creme fraiche may be my favorite accompaniment.
That is so wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing, it makes me so happy to hear. Glad you found “your way” to enjoy caviar. That’s truly the most important thing. 😊
Thank you for posting! Your presentation was beautiful, and I feel I could confidently enjoy a gathering featuring caviar. I look forward to more of your content.
for my dads 70s bday back in April - i ordered us (mom, dad and me) a Caviar service (Michael minas, Bellagio vegas.) i admit - it wasn't what i expected.. was thinks the fish-egg thingies and some crackers.. but they brought out this kind of spread.. and a shot of vodka for each!!!! i had no idea what to do.. Mom and dad either... we'd never really had it before except in a parfait form a couple of times?.. and yea - i asked the maitre d' - "er.. how do we eat this?" guy was so nice, gave us a basic walk though. mom and I loved it - dad thought the blinis were too thick/over powering.
i liked it so much - i've order 2 caviar gift/sampler kits - serval different types - few duplicate types, and - been watching videos on best way to serve - its my parents 51st anniversary so i wanted to do something nice for them. (and yea.. myself as well.. ;) - this video helps explain the "sides" exactly what i was looking for. dapper swede indeed!
I am so glad you found the video helpful. It’s exactly my goal, to demystify caviar, explain the general sides and give you the freedom to enjoy it however you like. Hope you start enjoying caviar, sounds like you and your family have lots to celebrate
Thanks for this video! My husband and I discovered caviar this summer in Europe and we LOVED it. We bought some for Christmas and New Years and it was such a great treat. For new years, I remembered what you said about potato chips, but I have to say for those of us in North America (I'm US-based), Kettle-brand sells an UNSALTED potato chip! I picked a bag in the store today and we're going to try it for new Years Eve! Along with toast, blinis, and latkes! So far our favorite way is unsalted butter on toast points, or straight from the spoon. Looking forward to trying some we are having some kaluga and ossetra. For Christmas we loved the American White Sturgeon caviar very much! Thank you from new caviar lovers!
Oh my goodness, what a feast you are going! How did it turn out. I love the idea of unsalted chips with caviar because the crunch is a wonderful texture with the caviar. I will have to try that. I can say that toast points, butter and caviar is a favorite. Even just soft boiled egg with a dab of caviar is scrumptious. So many ways, I love getting creative and I can tell you do too! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for the video. I have a few questions. Which brands are best to order online? How much to order per person? Lastly, what caviar bowl/utensil sets online do you recommend?
I truly enjoy Caviar. I live in a very small town, aka, the Sticks! I had a wealthy neighbor who owned property about a mile away that may have been under the impression that those of us who lived here full-time were a bit underprivileged. They were part-time residents. She introduced me to Caviar and taught me different ways to eat it. I love it, but my wife hates it so I only get to serve it during the holidays once in a while. I just learned about the spoons though and will be purchasing a couple of nice serving spoons. Thank you for the lesson. I will try it on toast next time!
Thank you for sharing. Caviar can now be ordered online, so even if you don’t have a boutique close by that sells it, you can easily get it and enjoy it!
i'd had it in a parfait at michael minas is vegas, and at a idk.. hidden restaurant called Eculant - in Kemah board walk, Houston.. omg.. i liked it so much.. - when we went to Vegas for my dads 70ws bday back in April - i ordered us a caviar service.. it was so good.. i always thought "ewww.. fish eggs? WTF?!?!" but then i tried it... - if you go to Vegas - Michael minas has a good service. i've heard Eiffle tower has one too.. but couldn't get reservations. (we already had them for Michael minas.. the caviar thing was a total splurge
Thank you for this video, I am 56 and have never tried it...I hope to soon, and the tips and on how to eat it, thank you for this...I hope I like it...😊
Caviar fan here. Just a quibble on the French. 'Crème fraîche' is just whipped cream, so quite sweet and usually reserved for desserts. What you want for caviar is 'Crème épaisse' ot 'Crème aigre', what we call sour cream. The best!
Grazie mille for this most informational video about caviar and how to serve and present it. You are quite the gentleman and very humble, educational, and not snobby in your videos. We come to you to learn! Thank you again. I am a new subscriber!
I love Caviar! My first experience was in Tarain. Had it for breakfast with strawberries and Champaign. Next time it was placed in a bowl on ice, with just blini's and different condiments. I was lucky enough to have had it straight from wild sturgeon, as there was no such thing as farmed sturgeon back then. I was very privileged!
Thank you so much for this video! I will serve this to my wife as a wonderful first course. Just need some mother of pearl spoons, I like the aquatic theme
Hi! Love your channel. My old sef only liked simpler and minimalist decorations but Im starting to enjoy more the beautiful things of life like things more refined. I like your personal taste, it´s very inspiring and fresh! Please, talk about porcelain because i´m fascinated with old plates, tureens, figures, tea cups.
I am so glad you enjoyed the video and found it inspiring Edgar! You are so welcome! I will absolutely put porcelain on my list of possible future topics, my list is growing long and I love suggestions of future topics to cover. 🙏😊
Crème fraîche and sour cream aren’t exactly the same but similar and in many ways could be used in similar fashions. Crème fraîche is thicker and a bit richer, sour cream is a bit tangier.
I love caviar. Thank you for showing the joys of how to enjoy one of life's pleasures. Side note: when I was in the USArmy I would buy caviar to enjoy and introduce friends to new foods. In lieu of any alcohol I found sprite or Sierra mist made a decent pallet cleanser (those guys would fall over the only time I served champaign LOL).
I love this video. Very broad and covers ALL the relevant topics, I also love how after he gives us all that information the tail end of the video is just watching him nom the shit outta his caviar. I'm trying to think of holding some party where I present some caviar lol.
I will put together a night for myself and my adult kids; we will do caviar and vodka sampling - how do you pick the type of caviar? What do you think about my kid's first-time tasters?
Krista, What a lovely idea, I love it! I would say the most important is having fun and not being too worried about making mistakes. If you guys enjoy it, it’s the right way! Second I would say, when it comes to a sampling, focus on maximum 3-4 kinds, any more and it’s hard to distinguish the differences. And I am SURE the vodka tasting will make the evening more fun also. You will have to share how it goes.
There’s no particular reason beyond being a fun and different way to eat caviar. It’s generally called a “caviar bump” and it’s one little dab that’s eaten in one go, as a bump.
I used to be a gardener for a rich person. At Christmas time the gift he gave me was this caviar stuff. I thought it was a joke. But after getting another job, a few years later I looked it up. Ridiculous, that stuff is $3,000 bucks. I mean, I used to smoke expensive Cuban cigars with him.

There’s lots of options of caviar that comes in jars, so that’s for sure an option. And generally I would agree with your point, but caviar is not canned in regular tins. Caviar tins have been been coated on the inside to ensure there’s no reaction between the metal and the caviar.

That looks mouth watering. I wish I could try that one day. The real stuff
The best caviar comes from IRAN and RUSSIA! Two wonderful places worth visiting! I'll accompagny my Beluga-blinis with Beluga Wodka! YAY!

Thank you very much!
Great video, love it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks for the visit, glad you enjoyed the video
Tell us about the potato? Boiled slices?
You’re absolutely correct! Boiled, cooled and sliced. Then use it as you would the blinis
Perfect..
Thank you so much 🙏
Caviar is a revelation.
So delicious
Should the toast/blini/potato be bite size? Like sushi, which is suggested as eaten one whole piece at a time.
Yes, absolutely correct. It’s generally served in bite size as hand passed hors d'oeuvres or seated with drinks.

Mamere loved cavier OMG
I can understand why!
True Caviar aficionados will only eat Caviar by itself. No extras, no egg, no creme fraiche.
I've seen people put just the caviar on the back of their forefinger knuckle. Is there a reason why they would do that?

To me it doesn’t taste “fishy” because caviar has a very different taste than fish to me. But on the other hard, it does have a flavor reminiscent of the sea, so maybe that could be taken as “fishy”.
