    Thanks for being honest about OTC inserts. Many years ago I had several bouts of plantar fasciitis and finally scheduled a dr appt. Before the appt I got a pair of Powerstep Pinnacle inserts. I showed them to the dr and he was impressed saying they were probably as good as something he could make for me. Sure enough the condition cleared up and has not come back. That was probably close to 20 years ago.

      Wow amazing, they can definitely be worth trying. The medical industry is not doing itself favors by not helping people with simpler solutions. This is such a secret, literally every day people with chronic disability/pain, deformity see me and these simple solutions almost fully relieve their symptoms whereas numerous surgeries did not. But no one was even willing to try!

    I got a custom made orthodics from a podiatrist 3 weeks ago. Feet, calves and knees are very painful wearing them. I wore them a few hours a day and gradually built up to wearing them all day at work. I'm in construction and wear work boots. How long will it take for the pain to subside?

    Hi Dac, have a 5th met fracture, like a mix of zone 1 and 2. About 3/4 crack. I've walking on my hill for 3 weeks now. On the 1st week ive used a high cut safety shoes with a very soft cushioning. And now just wearing slippers, again putting weight on my hill.the pain and swelling has subside but it will still hurt if i try to walk normally. Question is do i still need the moon boot, does it helps in the healing or just alleviate the pain while walking?

    Orthotics will not fix bone on bone knee or hip pain

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  11 місяців тому +1

      No one is claiming that new cartilage will grow, but are you saying being more aligned, strong muscles, stronger ligaments won't help?

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  11 місяців тому

      Another way to ask: what is better, a smooth metal knee (which still crooked with weak and unaligned muscles) or strong muscles, strong ligaments and better alignment everywhere else?

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  11 місяців тому +1

      Some people never try this because of the false idea that they have to fix everything all at once or nothing at all. I have seen 100s of patients get knee replacements and still not be able to walk, and I have seen 100s of patients "too sick" for a knee replacement get nearly full relief of their symptoms by improving their muscle strength, their flexibility, posture and more.

      Read the story of David Goggins (you can't hurt me book), where he was talked into having a knee resurfacing surgery as an athlete and it ruined his running career.

      Again this is not meant as a critique, but some people buy into the myth that a big surgery fixes everything, but while it is a useful tool, in my opinion it is frequently not the best tool.
