  • Bunny chats to Sarah Raven about how she created her garden, her favourite plants, and her tips for making a beautiful garden.
    Sarah Raven burst onto the scene with her book ‘The Cutting Garden’ in 96, and then she designed a Chelsea Garden in 1998. Sarah best known for her bold use of colour has a highly successful business, Sarahraven.com, selling flowers, homeware, plants and of course her books, including her latest ‘A Year Full of Veg.’

    I admire so much that Sarah Raven is totally organic in her gardening practices using homemade compost and a lot of cow manure to control weeds!

    Really enjoyed this interview. Thanks. Really appreciated the breadth & depth of questions and answers from how personal relationships feed into gardens, to ground conditions of the land. Sarah has an intimate understanding of her garden and landscape which was fascinating to hear

      She has been doing a weekly podcast for several years, covering lots of different subjects. You can find the link at the bottom of her web page. Its easy listening, if you want to do something else at the same time.

    Great interview.
    Regarding box caterpillar- my cousin in Germany ‘trained’ her sparrows to eat them. They originally ignored them, but by mixing some caterpillars with mealworms she got them to realise the caterpillars are edible, and her sparrow population has been increasing and getting fat ever since…

      ​@xyzllii The box caterpillars turn into box moths and can destroy the whole plant, eating the leaves and even the bark. The box moths are considered invasive pests. ☹️

      Well they're both pretty successful people aren't they so it's not a huge surprise - and this property is Sarah's business as well as her home. Anyway, what an odd question to ask. You don't go up to people in real life and quiz them on how they afford their home or car or holiday.
