So glad you took a deep dive into the Badfinger catalog. Criminally underrated, this song should have received tons of airplay and been a monster hit. I feel it is their “Hey Jude”! The whole story of this band is incredibly tragic. Immense talent that was just wasted.
Thanks for requesting this Tim! I am a huge fan of Badfinger and I am saddened by their tragic story. I love what they left to us in the short time they had. Nice reaction from Harri 🌺✌️
From the 1971 album "Straight Up", this is a beautiful production by Badfinger. Although being very Beatle like, it does have their standard beautiful vocals and instrumentation that has produced many great tunes. George Harrison wanted to remix this song for a new album, but it was cancelled due to input from Phil Spector and appeared on Straight Up. Later George did start to help on the next album but had to leave for The Concert For Bangladesh and Todd Rundgren came in to finish the album with them. Such a sad story of a great band. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Tim. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Pete Ham was an amazing talent. The entire "Wish You Were Here" album is, I feel, their most consistent and strongest. That it was barely released at the time due to record company legalities is tragic. Should have kept their magic continuing. You're right about no searing guitar, as it's a piano-based song. A solo would have changed the mood too much. They didn't need Harrison -- Ham could play a mean slide, too.
Love Badfinger, but only really know their hits .. Thanks Harri, for reacting to this one, which I don't think I've heard before .. It was beautiful .. Cheers, Wayne
Love this group. Badfinger were a Welsh rock band from the 60's-80's. They became the first group signed by the Beatles' Apple label. Paul & George wrote & produced a few songs for them. They had some really big hits such as "Come & Get It", "No Matter What", "Day After Day", "Baby Blue" & "Without You". This group had quite a sad history. The band had bad mismanagement & lost most of their money, two members committed suicide & one died of a brain aneurysm.
Beautiful song, and I really love the alternate version of this that is more up-tempo and with strings. It should be on the same CD as a bonus track. You should check it out!
Who knows what Pete Ham originally had in mind for this song (guitar wise). It was mixed and remixed under 3 different producers, but his lyrics and vocals survived intact.
It's a great song. The entire album is a gem. The long-awaited re-release of this album came with some bonus tracks. An alternate version of this song was one of them. I like the addition of horns and strings. ua-cam.com/video/fsV_zDdET3w/v-deo.html

@@tomcollens4621 What are you talking about ? .. Mike Gibbins is the one on the lower right ( Joey Molland is on the far left ), and he did not kill himself .. He died of a brain aneurysm in his sleep.
This song is interesting. According to the yogic sciences by Ssdhguru, a person who has a Caesarian birth has some spiritual linkages,,. We lost a wonderful talent, when Stan Polley ( That soul -less rat bastard), drove Pete to suicide. Sadly a few years later, Tom Evans would do the same as Pete. Terrible tragedies.

So many great songs from BADFINGER, such an under-rated and under-played band

Pete Ham has such a warm voice. This whole album is excellent all the way around.

On of my favorite bands! Thank you for highlighting them❤
How many 22 year olds can write a song of this caliber. He wrote this 5 or 6 years before his death

Love, love the song ❤❤❤ Thank you Harri 🤩💯🥰
"Take it All" is a great song from them.

There's an earlier version of the song.

Me too. Also, the breaks between lines are shorter.
@@RockinAllDay Mike's drumming on that version is superb, too. especially towards the end of the song.
Harri,
Perfection is the next track you should listen to, you will get a guitar solo then..
Same album 🍻
Yes indeed Harri! That song really would have been served well with a lead guitar section. 👍
Yep. just to top it off........
I always get a little sad when I listen to them, such tragedy and heartbreak 💔 😢😊

3 of them died by suicide. Joey Molland (lower right) is the
lone survivor. Great band!!

Pete Ham would have been one of the best rock voices and lyricist had he lived, so sad how their manager effed them.
