This is why we love reactions. On a similar subject (movie reactions) it's when WE know what is going to happen and the reactor doesn't, so it's cool to see that 'brand-new, first time experience' which reminds us of how we felt, way back when.
1976…This is the First Zepplin song I ever heard swimming at Lake Elenor at age 13 I asked my friend who put it on, “ Who IS this!??” My life was never the same since ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the shout out mate. Glad you dug it, it's a dirty little belter this one eh! Rock and blues wrapped into a taco made of black leather, sweat and LSD.
This was written largely by John Paul Jones, because, as he said, 'he wanted to write a long rambling blues riff' having heard some previously. This just turns corner after corner. While recording it at Headley Grange for LZ IV [ or four symbols, or whatever you like], when it came to the extended sections, Bonzo apparently threw his sticks across the room. Jones & Page apparently reassured him that if he just kept it 4/4, they would meet him at the other side .......
Absolutely brilliant reaction yet again. Maybe this is why my parents didn't want me listing to "this kind of music" back in the day. But it tasted so much sweeter because of the ban. Keep going, you still have a lot of great sounds to come👍👍👍
When you said, “it doesn’t fit, but it does”…you were right on the mark. Bonham the drummer, and JPJ the bassist, are laying down a very strong rhythm in a particular meter (which I cannot recall)…. Whereas Jimmy is playing over it in a Completely different meter. The two rhythms join up every twelve bars or so. JPJ thought of this. It sounds like they’re losing it and it’s chaos, but it’s exactly what they want. And yeah….genius…and not easy to do.
Yup, the time signature was 4/4 (sometimes 2/4) but they couldn't figure out a turnaround. Bonham figured out if he played 4/4 while the bass/lead played 5/4 they would sync up in 20 beats and they didn't need a turnaround. It's called 5 over 4. It's very difficult to play even for advanced musicians.
@@ThatGuy-cb3yv Yes, there's a video on the timing aspects of some of their songs. Quite the innovators, even in an era of great innovation they stood out.
The stop-start pattern of this song was inspired by, believe it or not, Fleetwood Mac! Before they were masters of pop and soft rock, they were blues legends under the helm of Peter Green. Their single Oh Well was an inspiration behind Black Dog. Black Dog's title was inspired by a, well, black dog that hung around the band during their time at Headley Grange
Loving the Led Zeppy Mondays, always a great start to the week. As soon as I saw that you were reacting to Black Dog, I knew you were going to be crazy for it. Thankfully there are so many fantastic tracks from Zeppelin, so we've got a lot of Mondays still to look forward to. Great job Mark, best reaction channel on UA-cam ✌️
Zeppelin has always been my favorite band to the extent that my username on some sites is Zeppgirl. And this is my favorite Zeppelin song. I found your channel weeks ago through your Tom Macdonald reactions. Led Zeppelin is also his favorite band. That's why he has "No Quarter" tattooed under his eye. Thanks for your reaction and for going the extra mile to make sure you had vids to post while on vacation. I hope you're having fun!
Omg soooo many wild/high/ dancing in the headlights of some boys car I had no business with, nights! And that was late 80s and early 90s..it is a forever song!
There’s no way this is your 1st time hearing Black Dog… right?!?! I’m born & raised in Louisiana and my dad brought my brother and I up on this stuff! Zeppelin, The Beatles, the doors, iron butterfly etc.. I’ve always loved the opening line of this song so much! Saw you do 1 reaction on youtube shorts and idk how you even ended up in my feed but I immediately subscribed and went straight to your page! Your excitement rubbed off on me! 🤘🏻
What is that? That is Jimmy Page on the guitar!! John Bohnam on the drums!! Robert Plant singing his heart out!! John Paul Jones slaying the bass!! I miss this kind of music!
It doesn’t go. But it goes! Perfectly stated. Dazed and confused solo is like that. Just when you think he’s gone off the rails, he brings it all back and ties it up with a pretty bow. Amazing. Great reaction.
I don't think I have seen any reactor enjoy the music the way you do...I love it!!! Keeps me smiling!!! Think you would like "Houses of the Holy"....& "Trampled Under Foot"...seriously though, you really can't go wrong with any of their songs....but these just popped in my head.
Best reactor I've ever subbed to. Other great Zep songs Kashmir, Misty Mountain Hop, and Trampled Underfoot among many others. Also, it occurred to me... I don't think you've reacted to Eric Clapton yet. He replaced this guitarist on his original band The Yardbirds and became a top 10 best guitarist ever himself. I suggest the original 1970 song Layla by Derek and the Domino's. His guitar solos will blow your mind out of your skull.
Hahahahahah 😂 I love it! You're like me when I first heard this song years ago. I didn't know what was going on, my mind was blown and I couldn't get enough of it. It's always a good time watching your reactions.
That song was my first introduction to Zeppelin, I was 13 when this came out and then I discovered the rest, you already know this entire album is a rare perfect album.
I learned this on drums with sheet music and the drums are insane. You have to play with intensity to get it to sound right. Loud and proud. Believe it or not, with the right counting you can just count right through the measures with all the stuff flying all around and you come in right on time. He’s rock steady so the guitar can lay all the syncopated riffs on top.
I'm flashing back........16 year old hippy chick, bell bottom jeans, crop top, long hair with a rawhide headband...sitting in the park listening to this Zep tune tokin' on a joint. I am 69 years old and still love their music. Have 3 of their CDs in my car stereo.
Matk never regret being an adult when you're discovering this great music, I think it means you can appreciate it on a level, I could not as a young lad of around 4 or 5 years old when my older sister listened to this great music with me, as grateful as I am to her and my elder brother listening to Bowie when I was a toddler too I wish I'd first heard them at an age I could appreciate them fully.
I love your reactions, and I think you're ready for Meatloaf, Paradiso by the dashboard light. It's a little tune sung by an older couple remembering when they got engaged
Your next stop should be the Rain Song, which has to be preceded by The Song Remains The Same. Plant said that this was his best ever live performance. Heartbreaker is also epic in terms of guitar and vocals and the first time a solo was played without any other instruments backing it.
Awesome classic song 🎶 from Led Zeppelin! It’s a very cool song to listen to. Thank so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#ledzeppelin
Awesome reaction!, 😄 I Knew you would f^&*"%ng love it!, many tunes of the 70's are like this, ups and downs 😵💫 I highly recommend a reaction to very underrated guitarist 🎸Robin Trower "Too Rolling Stoned" or "Day of the eagle" 🦅 Thank you! Peace! ☮
You say on one hand it doesn't match and yet the guitar solor does...That's why they are Led Zeppelin and no one else is. It's why so many have tried to copy them and always come up short. This is why 50 years on Led Zeppelin is still a monster.
Our Australian legend John Farnham has done the cover of this Led Zeppelin album Black Dog and to me and everyone that has listened to it says it is just as good or better. I’m leaning on the side of John smashed it. Recommend highly you check it out.❤
Hello my friend. Eamonn here from Ireland. Would you like to jump around for fun. I have a rap song for you. It’s called jump around by a rap band called house of pain. It came out in around 1993 or 1994. . You may already know the rap song. But if I go to a bar or disco bar this song would come up. It’s LEGEND. It never gets old. In ten years from now I know for sure this rap song with still be playing in bars. Maybe you could look it up. House of pain and it’s called jump around. It’s a fucking amazing song. Enjoy your week my friend and I’m always keeping an eye on your channel to see what you have next for us. Cheers man. 🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️✌️✌️✌️
I can't wait until you get into some more Al Green Call me Here I am baby Let's stay together (extended version) I'm still in love So beautiful Just to name a few😁
Really digging your reactions! It's probably time you went down the Yes rabbit hole! Try their song Roundabout first. It might be too much for you but you seem to enjoy that hahaha. Keep up the great work Cheers Harro 😁🤘

ABSOLUTELY 💯 EXACTLY HOW I FEEL
this song is what peak my Led addiction when I was 16 fucken loved it
This is the definition of rock n roll. It doesn’t get much better.
I think of it as Rock without the Roll. But it doesn’t get better!
Unless of course you listen to the song "rock and roll" by Led Zeppelin
Lol lol, true!
But don't you think Robert is spitting rhymes like the best of hip hop?
1976…This is the First Zepplin song I ever heard swimming at Lake Elenor at age 13 I asked my friend who put it on, “ Who IS this!??” My life was never the same since ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wow first time I've heard that!
It’s a shame there will never be music like this again.
Truer words have never been spoken, or in this case, written..
Absolutely brilliant reaction yet again.
Maybe this is why my parents didn't want me listing to "this kind of music" back in the day.
But it tasted so much sweeter because of the ban.
Keep going, you still have a lot of great sounds to come👍👍👍
This is as Led Zepellin as Led Zepellin gets. Craziest riff ever, with the weirdest time signature ever.
When you said, “it doesn’t fit, but it does”…you were right on the mark. Bonham the drummer, and JPJ the bassist, are laying down a very strong rhythm in a particular meter (which I cannot recall)…. @@ThatGuy-cb3yv thank you!
Absolutely right!
@@ThatGuy-cb3yv Yes, there's a video on the timing aspects of some of their songs. Quite the innovators, even in an era of great innovation they stood out.
🙌🙌🙌🙌 Let's get the Led out!!!!!!!!! Gooooooooo!

Peter Greene = LEGEND!!!
Didn't realise the inspiration for Black Dog was Oh well, but now I know, I realise that it's a very similar format 👍
I love Oh Well. Tried to learn it on the guitar. Also the song Hypnotized. Good story. I hadn’t ever heard that.
Oh Well is one hell of a track. In my opinion it’s way underrated.
One vote here for Oh Well with Mr Green on lead guitar, or Green Manalishi
They are still my favorite band of all time!!!!!!!!!! Page, Plant, Jones, and Bonham together equal geniuses.
Absolutely...I couldn't love them more!!
The greatest band of all time PERIOD! I wore out 3 of their albums back in the day because I played them so much. Epic reaction!♥
Loving the Led Zeppy Mondays, always a great start to the week. As soon as I saw that you were reacting to Black Dog, I knew you were going to be crazy for it. FOCUS : HOCUSPOCUS (Live, Midnight Special 1973) 👍🙃🖖
WATCHING THEM LIVE IS SO AWESOME !
I saw em in 73
Omg soooo many wild/high/ dancing in the headlights of some boys car I had no business with, nights! And that was late 80s and early 90s..it is a forever song!
The greatest rock group to ever do it..period
This song is my introduction to Led Zeppelin. I was in the bedroom holding my doll with my older hippie sisters and this came on the radio.
I can't wait for you to hear Kashmir.
I said before - God was in a good mood the day he put these four people together
There’s no way this is your 1st time hearing Black Dog… right?!?! I’m born & raised in Louisiana and my dad brought my brother and I up on this stuff! the reason it sounds confusing is thedrums are playing a different time signature to the rest of the band, INCREDIBLE musicians
Yes we are jumping around like a sitcom lol you should see my reaction to your reactions lol
What is that? That is Jimmy Page on the guitar!! John Bohnam on the drums!! Robert Plant singing his heart out!! John Paul Jones slaying the bass!! I miss this kind of music!
Missed your witty humor 😁🤗
U make me smile and laugh everyday. Thank you!
The band said this was their most difficult song to record.
Mark love your reactions mate, amongst the v best especially the mighty zeppelin 👍👍
Thank you Gunner!!!!
It doesn’t go. But it goes! Perfectly stated. Dazed and confused solo is like that. Just when you think he’s gone off the rails, he brings it all back and ties it up with a pretty bow. Amazing. Great reaction.
Pete Christiansen played the LZIV cassette on his boombox on the basketball bus to an away game. I never turned back!
Oh this song… ahhh ahhh ! The drums, the vibe.. I love this…one of my favorite Led Zeppelin tunes. I have this on vinyl and it rocks!!!!
Love this song. Really love this band. Your reaction is everything! 😁
I don't think I have seen any reactor enjoy the music the way you do...I love it!!! Keeps me smiling!!! Think you would like "Houses of the Holy"....& "Trampled Under Foot"...seriously though, you really can't go wrong with any of their songs....but these just popped in my head.
Hector...you never let us Led Heads down!! 👍❤🤙
I was 14 in a friends basement with a few girls and were were smoking a joint and listening to this album...….F**kin' life changing!
I was 14 years old too! 70s were the best time of my life...and Zeppelin were the greatest!
Best reactor I've ever subbed to. Other great Zep songs Kashmir, Misty Mountain Hop, and Trampled Underfoot among many others. Also, it occurred to me... That song was my first introduction to Zeppelin, I was 13 when this came out and then I discovered the rest, you already know this entire album is a rare perfect album.
Brain Squeeze and Led Zep, Not for the faint of heart but appointment viewing.

Reminds me of my younger years!!
You know this is Tom Macky Dee's favorite band!
keep going with Zeppelin Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix they're all nuts
"It doesn't go but it goes" try Poor Tom from the Coda album.
Maybe sometime during your reaction, you could exhibit some emotion. 🤣
Oh god you make my day, love you to bits❤👏👏👏😂😂😂

Ever since you did "Stairway", I knew you'd eventually get here...and I couldn't wait 😉

You Gawd……watch this LIVE from MSG ‘73…even if you don’t react. Just for yourself.
Time for some Led Zeppy!!! 💜💜💜 Another great one! 🔥🔥🔥 Had my first kiss with this song on....😉
Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart did a cover of this song and it's really good.
I think you would love to react to LZ live at Madison Square Garden in 1973. They were A…mazing!
Great reaction !! Please do OVER THE HILLS FAR AWAY by Led Zepplin next !!
Let’s do this brother!! Feel this shit
Great reaction. Listen to the 1973 live version from Madison Square Garden.... sweet as f

True rock n roll.
You can rely on Zeppy that EVERY SINGLE LITTLE TUNE YOU HEAR WILL SATISFY ONES GOOSEY BUMPS💃💃🤷♀️
Love hearing Bonzo click his sticks together when they're supposed to come in every time.
Talent to the infinite.
Your next stop should be the Rain Song, which has to be preceded by The Song Remains The Same. Plant said that this was his best ever live performance. Heartbreaker is also epic in terms of guitar and vocals and the first time a solo was played without any other instruments backing it.
God yes live...1973 The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song!!
"Please be good" . my friend they didn't make a song that wasn't good . there may be ones we don't like as much as others but they're still good .
Awesome classic song 🎶 from Led Zeppelin! It’s a very cool song to listen to. Thank so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#ledzeppelin
LOVED THE " HECTOR PLAYLIST " , I WOULD BYE A PHYSICAL COPY , CAN YOU HAVE SOME MADE THIS SIDE OF THE POND , SERIOUSLY ?
Awesome reaction!, 😄 I Knew you would f^&*"%ng love it!, many tunes of the 70's are like this, ups and downs 😵💫 I highly recommend a reaction to very underrated guitarist 🎸Robin Trower "Too Rolling Stoned" or "Day of the eagle" 🦅 Thank you! Peace! ☮
OHHHHHU HELL YEAH for some TROWER!!!
Also, some RORY GALLAGHER and definitely TOMMY BOLIN, POST TOASTEE!!!

So beautiful
Just to name a few😁
Imagine a whole group of people who have had several Zepplin songs rolling around in their brains for over 40 years.
Love it, love it, love it, love it!
Really digging your reactions! It's probably time you went down the Yes rabbit hole! Try their song Roundabout first. It might be too much for you but you seem to enjoy that hahaha. Keep up the great work
Cheers
Harro 😁🤘
Just another Led Zeppy fan with a swirly brain but his is swirling faster than most . There's so many diamonds left to mine.
You're a legend mate! I hope your time off is enjoyable, be well, get some mental down time ❤❤💯💯🔥🔥👏👏👏👏👊👊
