"While an exhaustive study is not the preserve of this video..."
Could have fooled me.
I just want to say that when this series began I was idling away in a tolerable, but unfulfilling retail job. This channel and series genuinely inspired me to chase my passions and I'm now studying history at university.
I dont know where this chapter if my life will take me, but I have to take the opportunity to thank you BML and other channels that are so passionate about the subjects they cover. Your example means a lot!
👍
Very humbling for you to say so... Best of luck with your studies!
Thank you for all your hard work and tremendous efforts in producing this unique series. You do honour to the men who fought in this terrible engagement by bringing awareness through your videos to their service and sacrifice.
How is this comment two days old?
Video only got posted two hours ago?
Thank you Ewan!
This is why I watch Rob, the way he meshes firearms and military history together is amazing. He gives you historical reference and value of that specific firearm in a history lecture setting. Awesome!. I’m a military history and firearm guy myself so I’m getting the best of both worlds here, at the same time. Subscriber for LIFE. Thanks Rob!
Very kind. Thank you!
As someone who knows a little bit about video editing I must say that you've stepped it up considerably. The cut scenes, use of graphic inserts, GIS level tactical analysis, musketry demonstrations, resources and personal investment to splice it all together is no small feat. Maple Leaf Up indeed. Outstanding
Very kind Richard. It's been a long journey, and I'm happy I've finally been able to complete it! Cheers.
Yep! This video is a pretty accurate representation of what will happen on tomorrow's Antropology exam. Wish me luck, gentlemen
Haha! Best of luck! Don't get stuck on the Inkerman Tusk!
@@britishmuzzleloaders thanks, sir. Went quite well, I reckon!
Edit: I Passed!!!
That was GREAT!
Well done. The quality of your storytelling is a credit to your dedication. It's wonderful that your labor of love has produced such an outstanding documentary series.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
It is really interesting how there are so many elements of the battle that were indicators of things to come. From the smaller infantry formation tactics, trench warfare, and dominance of rifle fire. This was a pivotal battle and you've done such a great job summarizing it.
It really is a fascinating battle to study...
Awesome video! Far better than anything the History Channel ever put out.
Very kind.
Thank you.
Battles are not pleasant but your telling of it is.
The is a very well put statement. Thank you.
Glad to see you finally finish this, what may be so far your magnus opus. This was an amazing series from an era I still wouldn't know much about without your channel.
I very much enjoyed the in-depth analysis that goes well into the conditions of the men, the ground, and really explaining the situation, both in how it was, and how the commanders would have perceived it.
Thank you kindly! It was a very rewarding project.
I waited and waited and finally it came. Thank you for the work you put into this series and the entire channel. Thanks to this channel, I fell in love with P53 and P58 and I am rediscovering the history of Victorian Europe from a slightly different perspective than just my own country. (Poland)
Nice! Thank you!
I still grin at the descriptions of Pennefather - he must've been quite a character!
Indeed!
1 hell of a history video👍👍
Cheers!
My long awaited BML Climax of Battle!
Indeed!
This has been a marvelous piece of work. Thank you for your effort and time.
Most welcome!
Huzzah huzzah
Excellent informative quality content as always
Thank you dapper fellow for the hard work you and others have taken decades of research all culminating in this set of videos
Bestest from Scotland 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Excellent work, the video editing is fantastic. The key element that should receive the highest regard is the story of this epic battle. Thank you for this gem.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers.
Excellent! And thanks for your recent SMLE magazine help. New spring has landed in the post and shows that my original follower was indeed bent and twisted.
Glad it all worked out!
Thanks for completing your excellent series on this battle. Amazing that the videos span three years. I have read some accounts of Inkerman but seeing it presented like this makes everything much clearer and easier to follow.
As well as the other lasting tributes and memorials to the Crimean War that were mentioned, there are multiple uses of Inkerman, Alma and Malakoff for roads and place names in the UK and France.
Very kind! Thank you.
Rob, am totally impressed with your presentation of this battle!
That is very kind of you to say. Glad you enjoyed it!
The Best Video you’ve made so far. Great work Rob.
Happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 love your work and this series has been awesome! Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Very kind.
I’ve never seen the Crimean War depicted this way. Or a docuseries navigating and depicting a battle in general in this format. I was deeply invested and came out in the end very informed and entertained. Strategy, formations, units, men, terrain, and story -incredible depiction.
That is very kind of you to say. Very happy that you enjoyed it!
Excellent video and very well done! Thank you! Regards from the Left Coast of Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you!
The most belated Christmas present I've ever received. 🎄
Haha! Hopefully you enjoyed it!
Great work Rob, Love to see the 63rd West Suffolk Foot in there last battle before being merged with the 95th foot.
So many regiments that no longer exist!
Simply splendid. Now I have a grasp of what happened at the battle of Inkerman.
Such a convoluted and confusing battle... there's a reason the series took so long!... 😀
@@britishmuzzleloaders No other way to convey the chaotic, savage violence of linear warfare broken bad.
Love the content, makes me proud to be a canadian
Cheers!
I really appreciate the maps and showing the positions of the different forces. It helps to understand a battle other than just hearing a description!
Great! Cheers!
Thank you for all the work you did on this 5 part series. It was very interesting. Huzzah!
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
I know it’s just a piece of cardboard but my heart skipped a beat seeing you swing that P51 around like a bat at 12:43 haha
Haha! That's why I allowed myself to replicate the anecdote.... no way if it were steel or something heavy!
Impressive and informative summary of this Crimean War action.
Thank you!
A fantastic end to a brilliant series! Thank you for all the hard work to bring this history to life!
Very kind.
Some of the best content on UA-cam. Or anywhere, for that matter.
That is very kind. Thank you!
Wow ! A great presentation Sir ! Bravo ! Well Done !
Glad you liked it! Cheers!
Rob, to the rescue !!!!!!!!!!!
Capt. Brett Gibbons from papercartridges said, he wondered how unprecise the baker was !
How dare he ?!?!?!?
I suggesst, in the pursuit of saving the honour of the empire, to throw down the gauntlet !
Haha!
Thank you for making these videos, they're much appreciated
You're welcome !
Outstanding work!! Thank you, Sir!!
You are most welcome!
There is of course one other 'memorial' worth mentioning. Still to be seen in Wollo province in Ethiopia is 'Sebastopol', an enormous mortar cast by the Emperor Tewodros as part of his artillery park. It was named in honour of the war and the importance of artillery there. The gun was abandoned by the Emperor's army as it marched to its last stand at the fortress of Magdala, being pursued by the forces of General Robert Napier during the British Ethiopian war of 1868. Interestingly that was introduced another new firearm, just as the Crimean saw the P51. The snider was used first in combat at Magdala with devastating effect. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastopol_(mortar)
Interesting!
Bravo!!!!!! Long awaited and never to disappoint.
Cheers!
Absolutely fantastic effort thankyou!!
You're very welcome!

I was going to get to it at some point! Haha!
Your green screen effects are amazing. I love your battle simulations the most.
"Hobby-Grade" is what I like to call them... 😀
Epic conclusion thank you for all your hard work

The effort that goes into this is nothing short of insane, well done sir!
Won't lie... The series has been an epic journey in hobby-grade video production!
I can’t recall any of these it’s been so long well I’ll see if I can find the time to rewatch. Thanks for your dedication Rob.
Hopefully the "marathon" was enjoyable!
This video is tremendous. This must have taken a ton of work. Thanks 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well this is a blast from the past in more ways than one :)
Tell me about it. 😀
0:30 Get him, GET HIM!
Haha!
Amazing, incroyable.

Sterling presentation in so many aspects, as we've come to expect.
Thank you!
Good use of “ current unpleasantness”.. Great Video.
Thank you!
Yes, this was so good, I've been looking forward to it! Thank you for all your effort with these history documentaries.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The P51 and other such arms in the ACW that started 6 years after this. There have also been many board games based this war.
Yes.
I saw your new video after a long time. Thanks for the new video
Welcome.
Hooray for part five!!!
Hopefully you enjoyed it!
@@britishmuzzleloaders I sure did
great job
Thank you.
Great video!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Well Done Sir
Thank you!
Bravo sir!
Cheers!
Excellent video. Perhaps a part 6, or appendix, can be made with you interviewing a historian of the battle or war. I enjoyed the end of your Zulu War interview/conversation. Keep up the good work, and God bless you, Rob.
Have a few ideas in mind, yes...
You need to go more in depth on more battles like this I enjoyed this series very much
Glad to hear you enjoyed the series! Cheers!
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY United States of America and the history of the British empire
Hello!
Hi my friend
It's been a tick or two since last you were deep in the Inkerman campaign. Good to see that bloody groundhog hasn't put you off. what with six more weeks of winter and all. o~0
Cheers! It's been a epic journey, for sure.
Great series! Might be prudent to put links of prior parts in description and/or create a playlist, as UA-cam's inability to serve up multi-part series of videos is impressive.
Playlist link in the description!
I know you put a lot of hard work into this series and it shows.
Absolutely amazing
Thank you!
The Wesford - Parker Memorial. It's the only monument to this insanity on the entire North American continent.
Yes.
I was just watching a documentary on the battle for Sevastopol.
Nice!
Hello from the Crimea! 🇷🇺
Hello.
You know what? I think you should talk more about the people who ended up using british muzzleloaders. Who joined the army, for what reasons and into what units did they filter during these various times?
Mmmmm,.... it certainly has some merit to be included when applicable, but this is an Historical Shooting Channel after all... The Social History of the British and Empire Armies isn't really the preserve of the Channel....
Always count on the Guards. Batted tied and bloody, but still unbroken.
As were most of the battalions... The battle is a fascinating study in cohesion and fighting spirit, for sure.
Well I guess we have to find and review a British 18 pounder now. They sound awesome.
Just a great, big cannon.... Searching for "18 Pounder" will not get you anywhere with this one... Lot's of Great War examples, mind....
@@britishmuzzleloaders Yeah the Brits reused the pounder definitions over and over. But if I change my search to "18 pounder cannon crimean war" some interesting hits come up.
Come to HoldFast: Nation at War, Napoleonic war game, all the weapons of this era are there. On foot, on horseback, with cannon, bayonet, sword, etc.
You can be a sniper with a Baker!!
Kilt possible.
We will experience all the adventures of Britishmuzzleloaders...
Haha! But no Minie Rifles....
Sure only Napoleonic war and ww1, War of Rights is a game about the Civil War, but I haven't tried it, it looks well made.@@britishmuzzleloaders
great job on this series where do you get your targets
I make them with a program called "SplitPrint"
And just a few years later the largest and most well armed armies in all of human history would maul each other across an entire continent in a war so savage the scars from it have not faded over a century later. The writing was on the wall, and anyone who claims WW1 took the fighting sides by surprise wasn't paying attention to that "colonial skirmish" on the far side of the world.
Colonial skirmish?.... The Crimea?.... 😀
Will you create a combined video that puts all parts together?
No, probably not.
My previous comment and some others have disappeared?
How is the oldest comment from two days ago when the video is two hours old?
Anyway, outstanding work.
You are a marvel.
Was that made on the video posted on Patreon?... Because I had to re-upload it... Cheers.
I want a P51 myself now SO badly! Far as I know The Rifle Shoppe is my only potential chance to get one and other rare arms.. But I am still a little in the dark how the site works but with an email they gave me a better idea; still I hope for some advice, so I can get one of my own, even if I must piece it together.
Not just "piecing it together" but you'll have to do a fair amount of inletting and fitting... See the "Baker FAQ" video.
@@britishmuzzleloaders I may have someone who is skilled in such crafts, I have some skills and knowledge from Woodshop in school but no tools or supplies to do it myself. Maybe with more time and money I may commit to buying what I need to get me my own.
God Save the King
Well, Queen at this time.... 😀
95th WE ARE THE NAILS!
Your username betrays you.... 😆
I have a question for Lee Enfield enthusiasts. Is there a Lee Enfield Mk IV type in 308 NATO?
The Lee-Enfield by Skennerton is the go to....
It must be hard doing videos when they have you pinned down all the time!
Haha!
:)
👍
Today rifle companies have a rally cry. One chosen word that indicates that you are stop tactical movement and advance as one with fixed bayonets.
Is it “Charge!”…..?
This isn’t really relevant to the video but what is the purpose of the ram rod on the martini henry?
It's not a ramrod... it's a Cleaning (and clearing) Rod. There is a video(s) on preliminary training in the Martini era that describes its use.
Where does a man find a bear skin Beefeater bonnet?
Three mutually exclusive things, those. 😀..... It is a bearskin, but it's actually a cap. The Beefeaters don't wear bearskins they wear flat Tudor hats and only the Jocks wear bonnets!... Haha! But, I secured the use of it from a friend....
@@britishmuzzleloaders Haha. I figured that would trigger (pun intended) a response! Like nails on a chalkboard for you.
