Hello ED . Rattray makes beautiful pipes. I bought that same pipe from the pipe knook. You are the only person who makes me feel satisfied with the 90 plus pipes I own now at the age of 70 . ISo sometimes I wake in the morning mad at myself because I bought another pipe. I have a couple of KAYEOODES that are 50 years old now from when I started smoking a pipe. And a great bundle from the auction too,St Bruno Flake is a wonderful smoke but not keen on ready rubbed. Kean's is a wonderful place to eat with all the pipes and History. Great food and service, they even have a great although light house beer. I hope you get a chance to go. Ed
Congrats on the big win, Ed. I enjoyed your little chat. I have a five inch clay, and I think a long, slightly bent one like yours, but it doesn't have the canted bowl. I have about a nine inch one, but I broke it into two 4 1/2" pieces. Watching you talk about the clays makes me want to try and fix it. I'll let you know if it works.
That was great Ed, you have so much fascinating history up there in the USA. Johnathon ( a few months ago) was talking about Hardcastle pipes no longer being made, so I bought a dozen or so before they were all sold. Amongst them were four clay Hardcastle's, I think I will have to try one out and see how it smokes! All the best mate.
Hey, I just finished a bowl of St. Bruno. Pretty popular in England, I understand, and I'm betting you'll like it. My newest grandchild was named Bruno. I've had a number of clays during my piping history, although I find that they are not comfortable in the mouth. Still, the churchwardens are a good smoke on a chilly evening.
Bud, I hope you don't tell your grandchild that he was named after a Tobacco blend. Ha. I smoke my clays just to get into a nostalgic mood but I agree, not the best of pipes to smoke. Ed

( I only smoke a pipe in late afternoon and evenings), I do not know how many pipes Keans but I know it is the most in the world and at one time they ordered 50.000 clay pipes in a three year period.
