You can see how he doesn't really throw moves, he seems to just breath and at the same time an elbow or leg or knee is flying at you . There is such a nonchalant feeling he gives as he is trying to knock you into next week. It is like he is on auto pilot and the next move is already on the way before he finishes the previous one if that makes any sense. Poetry in violent motion. His Eyes are scary when he's visualizing his shadow opponent, so intense
This video got me back to MuayThai 2 years ago, got myself back into the ring, lost that fight but learned so much about myself, now getting ready for the next one 🙏
Who the hell gave this mastrclass a thumbs down! Are they blind? Did they mis click and actually hate muay thai? Anyone with an appreciation for striking would recognise a master at work! Peace.
As someone still waiting a few more weeks to come out of lockdown, the Yodkhunpon Patreon video was definitely my favorite. It was particularly nice to have it validate my intuitive choice to do shadoboxing full-force.
Thankyou for your time and effort making and commenting on this video. Good to really get to breakdown how a legend fights and the importance of good shadow boxing.
I think of my childhood and random stuff around the room its incredibly hard for me to imagine an opponent when i do they dissapear in 5 seconds and i have to imagine a different one or nothing till i see it again
Your amazing Sylvia, want to be like you someday I want to meet greats too ! I mean what an amazing experience seeing it in real life ! Your like the older sister I wish I had
Hi Sylvie, does Yodkhunpon suggests to incorporate other particular exercises in training alongside long shadow sessions? Strict push ups and sits ups like Sagat does for example, or planks and squats like you used to do in your "at home" workouts. Both of you are an inspiration for me, Muay Thai and (meditative) shadow are what keep me going through dark times. Thank You!
I always thought of "shadow link" so you would battle "shadow sylvie" just as, fast , strong, smart, as you knows all your moves/tendencies/weaknesses if you struggle 100% you can draw. Its a fight you v.s. you..... FIght!
2:01 It's always weird how different people shadow box, in boxing some coaches have told me shadow boxing should always be light punches. and others say do it hard, like Yodkhunpon is saying.
So hard shadowboxing and 6-10 rounds - quite unusual and thanks for all this awesome content in general. Hard and no contact feels weird though - also if you intend to train hard against pads or the heavy bag afterwards and then still want to spar. But yeah, Yoddkhunpon is a legend obviously and his moves are beautiful and effective. Due to a momentary lack of training partners I *trained with/against a bigger tree* this week and it made a big difference for how my roundhouse kicks felt: I was not even sure if I could throw mid- and high kicks properly when shadow boxing (I took a long break from training). But against the tree - just lightly tapping it with my lower shins (I was also wearing running shoes which protected my feet) - felt so much better and it also made me realize that the angles of my kicks were alright overall. Hitting/touching a target gives you/me a much better feeling/feedback how you executed the technique imo; it is also more satisfying. Moving around the tree was also pretty good. Overall, a good mix between heavy bag training and shadowboxing that also forces you to control your attacks very well. Maybe give it a try (if you have no other options), but don't hurt yourselves (or the tree).
hi, you mentioned that shadowboxing should be thrown with full force? I noticed however that punching full force tends to hyperextend and hurt my elbows... should I be stopping right before full extension while still using full force? Thank you!
Heeeey Sylvie, would you recommend doing set Combo's/set patterns for shadow Boxing. Or, to use your imagination and go with what comes naturally? Thanks for any advice. Love your videos!
If you are nee to shadowboxing, use set combos just to keep continuity. As you get better and you can visualize an opponent, stop doing combos and free flow.
@@8limbsUs Thanks Sylvie, I have done Kicboxing for some time. But new to Muay Thai. They're very similar, but very different. If that makes any sense at all! Hahaa.

Awesome content, crucial for every serious Muay Thai instructor, practitioner or athlete. As usual.
Thank you so much, Sylvie.
Terrific topic choice, there's alot of different styles of shadowboxing. Thanks for preserving the lineage Silvie! :)

Your channel is a well of knowledge, love it! Great work and thank you for putting the time in for everyone else.
Thank you all Sylvie!❤️🙏
LOL I'm super guilty of not focusing on an opponent when shadowboxing. I stare into space like a goober.
I think of my childhood and random stuff around the room its incredibly hard for me to imagine an opponent when i do they dissapear in 5 seconds and i have to imagine a different one or nothing till i see it again
