Excellent instructions, especially if you are new or fairly new to quilting. Totally agree about pressing seams open, would shorten my stitch length to help.
you and strip piecing were buried about 5 1/2 hours into searching under strip piecing...still not 100% of what I wanted to find...but close enough. my mom showed me this strip that had every other strip 1" indented the other-2nd strip 1" in, 3rd 2" in, 4th 3"in, etc. do you know what these other 2 styles are used for ? id like to know again. thanks
I'm starting my very first quilt!! And I was wondering which type of quilt would be best as my first one? I'm very much a beginner, and have a kit that I bought not realizing it was for an intermediate sewer. Lol! So...I wanted to use the fabric that came with that kit. It was the Night Stars by a Craftsy designer. Would you help me decide on an easy first quilt? I'd really appreciate it! 😄👍
Hi Elle, something like the postage stamp quilt block in this episode would be great for a beginner. Any design that consists of squares and rectangles is a wonderful place to start and will help you perfect techniques like accurate cutting, accurate 1/4" seam allowances and more that you can build upon with future quilts.
just okay - please pin or clip your bangs up - it's annoying to see so much hair fussing in a tutorial (12+ times in a 12+ minute video). Also I would call the sets 'strips' not blocks - sort of confusing...the finished result using the 'strips' of squares is a 'block'. tfs
Well, I found this lovely girl informative, speaking quite clearly which is perfect for a beginner quilter! Loved this presentation. Thank you!
Thanks for your tutorials. Happy Teacher's Day.
Fabulous tips, Katy. Thank you!
Thanks for your tutorials and Happy New Year.
So happy to find your videos, Katy! We met many moons ago at Sewing Summit, very nice seeing you again :)
I just love your show

My first was a 9 patch with 5 inch squares. Then did a rail fence. I would suggest a rail fence. It is by far the easist ive done
Look up midnight quilt show and maybe look at town square 4 patch variation or modern railfence
Can you get the sushi rolls in the uk please - can't seem to find anywhere.
+skipbj You've probably found then by now but in the uk there called jelly roll
can't find the lecien ones
Too little information in such a long time.
thank you, but why sooooo much talking?
Thought this tutorial was going to send me over the edge. What was all the talking and fusing with fabric and her hair about.
Did 2x speed but really wanted her to pin her hair back, the constant tucking behind her ear was too distracting for me.
Wow! Just found this tutorial.....TOOOOOO MUCH TALKING!
Please Think it people but you don’t have to mention it. Your better than that! Right?
