There's a precision to her answers which is quite endearing. Remember, she was all of 32 years old when this footage was filmed. How many other people can claim to be so collected and knowledgable at that young age! And she also keeps up an air of cheer and good will which is engaging and charming. An amazing woman.

Yes Jackie was young here but you have to remember that at that time age 32, you would have been married 10 years already, as Jackie herself was almost. Jackie certainly came prepared and studied up on her answers, though endearing, yes..she knew how to evade answers too negatively, but always end any slight complaint with a very positive ending. You can see when Jackie is nervous as she blinks often, but quickly regains control. Comments on her voice are funny bc Jackie did this on purpose and measured her responses equally and evenly. She was well aware of any talk about her in the media being... too grand or posh. So she showed herself eager to please, but sure to state she was still learning and didn't know everything. As she knew she had to be relatable and or something women would aspire to be like. She was after all..to the manor born, so to speak, with finishing schools in Switzerland and a very upbringing with all possible opportunities available, even the "required learning" by her mother's insistence that a wealthy background offers...and that most could only dream of. She had the confidence in her but was careful not to over do it and be unreal to women but also be the dedicated wife and mother that men would desire for their own lives too. Very 'politically correct' but also sweet and showing just enough vulnerability. Good for her...she really did have it tough as a child, and through the formative years that even wealth could not make easier. It forced Jackie to be quietly still and quite strong inside. Almost to a point of a form of a survival mode. We know how it ended. I don't think anyone ought to judge another's journey, unless it was a shared one. Thanks Helmer..I've watched this a few times now. Thank you🙏🏻✨🙏🏻

Well stated but sadly in the end it is all an act and nothing but a show. Nothing is real. The truth about First Ladies is that the most important thing they can to is leave their husbands alone while they are having sex with other women and let the President attain an orgasm without listening at the door, the wall or planting a bug. J.F.K. had many women which was encouraged by Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. He felt it would relax his sons and they could perform their remunerative responsibilities better. All of the Kennedy men had sex with as many women as possible. The wives must have worried about venereal diseases. That is stressful and for the wives, quite disgusting! In a family of pigs, phonies and social climbers. Jackie did the best at social climbing. Revered women of high social classes are just high class hookers. Their husbands are shallow, greedy, machiavellian pigs.@@Gigi1111Layna

Altman's was a fine, respectable, middle class department store, solid but not fine. Mrs K did a fine job, reminding folks the WH needed a facelift.

I remember taking a tour of the White House when I was 10 or 11, and thinking it was beautiful. Through her efforts, many of the pieces that had once belonged to other presidents in other times, were donated and returned to the White House, making it very much like the house seen today. It was warm and welcoming, with the fireplaces going in many rooms, and as she had hoped, fresh flowers in many places. It was amazing to a little girl to know that she was looking at a chair, or book, or table that had once belonged to President Washington, or Dolly Madison. Her vision of the White House as the People's house, and a living museum made history come alive for me.

Actually, Jackie did not say that she sent Caroline to a kindergarten in this video. What she said was that she was not looking forward to the time that Caroline would be old enough to have to go to school, because of all of the publicity. This interview was very early on in the Kennedy administration, and obviously before Jackie made the decision to create a school at the White House. Also, the children of high profile people were not the only children who attended the WH school. Gustavo Paredes, son of Jackies’s personnel assistant, Providencia ”Provi” Paredes, attended the school. Provi and Jackie were very close, and Gustavo was friends with Caroline and John, Jr. Provi and Gustavo can be seen in family photos taken at the Kennedy’s Christmas celebration in Palm Beach in 1962. There are also videos online of Gustavo playing with all of the Kennedy children at Hyannis Port - and pictures of Gustavo and John, Jr. when they were both grown. Provi and Gustavo remained friends with Jackie, Caroline and John Jr. until Jackies’s passing in 1994. After JFK’s death, Jackie provided for Gustavo’s education. Jackie also made provisions for Provi her will.

When Jaqueline Beauvoir Kennedy says something like that (or anything really) I stare at the screen, completely mesmerized, helpless to resist her charm and elegance, not caring what she's saying, but thoroughly enjoying every word of it. Besides the accent being required for women of her class at the time, please keep in mind how young she was here: only 32 years old! And she executed an excellent White House makeover that turned the People's House into precisely that, a place filled with furnishings and art from the various presidencies. This became a TV special, as you may know. Jackie was a woman of her time, and as such, she should not be judged by today's standards. No one from the past really should be. Instead, we should look at Jackie within context, and in so doing, we can see that she was really quite something. She didn't come up with a slogan, and then pretend to fulfill it: "just say no;" "keep moving;" etc. Instead, she had a particular skill, and she used it. Something actually got done. Also, she cleverly---and at only 35 years of age--- burned her husband into the country's soul. JFK's funeral was her doing, and she had the smarts to reenact the Lincoln funeral. I was only 6 years old at the time, and I will never forget it. No one who was alive at that time will.

I love Jackie Kennedy. What a smart sophisticated beautiful charming woman she was. As a 12 year old girl I remember watching her walk behind her husbands' coffin. And her young son saluting it as it went by. She held a stunned and heartbroken nation together with her strength and grace. She was only 33 years old at the time. She'd been through so much in those few days. Thank you Jackie. You made us proud! And I thought Natalie Portman did an amazing job...
