I have some tips that helped me! And this is coming from someone who has dyed her hair for years and it was damaged. I started to invest more into the products I was using in my hair, worth every penny. I quit with drug store products, I only use olaplex products on my hair, started to only wash my hair every 5-6 days, bought silk scrunchies/ hair clips. Use oils on the ends of my hair and leave in conditioners after shower, also use a bamboo hair brush. ❤️

My hair was still a tiny bit damp from washing it. It could have been a combination of the dampness and protectant creating a lot of the steam. 😅 My sister refuses to straighten my hair while also using a comb or brush, thus needing to go over it multiple times. It kinda bothers me, too, tbh. She doesn't always straighten my hair for me, though, thank god lol.
